A Shining Beacon or just deja vu?

He's been jailed for assault and affray, he's been given a separate suspended sentence for attacking a team mate, he's even stubbed out a cigar on a colleague's face but now Joey Barton says he's cleaned up his act and he wants to be a role model for other disillusioned youngsters. This got you going didn't it?
"Joey Barton is just a thug, a leopard can never change its spots" (Brian, Manchester)
In an extremely frank interview Barton talks openly about his time in prison and his battles with alcohol and says that he is on his very last chance. Listen to the interview below.
But, and it is a big but, we've heard this all before from him. This was David Pleat's response to Barton saying he's turned over a new leaf and is ready to repay those who have stood by him.
Barton has now served his 6 match ban for assaulting his former team-mate Ousmane Dabo - an offence he was given a four month suspended sentence for - and if given another chance by another Newcastle manager, he could be picked to play in Newcastle's match against Sunderland at the weekend. He could get quite an interesting reception there!
