My council is great because....
The Audit Commission is giving its view of local councils this morning.
So tell us - my council is great because...........
My council is great because they are a bunch of bureaucrats in non-jobs trying to justify their own existence. Phil on m25 My council is great because a council van hides most of the day in our back alley while the driver reads newspapers & drinks flasks of tea. Karl. Belfast. My council is great because they spend most of the money on road signs and markings which makes us all safe. Chris in Cambridge.
My council enfield ìs great because it gives me a disabled freedom pass so i can travel any where in london by bus, tube or train. Simon My council's great because... they know how to charge tons of money for not a lot of service and get away with it! linda in stockport. My council in york is great because even though this is the birthplace of guy fawkes they've dropped firework displays in case anyone gets injured. Pete My councils great because they're fixing the potholes in my road, then installing speed humps.3 cheers for bradford council. Martin My council's great because they charge more and more council tax and deliver less and less value. Steve, newcastle.

Shelagh and Nicky - good morning.
I cannot do it - comment on my
former local council or be a politician. Super casinos and Metronet. How the latter are required to run everything through several focus groups before commenting or making a decision.
How they spin it! I can talk with my take on the daily news - but the Metronet bail out "had to be spent" - the once required Super Casino in Manchester is no more?
I worked in a casino for a few years - there is still one with the same name but it is not the same employer or site. Spinning wheels - roulette. Red faces or black moods. No win.
But Ms Fogarty is back. Ace! Win, win!
The consensus builders. "Can we fix it - yes we can!"
Was there any followup query in Bob the Builder shows? Like "Ah - but is it broken?"
The derision heaped onto the one extra game of football overseas suggestion and the Archbishops comment caused "rows" I am told.
No surprise. But how about discussions and perhaps afterwards a consensus on what is wise. Do we need to fix it? And if so, which parts.
My Council's great because it's aware of the world beyond its boundaries. Tower Hamlets and the docks were at the heart of the world trading system for two hundred years. Now Tower Hamlets is a Fairtrade Borough under the Fairtrade Foundation's scheme to make us aware of the farmers and factory workers throughout the world who provide us with the basics of life. Martin Luther King said "“Before you finish breakfast, you will have depended on half of the world”. My council knows that the rest of the world exists and it has the vision to reach out to the world and help build a fairer, more decent and safer future for us all.
