On the playlist: Racing Glaciers - First Light

On the Radio 1 Playlist from Monday 2nd June are BBC Introducing band, Racing Glaciers, fresh from a performance on our stage at Radio 1's Big Weekend. Their track First Light will be played across Radio 1 daytime shows all week including Fearne Cotton, Greg James and Scott Mills.

Hometown: Racing Glaciers are a five-piece from Macclesfield.

Style: After making their first EP in just five days, excellent pop-rock comes naturally to these guys. With powerful basslines and perfect pop melodies, their music is crying out to be performed live and loud.

You Need To Know: Forget One Direction… Racing Glaciers officially opened Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Glasgow when they played the first set on the BBC Introducing Stage on Saturday. The band arrived in Glasgow after a period of touring, including recent support gigs with Dan Croll and Sons & Lovers, as well as a headline show at KOKO in London. Playing to a packed tent, there’s no doubt that these Macclesfield men will have picked up some new fans in Scotland too this weekend.

Supported By: Since submitting their music to the BBC Introducing Uploader at the tail end of 2012, the boys have been heavily supported by BBC Introducing from Stoke.
