Henrik - on Utd v Barca

Richard Jackson | 19:16 UK time, Tuesday, 26 May 2009

PiazzadelPopolo_203_152.jpgBreakfast is in Rome this morning with all the build up to the Champions League final. We're in the Piazza del Popolo.

Vassos has interviewed Henrik Larsson ahead of the Champions League final. He won the Champions League with Barcelona and was also hugely popular during a brief spell with Manchester United.

You can hear the interview on Wednesday's breakfast programme and you can watch the interview below:

Sir Alex Ferguson's team are aiming to win back to back Champions League titles against Barcelona tonight. But who will you be cheering for tonight? If you're not a United fan can you put rivalry to one side and cheer for a British team in Europe? If you support Man United does it bother you that other fans hope you lose?

However, if he wasn't I'd be hoping Barca can humiliate them!!

BABSM1934 your spot on about man united being in huge debts they owe 650 million pound to the banks with serious debt there success in many ways is manufactured spending 30 million pound on transfers rather than bringing there own young players through it will be intresting to see how many of the players who played against hull city at the weekend play in the first team in years to come if there as good as the arrogant fergie and the fans make out or how many more million of pounds there gonna go spend in order to buy the best players while these kids get discarded

as far as this nonsense goes about how we should support english teams goes its all drivel the majority of the players playing club football are all foreign in most of the big teams in england and there the best players in the team contrast that with our english players whoplay for england there hopeless no techique or skill thats why since 1966 we have never won a major tournament and never will for anorther 50 years

Barca are the better team. They rely on playing good football to win not as Man.U who play to win whatever.
I love Barca although I am a Liverpool fan.
I live in the South but have been a liverpool fan for 40 years. They play as a team and always have.
I will be looking to see how many free kicks Man.U get which may be questionable.
Come on Barca I will be gutted if man.u. win.
Can you imagine their arrogance if they win. No living with them.

I personally hope that Barcelona will win, and put a lot of Five Live noses out of joint in the process.

    Why?

Four weeks ago, Andy Murray (who's just started in Paris) was playing in the tennis event in Rome that Novak Djokovic had to win to avoid changing places with Murray in the ATP Rankings.

So, Djokovic is playing Roger Federer in the semi-finals on the Saturday, while the Cola Cola League One/Two season is being concluded. To my amazement/disgust, Jonathan Overend is somewhere in England watching a League Two match!

I accept that Mr. Overend will have been sent to this match by someone in higher authority; but the fact that no-one turns up for the tennis when assorted Five Live presenters/reporters/pundits/"wafflers" (no names!) turn up in Rome for a football match a few weeks later - I'm sorry, it sucks.

"Good morning. Our main story today - North Korea threatens military action against South Korea. However, here's fifteen minutes of talk about the football followed by another travel bulletin, some weather and a few headlines (including the situation in Korea) whereby we will remind you that our main story today is the imminent prospect of Uncle Kim's massed tanks heading inexorably for Pusan with the added bonus of the possible prospect of a nuclear element to a very-likely conflict that various treaty obligations will almost certainly see our servicemen being involved with and, after reminding you that this story, which if it kicks off will eclipse all else from MPs expenses to Afghanistan, is our main story for today we will give you another fifteen minutes of repetitive, inane and, relative to what is most likely to happen unless some Special Forces type miraculously and decisively eliminates the DPRK leadership, largely insignificant and irrelevant waffle about the impending occurrence of 22 over-paid prima donnas punting a bag of wind up and down a patch of grass in Rome later today, and all before the next travel bulletin - isn't that amazing?! After that we will remind you our main story is the deteriorating situation in the far east before filling the next fifteen minutes with even more of the same about the football and sundry mundane tabloid fodder involving people who make ideal guests on the Jeremy Kyle Show. Then we'll have a phone-in in which we will be discussing the weighty issue of - wait for it, wait for it - the impending over-hyped 90-minute event in Rome tonight. I'm Shelagh Fogerty. You're listening to Breakfast on BBC 5Lite. Good morning. It's just gone six o'clock. Here's Helen with the travel and then I will be reminding you our main story today is, of course, things rapidly going sour on the Korean peninsular before talking in detail about something entirely different..."

I really must re-tune my clock-radio to a more intellectually stimulating station, at least until Nicky Campbell gets back from his break.

I love good football, so in theory being english, I should support Man Utd. They are great to watch and have so much talent, that you have to admire them. However is the fans that make me want them to lose. At work I get Man Utd rammed down my throat so much, especially when my team loses and they win, that I get truly fed up. If Man Utd lose then maybe they will keep quiet for a while. This might seem a little bit naff but you have no idea how irritating it gets when they just keep on about how wonderful Man Utd are and how rubbish my team is.
There are certain things that can really put you off a team, i.e... Manager, players behaviour, fans behaviour and so on. Man Utd are such a good side but I just can't bring myself to support them tonight.
