Football Hall of Fame

Andy Hall | 00:15 UK time, Wednesday, 8 October 2008

Sir Bobby Charlton, Bob Paisley, Brian Clough and George Best

During our programme planning meeting one of the sports producers mentioned that on Wednesday night nine footballing legends will be inducted into a special European Hall of Fame.

As part of the European Capital of Culture celebrations there is going to be a special night in Liverpool to acknowledge a European Hall of Fame. The Selection Panel have deliberated to select the greatest players and managers of all time in the English game based on performance in Europe.

And the nine footballing legends that are going to be inducted (If you don't want to know the results look away now) are...

George Best
Sir Bobby Charlton
Kenny Dalglish
Kevin Keegan
Sir Matt Busby
Brian Clough
Bob Paisley

Sir Alex Ferguson
Sir Bobby Robson

You have to admit they are all legends and have brought so much to the game.

If you had any doubts over Sir Alex Ferguson being included take a look at this.

Do you agree with the list? For me it would have to be Cambridge United legend Dion Dublin (honest).

How can any such list not have Jock Stein on it? He took a bunch of local guys from mining villages and won the European Cup, as well as 9 straight leagues and sundry other trophies.
