Hometown: Shakka is a Londoner with Dominican parents who grew up in Notting Hill.
Style: Influenced by dub, reggae, Motown and hip hop from a young age, Shakka’s style is a box of tricks with an educational background in music production and theory. If you caught his set on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury, you will have noticed that Shakka has untameable enthusiasm and energy for music as well as being a vocal powerhouse. Not to mention the best trousers seen at Worthy Farm all weekend.
You need to know: Shakka has already made a big name for himself with his YouTube Shakkapellas, where he reworks and remixes big chart hits. He’s also the very same Shakka that features on Wretch 32’s Top 10 hit, Blackout.
Supported by: BBC Radio 1Xtra’s DJ Target has strongly supported Shakka on his 100% Homegrown show.
