What's the most watched British TV show of all time?
Data has been collected from the British Audience Research Board (BARB), the British Film Institute and the Office of National Statistics to provide an overview of British TV viewing figures and popular TV shows to date.
It could be anything from a major sporting event to an episode of Eastenders.
I think i've watched series 1 episode 4 of The Office a good 30 times so i've been keeping my fingers crossed that it made the top 10.
However the results have been counted and......
The top 3 most watched programmes on British TV of all time are
1. The 1966 World Cup Final (32.20 million viewers)
2. The Funeral of Princess Diana (32.10 million viewers)
3. The Royal Family (documentary) (30.69 million viewers)
The top 3 most watched regular British TV shows of all time are
1. Eastenders (25/12/86) (30.15 million viewers)
2. Coronation Street (08/12/89) (26.93 million viewers)
3. Only Fools and Horses (29/12/96) (24.35 million viewers)
