Eurovision 2011 - The Grand Final 14th May 2011

Post categories:

BBC Eurovision Andrew BBC Eurovision Andrew | 17:00 UK time, Friday, 13 May 2011

After the jaw-dropping (in every sense) excitement of the semi-finals, we now know which 20 acts will join Italy, Spain, France, Germany - and, of course, the UK - in tonight's Grand Final.

If you're watching, let us know what you think. We'd love to hear how you're celebrating the big event. Are you having a party? Are you dressing up? Are you eating some suitably themed snacks?

We'll be featuring a selection of your comments on our red button service, as well as comments from the BBC Eurovision Facebook page and the BBC Eurovision Twitter feed . Graham will be reading out some of your messages as well, so there's no reason not to let us know what you're up to!

Let us know what you're doing by leaving a comment below.

Eurovision Irelands Jedward, Do you think they are copying the late english pop band
Bross (matt and luke Goss brothers), even jedwards name seems like a copy.

  • Comment number 3.

we'll be watchin' tonight with our now legendary custom made giant wooden scoreboard ... we are rooting for blue but have a bit of a soft spot for sweden... he's definitely very "popular" on the colin & neil show.... from colin & neil off of the colin & neil show in liverpool

I plan on getting absolutely off my face to deal with Moldova. Food alcohol (lots and lots and lots) will make the viewing bearable. God I love this time of year.

  • Comment number 5.

Lets see, 10 points from Estonia goes to Latvia, 10 points from Croatia go to Bosnia-Herzegovina, 10 points from one country go to our next door neighbour.

It is the same all the time, now if we only had a panel of non-European judges like Kylie Minogue, then this would stop the corruption of unfair voting.

If Germany can use a well known artist, why can't we? if Ireland or UK do not win, evidently it is fixed.

Other than that we should see more Metal and rock bands in this competition, Lordi, Terasbetoni, maNga, who next?

  • Comment number 8.

I am in Germany with my German friends. We're all dressing up as a Eurovision winning song, and I have baked 'satellites' and a peace-flag cake for 'A Little Peace'. And there's an empty plate with just a few cake crumbs for 'Taken By A Stranger'. :) Still have to think of an 'I Can'-themed snack though...

  • Comment number 9.

Graham you star... PLEASE give a MASSIVE shout out to all at THE CLOCK INN in SOUTH NORMANTON! I've organised the first Eurovision Party in the village and we will all be there cheering on Sweden (Eric's a hottie - just hope the glass panels actually work tonight!), Ireland and of course BLUE!!!
Thank Cat and Ed for agreeing to this madness in their pub!
    Have a fantastic night

    Good evening, New Zealand calling.

We have just finished putting the finishing touches to our German themed living room. Since leaving the UK we haven't missed a single Eurovision thanks to the magic of the t'interweb. We will be getting up at 5:30am to get our continental breakdfast washed down with lashings of champagne.

This year our party will span over 11,500 mile we will be linking up with friends Craig & Paul in Halifax, all thanks to skype. We will be dressing up, so bound to be... interesting.

Have a wonderful happy Eurovision everyone, enjoy the moment.

    Chris & Adam

I've painted my nails with different flags, we're getting lots of food from different european countries (swiss chocolate, crepes, strange swedish food from ikea), we're printing off score cards AND my bulgarian girlfriend Ludichenka is coming over, to keep things european. It's going to be good!

  • Comment number 13.

Would LOVE to see then win, but like a previous comment also have a big soft spot for Eric from Sweden (catchy song & hot guy!) who is v "Popular" & could win it! Also love Denmark, Estonia & Azerbaijan! It's gonna be a GREAT night! Good luck Blue & looking forward to ur on-air comments Graham! ;)

Hi Graham - PLEASE give a huge EUROTASTIC hello to the Gulberwick Euro Party up in Shetland - especially, Anne, Brian, Hannah and Emma, and special guest for the evening retired Sergeant Bob Gunn!!! We're loving it!!! Hope you have as great a night as we will!! love you! UK TO WIN!

  • Comment number 20.

We are as guilty of voting for our neighbours as "the rest of them" for are we not likely to vote for Ireland?!

Denmark Norway and Sweden was joined at the hips in bygone times and share their language, so it's obvious that they would vote for their neighbour.

USSR (Russia) consisted of most of the eastern european countries that are taking part, so why be surprised when they vote for each other?
Eastern europe has a fondness for a different kind/sound of music, like for example
China, so what we think is awful, is great to them.
But in general, if a song has a good rhythm, is 'catchy' and repeated words, it will usually win..

  • Comment number 21.

Hi Graham!! Euro party with family and our 1 year old niece Lizzie, who is starting her Eurovision following young, even if she will probably be asleep for most of it!! Have a great evening, Come on Blue, bring it home!! xx

  • Comment number 22.

HI Graham, just me and the wife here in Rainham Kent, and we have a great day planned... fa cup final... takeaway.... Eurovision and then bedroom activities (wink)... what could be better than all that!!!!!!! :-)

  • Comment number 23.

With our English GCSE on Monday, me and my friends will be looking for English-related stuff, such as alliteration and onomatopoeia in the songs (Boom Boom would have done well with onomatopoeia). The one with the most will be the English GCSE winner.

  • Comment number 24.

Will be watching the BBC coverage with friends and our Eurovision mad kids at our home in the Pays de Gex just outside Geneva. Swiss song isn't half bad although don't get me wrong we are rooting for Blue and have been successfully requesting it on the local English radio station over the last few weeks so it has had plenty of airplay here! Swiss song is great too so you vote for us and we will vote for Uk and hopefully it will be Uk of Switzerland next May!
Bonne Chance! The Gray Family x

  • Comment number 25.

I am from the States and we will be watching with cheers on BLUE. Have been a fan since 2002. We are having a little Blue party I manged to convert some friends to Blue fans over the years. :o) GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment number 26.

We'll be watching from Wales with country themed drinks and the drinking-game rules we trialled during the semi finals. If we're still conscious by the time we get to the points, we're doing it wrong!
    Aled & Kat

  • Comment number 27.

Please mention my Eurovision house party in Liverpool! Me and my housemate Steven have had one every year for the past 5 years. We do a sweepstake for the winning country and every time your chosen country gets 12 points you have to have a shot. I pity the person who gets France tonight!! Hungary for the win! We were a bit gutted the twins didn't get through, someone went to the trouble of cloning Bree from Desperate Housewives for nothing!

  • Comment number 28.

Please can you give a mahooooooosive shout out to Claire and Mike who are hosting a Euro themed party in Benfleet Essex with about 40 family and friends, Euro themed food, party games and the ultimate Shrine to Terry Wogan, Graham Norton and all things Eurovision! We;re all representing randomly selected countries but secretely all backing Blue to Win. Rock on Eurovison.

  • Comment number 29.

We'll be having a party, including, for the first hour only, my friend's 7 month old daughter, it's her first Eurovision, yay! We've got the union jack flags, balloons, banners and hats, so it'll be the most patriotic room in Widnes, and for one night only we'll be eating all our favourite junk foods, coz it's not every day you WIN Eurovision, come on Blue!!!!

  • Comment number 30.

Hello Graham, this is the Bridgend jury including the euro die hard fanatics Sarah, Gareth, Lisa & Paul... we've dec'd up - there's a shrine to Kati Wolf... vodka jellies have set... I've heard that if Blue Win the contest will be held in Cardiff next year - is this true.....

  • Comment number 31.

I'm hosting a "Eurovision Extravaganza" in East Calder, Scotland. The theme is "Come as a Country" so I'm looking forward to seeing everyones efforts. There'll be plenty of Eurovision related party games going on including "Eurovision Bingo"...so come on Graham we're relying on you to give this party a mention so someone can win!

  • Comment number 32.

Please Please please !!! For gods Sake Lets not let that tone deaf Jedward win. I have been a proffesinal songer for years and this has just put the iceing on the cake to me that the Music business has gone mad and is so corrupt now.Everybody please watch out for the 4 backing singers behind Jedward doing all the actual singing work. There hair cut is not original as i had this cut over 10 years ago in my band The Bangkok Bever Patrol and as somone else on this forum, Jedward are trying to be like Bros from the 80s but the only difference is that Bros were actually talented and better looking.

  • Comment number 33.

I'm having a Eurovision party this year! I made all the Irish bunting, cocktail flags, and some of the food! JEDWARD TO WIN! =:D

  • Comment number 47.

I am very excited. My mum brought me up on Eurovision, when I was little I was allowed to stay up for an annual treat and have loved it ever since. Indoctrinate your children now!! I think Graham's prep of watching Lady Gaga last night was a suitably gentle introduction to some of the more creative entries. The moldovan gnome/unicycle nightmare is my favourite, when Austria come on I've scheduled in a tea break. At least this year we won't come last, come on Blue!!

  • Comment number 48.

    Hello Graham!! Hello Europe!!!

So excited about this evening's final. My own personal highlights...

    • Bosnia and Herzegovina – because when I lost my sheep in the hills around Mostar this is the same simple yodel I used…

    • Estonia – The escapees from the Tallinn production of Glee. Estonian Rachel wants to win BADLY. You can see it in here eyes.

    • Azerbaijan – when you outsource your song to Sweden this is what you get.

    • Ukraine – upstaged by the ‘backing artist’

    • France – because you’re worth it (great hair…get it… ;))

    • Ireland – nice to see our Irish cousins sending this relaxing, calming, traditional ballad…

And to your Eurovision Excellency, Mr. Graham Norton - welcome back! Hope the Eurobooth is well stocked...

And my requested shout out is for a massive 'bonsoir' to my friends and family throughout the land with love from ajinternational in Edinburgh (not to be confused with ajdomestic...)

Here in Jersey lives a small but determined band of Eurovision devotees. The Channel Islands are not represented, sadly. So we will be watching tonight, eyeing the spangly crop tops and dodgy English accents with envy bordering on rage. But we have a plan for 2012. We want our biggest celebrity, Jim Bergerac, to represent us with an up-tempo ballad. Graham le Saux could perhaps do a rap in the middle. And maybe the set design can include some Jersey Royals. Think you'll agree that, like Charlie Sheen, we would be WINNING.
