Fleet Foxes...

Greg James | 15:44 UK time, Monday, 9 February 2009

Warning, this might sound a bit pretentious...I'll try my best to make it not...

For me, I've listened to many albums that I can say in my opinion don't have a bad track on them.

There are only a very small number however that I have to listen to in their entirety because they are like one long track.  I don't want to use the phrase 'musical journey' because it is a horrible phrase and it's not quite right either.  It's almost like a story.  And by this I mean it's not much good just reading one chapter.  It's better when you give the whole thing time.

Anyway, the latest album to do this to me is 'Fleet Foxes' by Fleet Foxes.  It is just incredible.  A perfect package, so different sounding and beautiful.  I strongly recommend this to you, it won't be everyone's cup of tea and won't ever climb high in the singles charts but it's remarkable and one of the best albums I've ever heard.

Anyway, I'll leave you with that and I'll pop off and disappear up my own bottom for the afternoon.   Yar, yar darling, those glasses are so sick they're almost ill, yar, yar, Charlie wore them, he's sooo random, yar etc.

Whats wrong with saying that? They did a really good performance on 'In The Basement' with Radiohead and some other guy I fastforwarded through as he was a bit rubbish. I think its on You Tube somewhere, you should have a ganders.

I only got through 10 minutes of it today, definitely not my cup of tea.

Fleet Foxes are INCREDIBLE, one of my favourite albums of 2008. Also worth checking out are a band called Mumford and Sons, who are very similar, if you're into that sort of thing. Highlights for me have to be White Winter Hymnal, Ragged Wood, He doesn't know why and heard them stirring, but really, the whole album's great. In a word (or two) absolutely spellbinding.

Well ignoring the possible pretentiousness I may have to invest in named album due to the top review you've given it, and the fact that I've loved the singles released so far.

If its good its credit to you yet again, I credit you for my love of Frank Turner since I heard him mainly on your big show and his jingle for you was just amazing.

    So there we go eh?

You're like the introducing for the mainstream playlist loving insomniac.

    Much Love

I've still yet to hear the current single all the way through but what I've heard is so gorgeous I've ordered the album and can't wait to listen to it xx
