On the Radio 1 Playlist this week are Ameira and their track We Never Close Our Eyes. The track will be played across the station all week on daytime shows including Fearne Cotton, Dev and Scott Mills. The track can be heard below along with a few choice bits of information about the group. You can impress your friends with them if you like...
Hometown: Ameira are a four-piece from Lincolnshire where they formed in 2011.
Style: The band initially began life as a post-hardocre group before giving their sound a more melodic edge. You can hear that transition in We Never Close Our Eyes, an epic chunk of heavy, anthemic alternative rock which easily keeps pace with the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, Don Broco and Twin Atlantic. The track comes from their debut EP Where I'm From due to be released at the end of November.
You need to know: The big break for Ameira came in 2012 when they won a local Battle Of the Bands competition.
Supported by: The band are regulars on BBC Introducing on Radio Humberside where We Never Close Our Eyes was first played in June.
