Are you happy now?
UPDATE: 08:30
After seeing the response from listeners, a change of plan! You're telling us you want to discuss the idea that Tony Blair might become President of the European Council. So that's the phone-in. We'll add a blog post shortly.
This morning we've heard the first details of the planned changes to MPs' expenses. There's been a leak from the Kelly committee, which has been reviewing the system.
It says they MPs will be banned from claiming expenses to cover the cost of mortgages on their second homes, and they'll also be prevented from giving jobs to their wives or family members.
So are you happy now? That's the question on the Phone-in this morning.
After all the outrage on expenses are you happy with the plans to change the system? Are the plans fair? Is it right that MPs should suffer for the mistakes of a tiny minority? Are there loop holes that you think MPs will be able to exploit?

Two things.
First, the predictable St John Mann is the first out of the blocks to chip in, thanks to you inviting him. Could you not have given us a teaser of someone who might have actually given an unexpected comment? He is like Groundhog Day and never says anything different.
Second, and more to the point. Wait for the report to be published, then have your phone in. What is the point of having a call in programme now when you know very well it will have to be covered when the report comes out? Your programme is like Groundhog Day................

All these petty reforms to make it look as if something is being done to impress the apathetic disgruntled voter won't make the slightest bit of difference.
MP's will always be on good pay and allowances just like bankers will always receive massive bonuses. It's their financial incentive to ensure none of them politically or financially disrupts the political status quo regardless of what the voters want. This is why none of the mainstream parties have any solution to the debt crisis and why they all support the war in Afghanistan despite the increased troop death toll!
The MP's expense scandal is not the cause of this crisis of democracy but is merely a symptom of it! As long as MP's (most anyway) are paid for their politics there will always be corruption. Elections should take place regularly. Not for parties or personalities but for alternatives policies that make people think!
