I cannot tell you how excited I am about this week's iPM. Let's just put it like this.

Eddie Mair | 15:36 UK time, Friday, 24 October 2008

I am as excited as everyone in this photo, doubled.

We'll talk about yachts, gates and why something that was achieved in the 1850s might be much slower today...because rules get in the way.

Welcome back, Eddie. I'm such a dork, I thought you had flounced out at 3am in a bar - haha! Love your sense of humour.

    Talk about i(nteractive)PM!

Lying in bed this morning thinking "what a rotten day, I have to get up in ten minutes", suddenly I heard Eddie reading out one of my daft comments.

Thanks! That's made my day. Mr Moncrieff's joke was far funnier than mine though.

No Jonnie that was a bloke with those initials. The daft comment was in the Chris Moncrieffgate interview itselfgate.

I've just heard the Director of BBC Audio and Music describing Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross as "great entertainers". Get real. At best they have a minor talent to amuse. Consider how many people will be watching repeats of their output over the years, compared to Andrew Sachs as the great Manuel in Fawlty towers.

They don't even have the excuse of being too young to know better. Ross, in particular, is a middle-aged man; he's pushing 50. He would do better to work out his mid life crisis in private, rather than treating us to this attempt at being an "edgy" young alternative comedian. He just looks pathetic.
