Beating the forecasts?

The chat in advance was that the authorities were being deliberately pessimistic about declaration times under the new counting system.
Gossip now is that they could beat those forecasts by around an hour.
Motherwell and Wishaw expected very shortly.

Is the issue with the damage to the ballot boxes in Edinburgh West due to the fact that these boxes are plastic and not metal like the old ones were?

Re Edinburgh West. Where were the police? There used always to be a police officer at every polling station. Though come to think of it, there probably aren't enough police officers to allow that now.
