Is your bread too big?

Ellie Reuter | 18:01 UK time, Thursday, 29 November 2007

slicedbread.jpgBaroness Gardner of Parkes thinks so. She's told the House of Lords that the width of a standard slice is getting thicker, and it's contributing to our expanding waistlines: "In central London you can hardly buy a thin or medium-sliced loaf of bread and any sandwich that you buy in any supermarket is now made with thick bread," she says. "There should be more pressure from the Food Standards Authority to reduce us back to normal-size bread again instead of these super-sandwiches."

Nicky spoke to Baroness Gardner about what's wrong with a nice thick slice of toast - listen back to the interview here.
