On the Radio 1 playlist this week and representing BBC Introducing across the network are One Bomb. Get ahead of the rest by listening to their latest track Good Times Roll below, before catching it on Radio 1 this week whilst you’re tuning into Gemma Cairney, Fearne Cotton, Greg James and Scott Mills.
Hometown: Si Tew and Shookz are an electronic music duo from Nottingham.
Style: Before musically colliding in February 2012, Si Tew and Shookz were both producers in their own right and their individual styles shine through in all of their tracks. Shookz’ drum and bass past inspires One Bomb’s gritty bass lines, whilst Si Tew’s downtempo and electronic background stimulates the soothing elements and electronic textures, especially on Good Times Roll. Whilst all of their tracks are fairly unique and combine varying measures of the pair’s individual backgrounds, you can expend a blend of House and Garage each time. On this track, you are treated with Georgia Copeland’s soulful vocals, with a spine-tingling tone that sits hand-in-hand with the music production to provoke a positively perfect summer tune.
You need to know: The voice you’re hearing on One Bomb comes from fellow Nottingham musician Georgia Copeland, but this isn’t the first time the pair have collaborated with Georgia – you can also hear her angelic voice on new track, Make Me Feel.
Supported by: Hailing from Nottingham, it’s no surprise that their local radio station couldn’t resist their electro sound when Si Tew and Shookz forwarded their tracks to BBC Introducing in the East Midlands, who have been supporting them ever since.
