Too tired to work

Purvee Pattni | 15:27 UK time, Monday, 18 May 2009

On Tuesday's programme we'll be talking about the dangers of driving when you're tired. If you want a graphic illustration of the problem have a look at what happened to 5 live's Rowan Bridge when he drove a simulator after staying up all night.

The Police Federation say tired driving's now the biggest killer of police officers in England and Wales.

Regarding MP's expenses maybe constituencies should purchase homes and offices for the use of the incumbent mp, with only decorating expenses allowed.this means the propeties will always be a public asset

Too tired to work? Luckily I am NOT a car driver. I would be really dangerous behind the wheel of a moving vehicle.

Someone has made me very very tired recently.

The thought that vested interest can literally lean into Great Britain from another country and stop a private matter.

Watching Hislop and Rushbridger earlier this year talk about Courts interference this afternoon saddened me no end. But I am afraid it is true. Everybody made to look away - nowt to see here effectively.

The issue of polie officers and tiredness has long been an undiscussed problem. I was a police officer in London for 30yrs, and worked shifts for over half my service. The shift pattern then was a rigid three shifts of 8 hour duration which rotated over a four week cycle. On a number of occasions after working only an 8 hour night duty I can remember falling asleep momentarily on my journey home and having that 'can't keep my eyes open feeling' that many drivers will recognise. It even happened on occasion when I regularly commuted on a motor cycle. This problem has now been exacerbated, not just by overtime at the end of a shift but by flexible rostering patterns where officers regularly work 10 or 12 rostered hours of duty before any additional overtime is added. Flexible rostering is popular with senior officers for the flexiblity it provides on the deployment of officers over a 24 hour period, and allows more officers to be on duty at peak tmes of demand. It is also popular with officers as longer rostered shifts mean more days off and longer periods of leave. It is not without cost however, and the price of 3 officers dying this year due to tiredness is one which should make all police authorities look again at this issue.

I do not lsiten anymore, so I will assume. Morning Shelagh and Nicky.

So what was it all about Alfie?

That poor boy - despite all the newsprint TV Coverage etc wasnt the Father? Dah! How long ago was that rubbish now and now and ONLY now we are told?

I was not listening to Edward Leigh just now just because he was an MoP with something to criticise on train fares via the internet. Not me Gove- nor I was thinking and busy casting various MoPs Crook Mouths as that Frank character in Once Upon A Time In The West(minster). OUATITW? Last gunfight scene - check it out. Oh MoPs - no offence but hey..!

He has done stuff I thought about musician Michael Martin. Shipyards represents a part of Glasgow Springburn was it. Respect!

When Carswell rose from so far on the back benches I needed a spy glass I thought aah! Expendable. He can be McBain in OUATITW. Where were the Railmen Mortons Cameron, Brown and minded to sign the early day motion Cleggie? Where indeed?

Wimps and craven if you want to know you country look at the political leaders and media. Burma sent a Missourian swimmer to bang up that poor woman forever - seemingly. So brave of those Generals all.

Back to non father Alfie. He no doubt enjoyed the attention but I fear for his future now. Kids can be very cruel you know? Almost as cruel as some adults.

I am doing just one anagram today because you will see only one is needed.

I have done stuff too. Not just jeered at other honourable men and women - allegedly.

Do not give craven England the World Cup for gawd sake! The games will be played in mythical stadiums because like all my countrys promises - the world class venue will be talked up like the Emperors New Clothes.

2018? Not enough time if we have to depend on the self obsessed MoPs to guide our preparations in my view.

What was it all about Alfie? Yup. Tired and angry I am afraid.

    Oh that anagram.
