The hardest sport in the world?

Richard Jackson | 11:04 UK time, Thursday, 20 July 2006

Is apparently, golf. Who says so? Paul Broadhurst.

He was one of Shelagh's guests as Breakfast came live from the Open Golf Championship in Liverpool.

Golf is probably the hardest sport there is - you never, ever perfect golf. Different parts of the human body can malfunction from day to day.

He'd been asked why it was that constant practise is needed - even from those who play the game every day of their working lives.

We also learned that our golf correspondent Iain Carter had once, in a junior's tournament hit Paul Broadhurst's ball by mistake. Bad form.

Shelagh also discovered that John Inverdale has a jinx over Colin Montgomerie and is not allowed anywhere near him on the course.

John also revealed he got a bet on Luke Donald to win - at 28-1. But John's bets never win, so the advice is to avoid David Howell and Ernie Els too, as he's backed them as well.
