Your ideas from 6 Nov 08

Ideas from last week if you want to pick up on any.

Computer gaming addiction
FE teacher James Whitehead wrote to us saying that several students drop out of his classes each year because of compulsive game playing.

Post-traumatic stress disorder
BBC Defence correspondent, Caroline Wyatt, is working on something for us about people serving in the British military in Afghanistan and their experiences on returning from war.

If either of these chime with your own experience or expertise, or you've heard something in the news that you think needs explanation - leave us a comment or drop us a line.

Does Trevor Phillips still think of Barack Obama as a cynical Uncle-Tom figure who will prolong the US racial divide?

I'd like to suggest you do a story on Sahaja yoga which has a website www.sahaja.org and there is a lot you can say about Shri Mataji, the guru of Sahaja yoga.
Why on earth aren't there more people doing Sahaja yoga?

Dear Jenny, I hope you didn't pay any money for that clever piece of art work above. My 10 year old sent something similar (but vastly superior, obviously) in to the blog last year when Eddie was in one of his "throwing my broken toys out of pram" moods and refusing to write on the blog. Somewhere there's a photo to prove it!

Dear annasee - pay? We wouldn't dream of paying for such a thing, BBC budgets don't stretch to that sort of thing around here, it's all 'be creative, be creative' from the Editor.

Though I'm sure your 10 year old's image was indeed, vastly superior - do you still have it or a link to it? We'll hang on it for when Eddie's next doing the whole toys-and-pram thing, believe me, you'd be doing us a favour.

Dear Jenny, We actually sent the original in to Rupert (since Eddie was being "incommunicado" at the time) and it was just a sheet of A4 adorned with newspaper words cut out to make the message. Something like "Rupert take this cash, tell no-one, bribe Eddie to blog again" - I seem to remember there was a scandal at the time about someone taking cash ...
It did get posted on the blog, along with a cartoon about pigeon post (to the blog) she'd done. Think it was during the dying days of the old blog, but couldn't give you a date.
Obviously, things are so much better now with the new improved technology that Eddie is a complete stranger to Mr Grumpy these days. Am I right??

I do hope I am in the right place to suggest a story?
If so, what about yet another stealth tax coming to light... the renewal of Driving Licences. It would be interesting to find out how many people are driving on invalid licences, risking huge fines as they, like me, honestly believed drivers were licenced until 70 years old as a matter of course. But no, this is not the case. Since the introduction of the photocard licence we to have to pay £17.50 to renew the photocards (plus the cost of the photo I guess) every ten years. With the number of drivers on the road I think this is going to become a nice little earner for Mr Brown and his cronies. What aggrieves me most is the fact that the Government spends gazzillions on advertising some pretty pointless stuff, but they haven't advertised the renewal of the licence - why? Are they ashamed of their emerging stealth tax?
