Afternoon campers

Chris Evans | 16:49 UK time, Tuesday, 19 June 2012

We are hemmed in here in sunny Berkshire for fear of going our for a loaf of bread and not being able to get back for weeks.

We live very near Royal Ascot you see, and there seem to be millions of people here already - and it's only Tuesday.

There is a dead period between twelve and four - and like high tide on a shallow river - this has to be made the most of.

Hope all is well in your world - every spare minute this week and next is going towards organising next week's Children In Need Mag 7 run.

Lots of tinkering with cars and polishing paintwork for well deserved cups of teas. Lovely job!

Peace and love and more tea!

Sounds fun in the sun, CE!! And as you are familiar with Hamble, you will be used to those high tides on a shallow river - one road in and out of pretty Hamble gets a bit chocka as I am sure you will remember!! Just enjoy yourself, father-of-TWO-boys/father-of-three!! I bet getting ready for next week's Children In Need Mag 7 run is probably almost as much fun as the event itself!! You missed wishing me a Happy Birthday yesterday though - thought you might do that as I share it with Macca!! x

    Hello Chris & Everyone.

A lovely sunny day here again but I'm getting prepared for the heavy rain & wind forecast for Thursday onwards :( We have to make the most of it while we can.

You could get an online shopping delivery Chris to avoid the millions of people surrounding your abode.

Enjoy tinkering with the posh cars as I know there is nothing you like better (apart from golf of course, and your lovely family of course, and your deejaying of course and hosting of course)

Best you stay put then Christoff, and dig deep in your freezer!

Glorious here today, not so the forecast for Ladies day on Thursday though. However, they have been known to get it wrong on more than one occasion!

    Hi everyone!

I'm in the midst of cooking lamb shanks, but will be back.

    Evening all.

Nice to see a new blog post.

Pen, lamb here too, just a neck fillet of ( in the reduced aisle, 45p!) hot pan fried and spoonful of mulberry jelly stirred into the 'jus!' Accompanied with some roast butternut squash and braised cabbage. Who said GF food was dull?

Just been nattering to Bids, she is still out 'on tour!' and said to inform those of you that attended the Scottish meet, that at last, it was a 'frock day' I have no idea what that means, but she informed me some of you would!

    Happy Days :)

  • Comment number 6.

Sal, pleased to see you are getting to grips with GF.

Belated birthday wishes Berni. Are you also from 'darn sarf'?

    Quiet here innit?

  • Comment number 7.

    Hi everyone!
Beautiful day here today, shame about the weather in Edinburgh at the weekend though. BUT... it didn't dampen our spirits and a great time was had by all.
I'm surprised you don't have your groceries delivered Christoph, or move out for the duration, it would drive me bonkers having to negotiate miles of traffic every time I wanted to go out! Hoping to see the mag 7 convoy at some stage, let us know the route please?

    Ta ta Lin x

  • Comment number 8.

Hey Christoff!! Have you checked the freezer? You might find a loaf of bread stashed away at the back!

Lovely day here too and we're promised another tomorrow so the washing is on ready for the line in the morning

Sal i thought of you when i passed the reduced section the other day! HEaps of GF loaves - all going for about 10p! You very nearly had a food parcel! ;-)

Berni, happy birthday for yesterday x x

Maddy, hope you're well and all the owrk on your house has finished now

Penny, Lamb shanks! Yum yum! I can't cook lamb for us any more as Mr Sezza has developed an intolerence for it

Lin, Make sure you take photos if you see the cars

    Hi all

Just about dried out now. I came out of work tonight and had to stop once I left the shade of the entrance. It was WARM and SUNNY...

I think Chris must be talking about a metaphorical loaf. When Tash came on t'radio this morning she definitely said that one of the many things she was doing (when she couldn't list the contents of the freezer) was waiting in for the on line supermarket order.

Oh and can I just say Engerland! Engerland! Engerland! Engerland! Engerland! Engerlaaaand! we're through to the quarter finals - I'd better put the flags on the car now....

    Evening all,
Just popping in to say belated birthday wishes to Berni.

Its been nice here for two days , each time the weather forecast comes on i look to see whats hapening in Edinburgh too .
Managed to cut the grass tonight, and trim the ivy without cutting through my solar light cable !
A line of washing will be out from 7am, so if Heather with the weather gets it wrong there will be big trouble.

Right, off to bed, i've not stopped since 6.45am.

    See you tomorrow.

Aawwww, thanks guys!! And yes @PennyForem - I am in ‘ampshire, just outside sarf-amp-ton. How 'bout you?? x

  • Comment number 13.

Sezza-Yes, all the work is finished on the house, I now have a nice new roof over my head and nice new windows and doors. The front door is green, I chose green as that was the colour of the house I was b orn and grew up in. Now thinking of Shakin' Stevens and Green Door LOL! Bingo did my gold stick on numbers for me the other day. I put some on the bin to practise, looked as though someone who had one too many had done it which is why I asked Bingo LOL!

We do have a posh wooden house number on the brickwork which Bingo made many moons ago which still looks as good as new but I like a number on the door too, the door being at the side.

Just done my online shopping ready for Thursday and the wind & rain. If they've got it wrong I'll sit in the garden while I wait.

    Morning everyone

I can't believe the MAg7 has come round again already. Where did those 12 months go? Before we know it, it'll be November ......

Chris, I hope you're on "Fascinator Patrol" for those en route to Royal Ascot, and confiscating any of those ridiculous "hats" to save the blushes of those who think they look good. Apparently, the fashion police are really truly on duty at Ascot this year and there are very specific rules as to the dimensions of one's head gear.

Life's been busy Chez Deevs, the bizziness is still going well with new clients keepnig me occupied. Nic's in France at the mo at his company's annual conference: apparently when they arrived on Monday they were shuttled to the hotel in a mini bus with no air con. And it was 29 degrees in Lyon. Nice! It's weird being home alone but he's coming back tomorrow lunchtime and I'll be at l'aeroport to meet him. I'm tempted to make a cardboard sign to hold up at the arrivals gate but he'll be with his boss and will probably not thank me for it ......!

Off to visit a client this morning then back via ELH later.

Have a happy, shiny day. Because you're worth it!

    Morning campers,

Chris , just popping in to say thank you for playing Bat out of Hell this morning. It lasted for the duration of my drive to work and had me singing all the way.
However, on my arrival at work, looking at my desk, it appears that i have just walked into my very own hell !
Right, off to get on my perch and charge up my taser.
Have a good day one and all.

    Morning All,

A nice bright sunny day in North Kent and I've even got flip flop type things on! It really does lift your spirits to see the sun shining, which I need, as I had a terrible nights sleep. I am feeling a tad overwhelmed by everything at the moment and don't know if I'm coming or going!

I am glad that the Breakfast Show Gang have decided to stay in London as I was worried about Lynn, as she doesn't finish till 12 and then a 90 minute drive to the coast, she'd miss out on the starters or they'd be half way to the Isle of Wight!! One of my many bosses has just rung me from B'mouth, whilst out walking his dog on the beach, you can go off some people you know :)

Belated Happy Birthday to Berni xx

Deevs, Good to read you xx I notice you've been MIA for a while, glad you are OK xx

Right this won't get the baby a new bonnet!

  • Comment number 18.

    Morning all

Shiny, happy day being had Deevs!! So glad to hear business is going well for you

I always think I'd love to have some time on my own in the house, then it feels really weird and I don't quite know what to do when I do!

Watch out anyone who works with MC this morning! :-) I'd recommend standing well back and throwing in chocolate ahead of yourself!

Maddy, sounds like you're snug as a bug in a rug now!

Right, best look busy I suppose!

    Hello everyone!

AliB, how thoughful you are re Lynn, I hadn't thought of that. Moira didn't want to go either. Look after yourself x

Hip x-ray booked next week for gammy leg, taking anti inflammatory tablets in the meantime, should it be something I've pulled!!

Berni, 8 miles south of Guildford, a village just off the A3.

17c here at the mo, with a promise of 22 later, hmmm, we'll see. Clouds have arrived as I type.

    Pen x

  • Comment number 21.

Thanks Ali and Sezza - it's nice to be missed!

I thought I'd give the blog a wide berth for a while as once again (yaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwnnnnnn!) it degenerated into declarations of "I'm leaving the blog" and "I'll never the blog" and "important bloggers" ..... heavens to Betsy people, if you've got summit to say, say it, if you ain't don't! I get truly puzzled why people feel they have to hand in a blog resignation notice, only to return to blogging a few days later.

    It's just bizarre.

    Anyhooo, I'm here now.

I've been out to see a client this morning - always a pleasure and their coffee's good!

Stacks to do this afternoon, including some housework if I can squeeze it in. My justification is that I can't issue an invoice for housework though, so whilst client work calls ...... ;-)

Right, back later for Afternoon Tea & Scones.

    Muchos amore.

AliB, sorry you are feeling a bit overwhelmed , hang in there , it will pass, and if i can help in anyway, please shout .
Deev , glad the business is going well, hard work pays off eventually , good stuff.
Pen, oh no, we will have to get you a parrot for that shoulder if the gammy leg continues :-))
Sezza, well, its a chocolate free zone at work , i only eat it "in my own time" !!!!!
Right, i have so much to do its ridiculous , the job i should have started at 9.30 is just going to get looked at now .

Anyone seen Chrissie? I am worried that she has kidnapped the Westlife boys to stop them from splitting up!! Haven't heard anything on the news though lol

Now for fear of looking like I am boasting or some such I am going to say this anyhow as I am quite excited - you see MsScoobycat and my good self are hoping to have a mini meet on Sunday in Venice!!
It will be the first night of her hollybobs and the last night of our long weekend. i know get me - last weekend Edinburgh and this one Venice. Feel free to join us if you can.

MC and AliB hope things better for you and wish I was nearer to either of you to help lighten the load xx

    Deevs xx

    Love and stuff, Sus xx

Sus, enjoy your mini meet with Scoobs.

  • Comment number 28.

afternoon peeps - belated drop in during a late work lunch - meetings ya know!

Well the Edinburgh trench-foot seems to have receded and I am back in flip-flops - wonderful.

Sus - really envious that you will be in Venice and might see Scoobs and Mr Scoobs.
Only been once but loved it - although the weather was much like that in Edinburgh!
My pal and I stayed in the San Giorgio Maggiore Monastery. It's the white marble church building on an island in the Grand Canal opposite St Marks Sq.
Our room was on the front just to the right of the main door as you face the building. It has it's own balcony.
Such a lovely and unusual place to stay.
Happy hols to you and John - please give Scoobs and Chris a hug from me.

    Work calls, ttfn, Crumpy xx

  • Comment number 29.

    Afternoon each

Back from a meeting in Edinburgh - and it was sunny! Glad the trenchfoot is receding Crumpy.

Susan - am soooo jealous - Venice indeed - have a lovely time and say hellooooooooo to Scoobs.

Pen, you poor soul - a limp and a sore leg and this lot can only make jokes about parrots. I feel your pain.

Deevs, nice to see you, glad the business is doing so well.

    And hello to everyone else.

PS: Chrissie is alive and well, had an email from her this morning. She must be working hard.

Afternoon all - got a chance for a quick catch up

Nice to see a blog meet in Venice - wish I was going boo hoo! the Cockneybird and bloke have been grounded, im in doors has got to have an operation on his middle ear and cant go anywhere near a plane for 3 months, so the caravan is coming out of storage and we are going to spend some of his recoup time flitting around the country catching up with those people you never quite get the chance to see as much as you want to.

glad to see everyone enjoyed the edinburgh blog meet.

Pen hope you get better soon,

deevs stop slacking girlie get on with that there work and hope you are looking forward to you Nic's safe return home tomorrow hope he has been through duty free for you and bought you a nice present (hint hint if he is reading this).

Off to do some stuff for friends helping one couple of good friends to relocate back down by us and he is lodging with us for few weeks during the week as we are closer to his work than where they live at the moment and the other couple we knock about have split up again but it looks final this time, not a lot can be done but we wont fall out with with either of them over it so we are trying to keep social events going with them but not together not easy when they have been a couple for so long.

Trying to sort out other peoples lives is flaming complicated.... ttfn

CB, was that your three worder I heard on Simon's show just now?

  • Comment number 38.

Evening Chris and all, Hope the team enjoyed their lunch today, I have to say that the south coast option sounded fabulous as I was on my way to work this morning.

Glad to see that everyone enjoyed the Edinburgh meet, it was lovely to welcome so many to town. We've managed to dry off, but the next wave of rain is due tomorrow.

This week is mainly involving packing for me, as I'm off to London on Sunday for a two week work secondment. The words "kitchen" and "sink" are coming to mind, trying to pack for two weeks in the British summer...

Hope all is well in blog-land.

Pen - Yes twas me! Caravan Outta Storage! that was my three word wednesday tempted to send Caravan Backin Storage after todays weather.... ha ha ha

I do feel a bit like a counsellor and life coach at the moment, we have a lodger for a few weeks from Monday just to help our friends out, his a very easy going chap so he shouldnt be too much bother but if it means they can save a bit of cash and help them out then I am more than happy to, I hope that one day if I ever find myself in a situation like that then they will return the favour.

Well I spose I had better trawl through my emails the boss in leave so all the drivel he is getting at the moment I am unsubscribing him from in a last ditch attempt to reduce the influx of stupid emails.

Have a good Thirsty Thursday everyone

Long song. Correct me if I'm wrong but I've never heard ELPs "Pirates" on a long song. Now if you want long, look to the prog rockers!

  • Comment number 45.

Christoff!!! Loved the long songs this morning but I had to make a detout on the the way to work to make sure my journey didn't end half way through Layla!!

I think we might need to ask for a refund on the longest day though! If the longest day stays as wet and horrible as it is now, it's going to feel very long indeed!!!

Maybe we can have another longest day when the sun is out!

  • Comment number 46.

    Morning CB

The mind boggles as to "muppetry with car keys" .... maybe that's today's 3 worder for Mr Mayo!?!?

Just off out to walk The Rascal, and yes, it's raining. Joy!

Nic's flight gets in at lunchtime so I'll set off just after 12 to pick him up from l'aeropeurto! Not sure he's had time to do any shopping - to say the itinerary was tight is an understatement. Be lovely to have him home again though. It's been the longest 3 days ever!

We're off to Shakespeare In The Park tomorrow night, and rain is forecast. Last year we could hardly hear the Players as the rain was pinging it down, bouncing off everyone's waterproofs. Half the audience gave up at the interval and went home but we stuck it out and went home with trenchfoot. Looks like tomorrow evening could be more of the same. Such a shame as it's my fave play - A Midsummer Night's Dream. And a soggy picnic is no fun .....

Right, the rain beckons and you know how much I love the smell of wet dog!

    C x

  • Comment number 47.

CB, I'm not sure Thursday is going to stay thirsty for very long - just need to stand outside for a minute with your mouth open and your thirst will soon be quenched!

I do feel sorry for all the ladies who will have put so much time and effort (and money!)into their outfits for Ladies Day. Hopefully it might cheer up before then?

Annie and Penny, I get flitting!! Tis what butterflies do - flit from flower to flower!

My Scots word for today is Dreich!!! (At least that's my best guess at spelling) A word that really sounds how it means!

Sal, What can I say except I wish you would keep popping in, whenever suits you, but you must do what you feel is best

Rosie, It's quite warm down here at the moment and London is always warmer than anywhere! A light kagoula and a sun-hat should do you!

Sezza, I like your description of flitting, and of course you are right!

Deevs, when you've been together as long as we have, a few days break is fab ;)

In a bit of a rush, but I will be back.

Almost as bad as my mistake, which I don't actually think was a mistake ....

As for my clients reading the blog. My clients know me, therefore they are in a position to judge me and make up their own minds, which I'm happy with. What I am not happy with is being judged by those who have never met me and just feel that criticism and sniping from the safety of a keyboard and internet connection is the way forward.

Update on the little fella. His Granny (our neighbour) is back from Newcastle. It is 12 days since his bone marrow transplant and it's going to schedule. Poor little chap's hair has been falling out so they have shaved his head ! Granny going back soon to give parents support.

Well, I have attempted to write on the blog since yesterday afternoon, but I just can't my head round what happens here from time to time. And, I know I am not imagining this - there is always unrest around the time there is a blog meet ...

Cheryl: welcome back - I do realise your reason for taking a break - at times I just wonder if it would be better if Chris pulled the plug. It was me who said "I'm never leaving the blog". I did mean that at the time, but the way things are going, who knows?! However, at another time I also said I am leaving the blog, too. So, perhaps I shouldn't say quite so much!

Nice to hear your news, and you will be very happy to have Nic home today.

MBD: Why? Really, honestly, what do you get out of this - I would love to know.

Sal: no idea what happened last night, but I hope you will change your mind, but I don't blame you if you don't. xx

I know all blogs have lurkers, and that's fine. But when these lurkers just suddenly appear at an opportune moment in order to hurt someone, then I really think it's the pits.

We'll never get an answer to this, guys!

So much I want to comment on, but it will be getting dark soon, so I will just say:

    AliB: hang in there.

Penny: bless you with your gammy leg - hope the X-ray gives you some explanation.

MC: hope your mountain of work is diminishing slightly.

Susan: how fantastic about Venice! Hope you both have a wonderful time, and that you get to meet the lovely Scoobs and MrScoobs. Re: Westlife - ahhh, I knew I had to let them finish the rest of their tour, and I have promised not to stalk them!

    Annie and Crumpy: hiya!

CB: you sound like such a good friend - your friends must appreciate you so much.

Rosie: hope you have a fantastic time in London - hard work, I'm sure, but it should be a great experience. I was going to suggest that you pack for all four seasons, but perhaps Sezza is giving you better advice!

Sezza: I thought the same about the ladies (and those who are not quite ladies) at Ascot today - what a shame the weather decided to break.

Sorry this is so long - better do some work, I suppose!

    C xx

  • Comment number 57.

LOL Pen and PJ - I know exactly what you mean. Been there, felt that, got the t-shirt in a former life but I've missed Nic so much this week - just stupid little things and not having him here to share them.

    Chrissie - thank you.

Maybe in the past we've all been guilty of saying too much and declaring a final farewell or declaration of undying love for this 'ere blog. At the end of the day it's a public forum, "owned" by the Beeb, not us lot. I don't blog as much as I used to because, frankly, real life gets in the way nowadays: not just my business venture, but my life in general has totally changed direction and is now no longer empty, thank goodness! I've made some great (real!) friends here, met the love of my life here and I shall continue to blog when I have owt to say or time to say it but if I go quiet, please, don't ever think I'm having a hissy and ignoring you all. That's not my style.

Well, Randall and I have just had a truly soggydoggywalk experience. Surprisingly there's not a soul about so we did 2 laps of the nature reserve, chased a few birds (he can't figure out how they fly away at the last minute and "win" the battle!). I used the time to do some thinking and planning and now have a nice clear head, all ready to be muzzied again.

Almost time to go get ready for my airport run. How to look gawjus and upwardly mobile in galoshers ...... answers on a postcard please!

    Love, and stuff.

    In spades.

ps: I miss the old bloggers too - if you're lurking peeps, drop in and say Hi! x

    Good morning all,

It's dry here at the mo ,but the sky is looking rather grey and maybe we will be having rain later , but it is on the mild side so that is a bonus.

But can I just tell you all that were not at the Ediburgh Meet ,and I'm sorry that you weren't that although the weather could have been slightly better ,it has filled my heart with sunshine to last me a life time .

Annie,Crissie ,Mary ,and Rosie, thank you all for the lovely warm welcome that you gave us on arriving and for taking care and making sure that we all had a great time had a great time . I am so thrilled to have been a part of it ,but to have met you all again has been the icing on the cake .

What amazed me was that the happy atmosphere and friendlyness of the people all around ,and the Abotsford pub ,there was so much chatter and happiness in that one place alone you could have fed off it fo a life time ,and I'm not joking .I could have sat there for hours just people watching . The Amarone restaurant and Howies restaurant were both beatiful places and the service was superb .

In fact the whole of Edinburgh felt the same and we girls did manage to see quite a bit off it ,managing to see the Castle ,walked down the Royay Mile , Holyrood Castle ,and the Scotish Paliment. We did the imfamous bus tours that mr and mrs MC know quite wel now lol..and lots more really ,Girl racer and my self managed do do some of the steep steps that you can climb up ,that cuts the corners off the roads as they wind up and down around the city .

We were able to meet up again with Gail and David ,always lovey to see you both ,and this time I met of cours Rosie ,such a lovely person ,and Dogwith no brain and her beatiful daughter ,both lovely people and so,so pleased to have met them all .

All in all I have had a wonderful time and had my fill of love ,kindness ,sunshine , hugs ans falulous company to last me for a long time to come ,utill the next time .

    I thank you all...Bids.xxx.

Right, let's go tackle the M6 Toll and M42 - something I've not got used to since my life-changing re-location re-location re-location to the Midlands - soooooooo many motorways, so much more traffic and so much scarier than getting stuck behind a wayward flock of sheep or tractor!

Note to self: DO NOT under any circumstances do a Martine "Love Actually" McCutcheon in the Arrivals Hall because (a) Nic will have his boss with him, and (b) he'll never walk again if I jump on him like that ....!

afternoon peeps - yes it's the lunchtime pop-in.
Weather is poo today. Rain, rain and more rain.

Had to come into local office today as had car problems last night - I was pressing the accelerator, but the car was actually losing power! Put my 'hazard' on and moved into the 'slow' lane on the dual carriage way and after a bit of up and down the gears, it seemed to correct itself and drive ok.
Thought it was just a bit of a blip, but then when pulled up at traffic lights, the bloke in the car alongside me told me my break lights had been stuck on as he was following me! Connected to slowing down? Coincidence?

posting now and part two to follow .....

Need the car to be in working order for my drive to Liverpool airport on Monday for my trip to France!

Bids - did you get to the Cotswolds?

You ask why I post on this blog.

The truth is that I really enjoy winding up people like you!

I feel unalloyed joy when I think of you sitting in your office full of righteous indignation, your little fingers pounding the keyboard of your computer.

    You asked, now you know.

Ps getting that blogger all het up last night was a bonus, as I don't know who she is and have never addressed anything in her direction. I guess some people just can't mind their own business.

Bids - which bit of the Cotswolds did you go to? Nic took me to Bourton-on -the-Water last year for a mini break and it was just one of the best places I've ever been in my life. Beautiful part of the country.

Crumpy - I couldn't be doing with that scary car shennanigans. Rather you than me, but stay safe x

Well, we're back home now. The M6 Toll was fab - empty and devoid of huge lorries! Also took my iPod and had U2 accompanying me all the way, always a pleasure.

I've got a few clienty bits to do this afternoon and then it's a takeaway treat for us and possibly a beer run beforehand - and the footie's back tonight - huzzah!

Right, life's back on track and I'm smiling. And Crumpy, early night? What are you talking about woman ....!?!?!

CB: yep, you are right about the positive and the negative of the blog. I've tried this before, and by gum, I am going to try it again!

Crumpy: sorry to hear about your car - it's just one thing after another, isn't it? Hope you get it all sorted out. xx

The longest day of the year, and it's getting dark already. Hasn't stopped bloomin' raining all day.

Made a huge mistake this morning - set off to go over the bridge, forgetting all about the Highland Show - 2 hours!!, 2 hours!! I sat in a queue.

Crumpy, hope the car doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

PJ, hope the wee boy starts to get better now.

Deevs, have a lovely evening with your other half.

Bids, nice to see you back and it was lovely to see you at the weekend.

    Helloooooooooooooooooo to everyone else.

  • Comment number 73.

    Hello all.

Certain things I have found out today have been very interesting.

I don't really understand why Sally was so upset by MBD's moderated post and yes, I do lots of counting everyday with my grandchildren.

Bullying to me is a person who deliberately intimidates or is cruel to weaker people and there is quite a few of them on here today.

Thank you MBD and to the other people who have kept friends with me and chatted to me today, if it wasn't for these people I would not have posted here tonight.

Never let the bullies win whoever they be!

And if you don't like this post please just ignore it.

    CSN. xx

  • Comment number 74.

I'm sorry I have to step in here.

I am not sure who is being referred to as being a bully but I have to say that I do not agree. Having met most of the posters on here today, none of them can remotely be described as bullies in any way, shape or form. I have not seen anything posted recently that can be described as bullying either. Yes, the counting game has upset some people, including me, but we have learned to ignore it and scroll through.

Can I also say what a great time I had in Edinburgh, I'm sorry I was a bit of a wet blanket (I now have the cold that was brewing.....)

    p.s. I'm not leaving either

  • Comment number 75.

    Evening Each,

    I'm not leaving either!

Thanks to those who've given hugs and told me to hang on in there, I really appreciate it. I decided that I can't do it all, I am not super woman and also that the world won't stop turning if I haven't done what I am supposed to have done today.......so there ;) Seriously though, thanks you are ace xx

PJ, Glad the little one is on the mend, still a long way to go I am sure xx

Bids, Thanks for asking about my little friend, I can only say that a miracle has occurred. Last Thursday she was told to go home as there was nothing more that could be done for her. At the time she was just too ill to go home, and the doctors took her off the chemo and antibiotics. Since then she has improved!!! Her white blood cells have increased and the doctors said they wouldn't! She even got up after three weeks and walked outside this week.

I don't know who or what people believe in, but I believe that God has performed a miracle, and he's the one I'm thanking. But I am also thanking all of you for remembering Tina and offering prayers and positive vibes. I can't thank you enough xxx Keep on though, she's not out of the woods yet.

I've been doing a Foodbank collection at the bottom slapping store today - wow - my faith in human kind has been restored, there really are some very generous people out there.

Right time for a brew and the footies on.

Ali, what lovely news about wee Tina, I hope she continues to get better.

And yes, remember to look after yourself too.

  • Comment number 77.

I wasn't going to say anything, I'm not part of the lovely ladies group who Sal refers to who communicate off this blog but I'm entitled to have my say the same as anyone else.

From what I can see the blog takes on the same pattern, MBD makes a negative remark about Chris which he is entitled to do, I'm sure Chris is well used to this being a celebrity as it comes with the job. A certain number of people on here jump to his defence and want the critic removed and do not like any other blogger to chat to him.

This blog is for everyone and we must all respect each others opinions even if we disagree with them. To gang up and try to remove someone for not agreeing with them is a form of bullying. Unless the remark is offensive to an individual of course. From what I can see the first provocative remark is always aimed at MBD by someone in response to his negative remark about Chris.

Re the numbers thing, this is just a silly bit of nonsense and as far as I can see is not offensive to anyone. Simply scroll down if irritated by it.
Sal-I too learned to count in primary school, I remember a few weeks ago you joining me in a bit of silly nonsense beating me to 100. And isn't this is what takes place on the Mayo blog?

Thank you everyone for the lovely words after the Edinburgh meet. It's back to weather that we had last weekend: gie driech! I was back in my waterproofs today, minus the spotty wellies though!

Thanks for the packing advice! I think I'm more or less sorted. We have a few trips and visits planned already to fill our free time, so I think it's going to be a packed two weeks. I'm even excited about the train journey down, as I've never been past Newcastle on the East Coast line. Sad I know!

    Hope everyone is keeping dry.

Ali, I am so glad to hear the news about your little friend, i really hope this continues too. It's hard to step back sometimes, and stop micro managing everything . I am my own worst enemy, and my "to do " list grows out of hand, and I drive myself harder to get the impossible done. Glad you are ok, be kind to yourself .

MTD sorry to hear you now have a cold, you need to get some maltesers down you . Hope you are feeling better soon.

We brought five boxes of Scottish shortbread home from Edinburgh. Mr Mc took three to work, and two were left here . We have just finished the first box , and it was lovely . The other box is calling me !!

It's raining , I'm sooooo tired of it now , will someone please make it go away.

Hello from a one-time regular blogger who has been lurking recently. Anyone who remembers me will know I like to put in my threepennyworth, so here goes.

I have fond memories of the blog, I had lots of fun here. It was vibrant, it was dynamic and above all there were many contributers.

In my opinion this all changed when the Blogmeister himself moved towards Twitter, The One Show and of course his column in the Daily Mail (or is it the Mail on Sunday, I don't know, I would rather stick pins in my eyes than buy either - although I might catch a sneaky peek at the hairdressers). He lost touch with the blog, and this would seem natural. He also started to seriously get on my nerves on the Breakfast Show, but I won't go into that.

Whatever happened, without a stimulating blog on a regular basis it floundered, despite the best attempts of a few stalwarts whose resilience is to be admired.

Along came MBD. Now, I must confess originally I thought he/she was Tough Task Ted/Barney( to name but two of his existences) but I really don't think it is, as although he delighted in being provocative he was witty and, when called upon, compassionate and fair. PP maybe? - only if she has worked hard at disguising her writing style.

MBD only revealed today what is screamingly obvious. He/she likes winding people up, not for the debate which might ensue, but just because he/she loves the thought of it. Hey ho, there are many such folks around. We used to have a policy of ignoring the negatives on here. It was my old virtual friend Beezer who told me that. There's no other way.

I'm not planning to hang around, I am a very busy person as that cat used to say on the advert (Gas?Electricity?). I just feel that maybe a more objective view might be of interest.

And so, I don't actually really hold with this type of blogging BUT I'm going to say a special hello to: Still-hanging-on-there bloggers from my day- Chez, Chrissie, MC, Debs, Sezza, Annie (whyaye man), Ali, Jakeygirl, Baggy, Crumpy, Mary, Dozy, probably missed some, sorry.

And hello if you ever lurk: Tinsel, Hazel (never forget your wedding poem x), Rips, Alright Flower, MWa, and undoubtedly many more. And TTT. Oh and Debbie the 1st x.

Boleyngirl. Chris's life has changed in so many ways since he did Drivetime. I think his twittering is decreasing too. He does the Breakfast Show, The One Show, The Mail on Sunday Live Mag column (which I always enjoy reading online), charity golf and motoring events, amongst many other things. Not to mention the fact that he is a family man with three children. How he manages to do all this I don't know.
