Is this the year you'll holiday in the UK?

seaside.jpgThe country's in recession. People are trying to economise. The exchange rate makes trips to other parts of Europe less attractive. Forecasters say the summer weather looks promising. Is all that enough to stop you going abroad for your summer break? And if not, why not?

Holiday here? Heck no. I am off to the USA - allegedly. lol

I do not like my country sometimes. I imagine a kitten with a ball of wool thrown to distract it but, Shelagh and Nicky I aint really distracted. I don't know who I am talking to there because I no longer listen either. Ford and Ferrari? Ho hum!

    Sunderland target who? For manager?

Football. Rangers and Celtic I support the latter sort of - but I genuinely wished a sparring partner the best for his supporting of Rangers and I maintain that this morning and next season let the fun begin again. Rangers won and already the calls for a resignation ring out. Say what?

What is all the alleged fairweather support reported on or is it the dire media again? Very angry Newcastle supporters seen but they really support Newcastle. You win or you lose. You get a bit miffed.

You do not resign just for losing once in how many years is it? I forget when Mr Strachan joined Celtic I said sort of support.

And the support for that alleged moral stalwart ex SAS man. Was his mention in yesterdays paper his background sort of true? Where did that come from when he is on my TV screen allegedly moralising about others? Dribble it out once a use has been made, eh media?

The words "former SAS" is a tell" too especially when there is allegedly other than sterling military service in a background.

And Royal premises break in. I waited until last night to hear So and so was allegedly paid £1000 for..

So Sundae our Royal family is as safe as the cost of bribing anyone in their service amounts to? Nice of you to let people too many people know.

I sit here beating up the poor USA for this country?

No more. Its representatives as I see on my news channel aint worth a bowl of warm spit.

I am not going anywhere but if I could go away I would be at the airport in a heartbeat. Britain is a beautiful country but the weather and the extortionate costs of everything here are a huge 'put off'. I have had 2 short breaks in Cornwall in the last 2 years and it rained constantly. St Ives in the pouring rain is a horrible place.

I have just returned from a few days in France and Switzerland and even though the exchange rate is not so good at the moment the value for money is far superior to anything in this country. You can bet on good servicee and politeness from the people you meet in shops and restaurants and as for the scenery it is stupendous. Crossing lake Geneva on a sunny morning with a view of the snow-capped mountains is living the dream. And you can guarantee the boats and trains arrive and depart on time.
But most of all it is the style of life that I envy .

We enjoy visisting the Yorkshire Dales but we have to rely on day trips as bed and breakfast in the average pub can cost up to £100 per night for a family of four. We will holiday in the UK when the prices become more realistic and competitive with holidays abroad.

Hi Jimmy Dean ref your first comment.

Of course travel to and visiting other parts of the world is a fine education and if there was a fairer equitable distribution of wealth throughout the developed capitalist economies many more people would do so and witness themselves first hand different cultures rather than relying on the various stereotypes that are regularly conveyed by the dominant corporate media!

So you are taking the easy route out? Pity you can't devote your clearly enterprising resourceful nature into making your country better (albeit countries themselves are just illusory and artificial political borders that have been created throughout history)

Good on you to learn 5 other languages. However on the evidence of what you wrote I hope your spelling of their lingo is better than your own or did your passion to express your feelings impede you to check back before posting?

Hope once you've emigrated and settled in your new chosen artificially created frontier you'll find everything as hunky dory as you clearly seem to think it is!
