How this blog works
- 10 Mar 06, 05:35 PM
Welcome to BBC Sport's first blog.
Two of our journalists, Sarah Holt and Matthew Majendie,
will be in Melbourne for the duration of the Commonwealth Games and
they'll be sharing their news, gossip, insight and other things that
tickle their fancy.
They want to hear from you too - and your suggestions will help to determine their movements in Melbourne.
For the uninitiated, blogs work like this:
Their most recent posts appear at the top of the page. And at the
bottom of every entry will be two links:
• "Permalink" allows you to bookmark a particular post, or to send it
by e-mail to a friend
• "Comments" invites you to offer your reaction to that entry, or read
those of others
Comments are what set a blog apart from a traditional column because
they create an immediate dialogue between the audience and author.
Sarah and Matt will be reading and responding to your comments, though
the time difference in Melbourne (+11 hours) means they won't be around
much during the daylight hours UK time. The best time to catch them
will be 0100 GMT-1000 GMT.
On the right hand side of the page, you'll see a calendar. Click on a date and you will see that day's items. You can also use an RSS feed of this blog. For more information, please visit our help page.
Please keep your comments clean.
Comments which fail our house rules (see below) may be removed.
If you see a post that is inappropriate, alert us by using the "complain about this post" link and we will act accordingly.
Try to keep your comments short and relevant to the post in question.
This is because long discussions may put off fellow users and make the page very long and unwieldy.
We would encourage readers wanting to engage in longer or broader discussions to do so on our message boards.
We would respectfully encourage users to take up complaints about
general BBC Sport coverage elsewhere, so that complaints can be
directed to the correct person and answered fully.
So, if you have a
complaint about anything on the website, please email us here.
Or if your complaint is regarding the television coverage of the event, please contact the TV team in Melbourne.
You should also be aware of our privacy policy.
We hope you enjoy the Commonwealth Games blog. It will be followed
later in 2006 by a BBC Sport Editors' blog and by our World Cup blog so
watch this space.
