Banned - the F word in Fairytale of New York

Richard Jackson | 07:09 UK time, Tuesday, 18 December 2007

The lyrics of Kirsty MacColl and the Pogues' Christmas classic The Fairytale of New York have been consored by Radio 1 - twenty years after it's first release.

The word "faggot" has been removed for fear of offending listeners - but "arse" is still there.

I am fed up with political correctness messing with everything. I am sure the gay community could not care less about one word in the greatest christmas record of all time. Dominic watson, basingstoke.
The censorship of the pogues song is nonsense. Its not directed at gay men so isn't offensive. Bleeping spoils the lyric and the song.
Fairy Tale of New York lyrics: did I hear that right? They censored "faggot" but left in the word "arse"?? ???
