Occupying the BBC Introducing spot on the Radio 1 Playlist this week is Moko with her song Freeze. It will be played on daytime shows including Fearne Cotton, Greg James and Scott Mills. Give it a listen below and share your views in our comments section.

Hometown: Moko is a 21 year-old singer from South East London.

Style: We’ve been hooked on Moko’s captivating brand of ‘90s soul and house for quite a while now. Prior to this track, her songs Summon The Strength and Hand On Heart made a massive impact on taste-making blogs and websites in the summer and Freeze is equally impressive. Showing off a huge and infectious vocal on classic beats, it is the opening track to her debut EP Black, released on December 9.

You need to know: Moko was selected for our festival stage at Glastonbury and definitely delivered. Watch a couple of tracks here.

Supported by: Since uploading tracks in April, Huw Stephens, Gary Crowley, DJ Target and Tom Robinson have all put Moko on air, alongside pages and pages of positive industry press.
