The return of the front garden
Hi Fellow Gardeners',
With front gardens under threat across the nation from paving for parking and ease of living, on tonight's show we hope to inspire you, the viewer, to create your very own front garden utopia.
In the coming week's the team will be creating their very own front gardens at Greenacre to help you get inspiration - Toby's garden will have a country cottage theme, Joe's front garden will include modern materials and resourceful storage solutions for push bikes and wheelie bins, and Alys is creating a takeaway garden in the form of a renter's garden.
Why not share your creativity and upload pictures of your front gardens onto our Flickr group, we'd love to see them! Also on tonight's show we will be featuring some of your pictures from Flickr, so do tune in to see if your gardens have been featured.
Next week, we're at Gardeners' World Live and we're very excited to see the return of the marvellous Plant Swap. Plant Swap is a fantastic opportunity for you to swap a plant from your garden for something similar from another keen viewer's garden. This year we'll have 500 Gardeners' Delight tomato plants to swap for plants for our borders at Greenacre. Do come along and share your ideas, we can't wait to see you there!
The Dig In van will also be there and it's the ideal opportunity to collect your Dig In seeds for those of you yet to join in with growing your own grub. Please note it's too late to sow your tomato seeds, so you may want to save them for next year but you still have plenty of time to sow everything else! Although it's probably your last chance to sow your butternut squash seeds this weekend.... A good tip is to put them in the warmest place you have to get them to start growing - even if it's a dark airing cupboard. Check regularly, and once you see the shoots emerging, pop them on to a nice light windowsill. Also remember when sowing your lettuce seeds, it's best to do it in the evening as the seeds don't like the heat and cooler temperatures will help with faster germination.
That's all for now, enjoy your gardening weekend.

Gardeners World article about gardens in rented property did not mention that tenants should always check with their Landlord (or his agent) before planting anything or making significant changes to the garden. Many landlords would be very annoyed and the tenant could loose his deposit!

I have always thought the Gardeners World programmes are interesting, very helpful and often provocative, whoever is presenting them. I like the current presenters but am concerned that some of the articles are not really very eco-friendly. There is not a consistent approach as to whether the highlighted plants are insect friendly (except where the item is specifically about, for example, bees) or the materials are really necessary or viable. I realise that the programmes are designed not to be dull or austere, and that balance across viewer interests is important. However, I believe plants and the construction of habitats for them should be more critically assessed before programmes are accepted for filming. Indeed programmes need to be much more a beacon for a sustainable future than they are now.

my front garden (such as it is) is basically hard standing for two cars, inspire me with something better than just tubs with plants in to change this, but i still want to park on it and its gotta be cheap, any ideas?

Liked the hazel screen to hide the water butt. But didn`t see a space for the watering can or how to reach the tap?

One can only hope that your current contract for producing Gardener's World has but a short time to run. This series has been utter dross as, quite frankly was the last.

I was recently cleaning up a dog rose growing in my back garden. I came across something I had not seen before growing in two places. It is a cluster of four or five green and orange hairy growths. Several of the smaller ones seem to be growing through the leaves. Can someone please identify this for me?
