Santa school!

David Lennon | 17:08 UK time, Friday, 14 November 2008

santa_203x252.jpgWe've sent our intrepid reporter Andrew Fletcher on one of his toughest assignments yet.

Andrew has gone to Santa School - to find out just what it takes to become an assistant to the big man in red.

Take it away, Andrew...

Andrew writes...

santa_elves_203x252.jpgHo, ho and indeed ho! I've been to Santa School to learn how to be one of Father Christmas's helpers.

These red-suited, white-bearded gentlemen will be appearing at a grotto near you as Christmas approaches, lending their assistance to Father Christmas himself (who is, of course, extremely busy at this time of year).

There's more to being a Santa's helper than you might imagine. It's not simply a question of promising a train set to all good boys and girls and giving a hearty chuckle.

The great man is a discerning employer and requires his team to have an ability to remember the names of all nine (yes nine) reindeer and an in-depth knowledge of this year's must-have presents.

Hear how I got on:
