New face on the Square: Ayesha Rana

Post categories:

Nickie | 09:00 UK time, Friday, 16 November 2012

Say hello to Ayesha Rana, who will be turning up on the Masoods' doorstep this December.

Sweet and studious, but rather shy, Ayesha has lived a sheltered life. Since the tragic death of her beloved father, she has been left alone with a distant mother and uncaring brothers.

Ayesha Rana

Ayesha has agreed to fulfil her father's dying wish, going through with an arranged marriage. Can the Masoods help her? And will her time on the Square encourage this naive young woman to find her voice?

Ayesha will be played by Shivani Ghai, who has previously appeared in Bride and Prejudice, House of Saddam (pictured), Five Days II and Clean Skin.

On her new role, Shivani says "I’ve been watching EastEnders for years and am excited to be joining such an iconic show."

Tune in this December to find out more!

well Nice to see new blood !!! HOW EVER !! Thank God or Allah in your case that Syed and Christian have skipped off in to the sun set and YOUR not going to try and make him STRAIT as that Pathetic story line in Corry with Maria and Marcus is !! that destroyed my faith in Corry so Eastenders has my 100 % commitment !! I have made a few remarks on the corry web site only to have them taken off !!! Get Real Corry !! lets hope you bring some head spinning excitment back to the square its been DEAD for months ! with Cora and Lola Pathetic so bring it on Ayesha and shake the place !!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK !

I'm always excited when a new character is announced, but I'm quite curious to know what Ayesha's involvement will be, and will she be a long-term character? It sounds as if she's just turning up for some advice!

I wonder why Gary Lucy is still on the cast list when Johnny Partridge and Marc Elliott have been written out since early September. Is he going to ruffle somebody else's feathers in the near future? If so, whose?

I must say over and over again what I've said so many times: John Partridge is and will always be a big loss for BBC1 and EE.Thousands of British people as well as foreign nationals like me, for example, have been watching the series just because they think he really steals EVERY scene he's in. It's a crying shame the series chiefs let him go and wrote out so early such a brilliant actor who attracted a huge, devoted fan base. I wish John all the best in his future career and life and just hope to hear from him on Facebook. xxx
