Another day - another band that's reforming
Take That, The Spice Girls, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Boyzone, East 17 (sorry getting desperate) and now Blur.
That's just the latest in a long line of acts to reunite after pledging they wouldn't. And now everyone's favourite 1990's indie pop band Blur (not including Oasis) has announced it's to play a huge show at London's Hyde Park next summer.
It will be the first time Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree will have played together in public since 2000.
But what's motivating Blur and bands like them to make a return? I doubt it's money worries for Damon and his pals, they've all been busy since they were last together in a recording studio. Here's a round-up of what the members of Blur have been up to.
To try and discover what's tempting these bands out of their country retreats and back onto the stage we tracked down music promoter Harvey Goldsmith, who's made a habit of luring musicians out of retirement; he oversaw the return of Led Zeppelin last year and Pink Floyd at Live 8.
Here's Harvey telling us why our old favourites are retuning their guitars and who he's going to bring back next.
Personally, I think it's great Blur are are back on the scene, although this will mean a drop in production at bassist Alex James' Oxford cheese farm.
Let's just keep our fingers crossed that David Van Day doesn't try and bring back Dollar!

With world leaders joining thousands of people in the German capital to mark the 20th anniversary of fall of the wall; was that the moment when Europe changed forever? Nicky was in Berlin all morning and we asked if socialism is dead and heard your memories of it coming down…....

Blur?
Blurring the lines. I didn't know that THAT Christine Odone was related to the family depicted in the "Lorenzo's Oil" film. But it was simply grist to my mill. As was todays "Thought for the Day".
I never saw the film but recognise the merits of such life affirming attitudes and I grieve. Lorenzo died some while ago didn't he?

Everyone yesterday were carry a particular product - normally in the tinned version. Someone not worthy of being a candidate for "Poster boy" came to mind with all the young men carrying knives.
Forgive me for reading so many subtexts into another business but I hope I am wrong.

I noted in passing one of Blur is studying to become a barristers? So they have buried the fued with Oasis and one of their number is to Roll with it?
The Law?
Not very Rock and Roll - is it?
But another member of the group in my opinion is a good columnist though and smallholder/farmer is it?
But then there were all these TV stars going into politics with spectacular success - like Kilroy Silk (ouch!) wasn't he there in politics first too?
And Sarah Palin - Martin Bell - bless 'im! Oh and film star and double Oscr winner Glenda Jackson.
Maybe Blur man didn't forget the fruit gums, Mum.

Excellent news!, I grew up listening to Blur, in fact I am so old that I saw them perform under their original name of 'seymour' (if my memory is correct).
Living in Maastricht, I recently got to see 'the Who' in Antwerp (who were well before my time), apart from the fact that it was all seater (imagine that!), they were fantastic, it proves to me at least, that good bands will always be worth watching/listening to, irrespective of the era they belong too.
