I still fail to understand why whenever a new executive producer joins a soap, the first thing they do is axe a lot of the cast - or as Bryan Kirkwood said, replace actors. Why the need to recast the likes of Lucy Beale, Ben Mitchell and Laura Branning, for example? Answer I've seen is so that the replacement actors can play more adult roles - you don't think the current actresses are up to it after some of the amazing storylines they've already been involved in? Obviously can't do anything about the likes of Barbara Windsor or Lacey Turner leaving because in both cases it's their choice and some of the ones I actually agreed with but what a shame to see the likes of the characters of Minty, Charlie Slater and Libby leaving, to name but three. A real crying shame those. But isn't that the job of a new exec producer to kill off peoples' favourite characters - whether it is or not, they always seem to do it. :(

Anyway let's see what happens. At least I have Alfie's return to look forward to. Shame Kat's coming back too - never could stand that character *OR* the actress but can't win 'em all I suppose. :)

Well tonight is the night so we will know what happens to Peggy. It is bound to be a great episode. I just want to wish Barbara Windsor lots of love and happiness for the future and thank you for 16 years of contribution to Eastenders. You will be missed.
