Noah Nicholas Martin Evans became a threenager today at 0831hrs.

From two to three, and then infinity and beyond.

And what do you know, Ken Bruce's little lad Charlie turned four, also today. And then shiver me timbers, if I didn't end up at The One Show, where I was informed Keeley Hawes - our guest on Friday - also has a birthday today. February 10th is obviously where it's at for birthdays at the moment.

In other news, we're doing Valentine's tomorrow (Saturday), to beat the rush.

Oh, and yes, I agree Daniel Radcliffe is as good a guest as Breakfast Show host could wish for.

...Straight after the show today, it was off to Chelmsford on the back of a motorbike. Why ? Because someone obviously has a weird sense of humour. It was freezing. But also why ? To go and drive on ice - on purpose. Me and The Welsh Wonder Alex Jones. It was for a film for The One Show for tomorrow night. When I say was, at the time of writing it was still an 'is' due to me not being there yet. Hope they have bacon butties. Really, really fancy one today. And not had one for ages.

...the organisation behind the big knees up at Buck Pal is well under way I see. With (Sir - has to happen) Gary Barlow in charge. The perfect man for the job, he's already signed up a Fab Four Knights Of The Realm. Sirs Elt, Macca, Tom and Cliff. But !!! What about The Military Wives? An appearance there for these girls would be an amazing finale to an amazing year.

Here's a plea...

...Who doesn't love a biography ? But the phenomenon of biographies of bands is relatively new to me. The Beatles ? Yes, I've been there but this new read I'm experiencing is more of a ride really. The Led Zeppelin 'Hammer Of The Gods' book is something else.

Other band/non individual biog suggestions are welcome. Thanks. Now I'm off to catalogue some more cassettes whilst listening to Led Zep lV.

Really, very well done to Her Majesty The Queen...

... On everything. She really was and is still the right gal for the job of CEO UK Inc. A steady hand and a calm voice at the helm always. Long may she continue to be the captain of our ship.

In other news, Paul McCartney rang up this morning. Did I know he was going to ? Absolutely not. Not for a second. Thank goodness I read every article about him over the weekend. I always do.

And finally Tash's slow and low all-day lamb roast is what I'm going home to later on. A tantalizing aroma of a treat to come wafting through the house from now until dinner time.

Life is sweet, let's hope the lamb is too.

Gorgeous, blue sky, bright sun - freezing bits off...

...They say it's warmer today. It's all relative but when it gets below cold, further varying degrees don't matter. Basically - wrap up is what we're saying here.

David Walliams was our guest today. I would say from a host's point of view he is a ten out of ten. I remember hearing him in the past on other people's shows and thinking how good a listen it was. Not difficult when David's there. He is clever, funny, naughty, interesting and giving. I'm a big fan.

One Show tonight with Alan Davies, John Barrowman and the fastest illusionist in the world. Off to watch The Daniel Radcliffe film now ahead of his appearance with us next Friday.

In other news, Ken is celebrating a birthday today. It is a seventh decade birthday and so here's me announcing the sixty bit but honking out the one ! "Don't honk out the one" he says ! And of course he's right. If it's a late sixties then honk. If it's an early sixties then don't honk - declare.

Sorry Brucemeister. You rock and always will.

By the way - he really doesn't look it.

...(and see there is no 'I' in team - it's true) - are off out tonight to see Jersey Boys. We genuinely cannot wait. A night out with Moira is always a treat and to a musical ! Jim has fixed it for me again.

Now, here's the thing : Vassos thinks it's about the story of Bruce Springsteen. Do we tell him ? Or do we wait and see if he notices ? The latter, you say. I agree entirely.

A report will be forthcoming on the radio tomorrow.

...It's at times like this we should have a national school television channel that all the little loves can turn to, to save them having to go outdoors. I know childcare would be an issue but hey, I've come up with the first part of the plan, someone else will have to figure out the rest. Crisis equals problem, problem requires solution ergo an opportunity is suddenly upon us.

Kirsty Young washed up on our shore today...

...and brought with her tales of Desert Island Discs, seventy years old this week.

Sir David Attenborough is The Island's anniversary guest on Sunday at 11.15am, sure to be riveting. And what of the other three and a half thousand shipwreckees that have experienced a similar fate ? Well, you can hear five hundred of them again via the BBC Radio website. I'm going there right now to see if David Hockney's is one of them. I know for definite he's been on !

Oh no, I've just remembered, I have to go to The One Show. I'll do it later instead or tomorrow perhaps.

..So long my friends, you've served us well. We'll see you again in eleven and a bit months' time with tales of The Olympics, The Diamond Jubilee and who knows what else ?

It's almost the end of Andy's first week as main producer of The Breakfast Show and I have to say he's the man. Excellent work old bean, especially the digging up of a rival pizza lyric to Jessie J's 'Domino', in the form of Talking Heads' Pizza Hut reference from their track Nothing But Flowers. Now that's good knowledge. Hopefully he'll be here for a while with more !

Kirsty Young for brekkie tomorrow. It's a tough job but . . . Well you know.

Also today - lots of bagpipes and Burns talk this a.m. which I enjoyed immensely. I have never been to a Burns Supper but I will next year. I can't go to one today because I'm attending my big mate John Morgan's fiftieth birthday lunch. I may not even see any of this evening if the usual rules apply and times a few because it's his big one.

Wish me luck, Morgs and his mates have plenty to soak up whatever it is we end up imbibing today, with their six foot sevens plus to my six foot two. Plus they don't have to be up to host a radio show tomorrow morning.

There may be a sneaky exit on the cards circa five - ish.

In other news, I played an unsigned female artist by the name of Phoebe Ray and the reaction to her song 'Enigma' was 100% positive. Hope The Colonel was listening. He's a renowned industry figure who had a hand in signing U2. And yes, he was a real Colonel before getting hip and happening in the music industry.

What do you think, pray tell ? It would be fascinating. I want to hear her choice of music more than anything else. We can only hope. Far more realistic would be my good friend and colleague Moira Stuart. Can't believe they've not done her already. We need to have words and we will ! Kirsty, The Island's current host, will be joining us for Brekkie on Friday.

But one more shout out. The Queen's sixtieth (jubilee) DIDs seventieth. Pleeeeease !
