Hello from Miranda
Well, hello to you. Welcome to my first entry for the blog, a word that will always faintly amuse.Blog.
So, on Monday, my show will leave the womb of the edit suite and head on to BBC Two to be judged by the world. I have to call it 'my show' rather than its title Miranda because that feels very weird, being my name n' all. In meetings I have to ask people to call it "the sitcom" otherwise I hear "the thing about Miranda is...", or "when does Miranda finish?". And being in the office hearing people answer the phone "hello Miranda" will always be odd.
It was the producer's idea to call it Miranda, and ultimately I agreed it was right for the show, but it has an unnerving American over-confidence about it, which is not me. And talk about set yourself up for a potential fall! However, I am surprisingly calm about it going out. Whatever will be will be - if people find it and take it to their hearts then wonderful, but I am not expecting anything.
The pleasure, excitement, joy, plus inevitable dollop (another good word) of stress and fear, was making the show, and over the next few weeks I will blog little exclusives to you, my internet lovelies. I might reveal the answer to the question I get asked most ("which bits are auto-biographical?") and I will freely tell you secrets about my cast Patricia Hodge, Sally Phillips, Sarah Hadland, and Tom Ellis. They'll never know!
Till next week. Have a good one.
Miranda (the lady) will be back on the blog next week. Miranda (the sitcom) starts at 8.30pm on BBC Two this Monday. Watch a preview clip from the first episode on Comedy Extra.

Hello Miranda! I must admit, the name seemed a bit out of character for you. Odd, considering it's... well. Your name.
Looking forward to the show, and the tasty tasty secrets ;)

I've just watched your show. I don't watch much many sitcoms (unless you count family guy and the simpsons) but i really enjoyed your show and plan to sky+ it. Funny, pleasant, and really good timing. Brilliant.

Congratulations on a refreshingly different style of sitcom which actually made me laugh out loud...something I've not done in a long time faced with the usual offerings on TV. Really looking forward to episode 2 and I'll be telling friends who missed tonight to watch the repeat.

Hi Miranda,
Great show. As I share your name and am almost your height every scenario struck a chord. Howlingly funny. I look forward to the rest.

Hi Miranda
Your show is by far the funniest British comedy for a long long time. I was quite honestly crying with laughter - had to get the tissues out! The last time I laughed that much was when Del Boy fell through the bar! Hope the rest of the series is as good. Loved it!

Hi Miranda,
I heard this series on BBC7, listened to your recent interview on Woman's Hour...but I have to say, nothing prepared me for just how funny your first tv episode would be...I'm still wiping tears of laughter from my eyes!
Well Done! Can't wait for the next one!

Oh my goodness, Miranda is the best thing on TV for sure. Not seen anything funnier for decades. I watched the first episode after 3 days in bed with flu and literally laughed my socks off. Cant wait for the next one. Well done Miranda you are such a breath of fresh air on the TV. Gonna nag everyone to watch it.

Blimey almighty. The funniest programme on TV since Ab Fab started decades ago. Intelligent, highly bizzare and above all side splittingly, comedy corset explodingly brilliant. Am I over seling it? Most certainly not. Watch it and be amazed at how, with just one episode, you get hooked and can see many, if not all, of your friends in Miranda. She says what many people think. Her comments 'off camera' are inspired and we have laughed so hard we have to rewind the 'plus' box. Miss it at your peril!
Genius.

Just about to watch episode two on iplayer and i'm really looking forward to it! watching episode one was the first time i have actually laughed out loud at a sitcom in very long time! many comedies leave me thinking "oh thats funny.." rather than making me actually have a satisfied laugh! from the other comments i get the feeling i may be one of the younger watchers (ab fab was definitely my mums era!) so its great to know you're putting a smile on faces from those of all generations!
