Brits and things...

Greg James | 10:33 UK time, Thursday, 17 February 2011

It was a wonderful night on Tuesday.  I think moving it to the new venue of the o2 Arena really made a difference.  It seemed like a much more intimate show - crowd seemed really involved and close to the action unlike previous years.

I was on a fancy table next to Bieber's - I was within striking distance.

You can spot me in the background of this shot:

Well, obviously you can because I've drawn a handy red arrow.

Great night, so pleased Mumford and Sons won best album, there were some incredible live performances and I thought James Corden did an excellent job as host.

I have some show news for you.  Regular listeners will be aware of Producer Neil.  He has been working with me since I first started at Radio 1 and was the guy who first championed me at this place and recommended I did a trial show.  So really, it's his fault I'm here.  Blame him.  We did two years of getting up at joke o'clock for Early Breakfast and then came on to the afternoons with me last year.  We've been through thick and thin together!

He has gone and got himself a new job elsewhere in the BBC for a bit so I'd like to publicly thank him for everything he's done for me over the last three and a bit years.  I'll be forever indebted to him - he knows this and will use it against me one day.

Here we are - one of my favourite memories of doing the show together in Magluf a few years ago.

but will he come back...? Without Neil it's not the same.
i remember when in June 2009 I texted 'hello Greg, hello Neil' and u said that Neil was dead. then Rosie from NY tweeted Neil about it and when he came back to work after his holidays he took control of the show until u said 'i'm sorry'. ah...good times...
