To mark the centenary of the First World War, the EastEnders team has filmed special scenes featuring several Walford residents attending a memorial service co-ordinated by Dot Branning (June Brown).

Lee Carter (Danny-Boy Hatchard) also plays a key role in the service. Real soldiers were on hand during filming in order to advise on proceedings.

The scenes will air at the beginning of August.

Tonight’s (Monday 16th June) episode, at the earlier time of 7pm, will also feature a special scene, recently recorded as a topical reference to England's progress in the World Cup.

If Dot has anything to do with it, it will be very well organised! Great to hear that the Square is commemorating World War One's Centenary. I can't wait to watch this episode.

This is a good Idea and very much what Dot Cotton would do. I feel her character has slipped along way down the ladder lately her character is not the same any more
