Welcome to Super Thursday
I had no idea but today 800 books are published in the retail trade and that's what they call it - apparently it's massive.
Mine should be there somewhere in amongst them all! Probably in between Peter Kay and that Ant and Dec.
We have the launch tonight where a lot of the people who star in my story will get to meet each other - from my old bosses, to past girlfriends, the whole of the Drivetime team, ladies and gentlemen of the press, my daughter, her mum, Tash and her family. Should be some night...
Of course there is also a quiz, there has to be! I love a quiz. Unlike Danny Baker who can't stand them and has declared his intent to arrive only after the last question has been posed. Hilarious! He's a strange fish that one.
Off next week a-touring with yee old tome.
Leeds then Manchester on Monday, Glasgow followed by Newcastle on Tuesday, Liverpool - Birmingham Wednesday, then London Thursday, Bristol and Cardiff Friday.
AND THEN - Saturday Kitchen for a record second time and yes I'll be cooking again - although not quite sure what yet.
Back at the ranch, James Martin returns the favour by joining us tonight, battered cod cheeks an' all ! Gonna drag him along to the launch afterwards, Billie wants to meet him.

What I'd give to be there at the party this evenng. To be in the same room as your good self, Danny Baker and the likes....what a hoot.
Disappointed you're not coming Norfolk way on the signings but heyho you can't be everywhere I guess. Once again, good luck to you and hope you get to meet some of the bloggers on your travels, methinks Bingo might put in an appearance???

As per usual I posted on the previous blog just as this one came up, so aplogies for posting same thing twice:
Chezza, no it's not just you! There is mass hysteria in primary schools a the moment, I had a little boy put his hand up in a lesson yesterday and say "I've just sneezed on my hands" and there was uproar. I suggested he go and wash his hands and someone cried "don't let him touch the door handle!" so I had to send someone with him, in the manner of a leper ringing a bell and shouting "unclean unclean". Yet walk through the dining hall at lunchtime and you will see atrocities against hygiene which would scare a sewer rat!
And little boys' loos - where they go to wash their little hands - are still the "no mans land" they ever were, bless 'em, how ever often they get cleaned.
Anyway, count me in for CiN.

Hurrah CLP, what a blast!
Ordered my copy on Amazon but since it's not due to arrive for a couple days, when I'll be across the Irish Sea, grrr, am off shortly to get me another to read aboard HMS Zanussi. The Amazon one will come in handy under the wobbly leg on Renee's dinin' table so all is well.

The Welsh Coast looks so close and am watching the planes at cardiff airport, yes I am a plane spotter!!
Can also see all the wind turbines a bit further along the coast towards Swansea.

Firstly..Bingo, if you are not feeling better by later get yourself checked out at docs..dont want to worry you poppet but my appendicitis started as what i thought was the worst case of food poisoning ever and your symptoms are similar...but hope you are feeling better and it was just dodgy quiche!
Books..so many to choose from the CLP of course top of the list! What we wouldnt all give to be there tonight eh?! However, a mini blog meet happening at the Trafford Centre on Monday night...AF,MC,JG and myself attending and having tea too (note TEA, not dinner..thats what we eat oop north!)..anyone else wanting to join us then please yell and we`ll send details!

Seza. I know what you mean about the call centres; I always feel deaperately sorry for the ones who have to man them. Because by the time I get to speak to a real live person, I'm usually fit to eat the head right off 'em, RAGIN'. And it's not THEIR fault; I usually start by apologisin' for my rabid mood, telling them not to take it personally, but then lettin' rip anyway.
I'm remembering the poor girl who had to deal with me when I attempted (for the second time) to pay me motorway toll for the M50 in Dublin on a premium-rate number in Ireland. She was absolutely lovely, ended up laughin' with her. And you know why, because she let me rant on briefly and then said, "Right, let's sort this out quickly, I'm so sorry about this.." Ergo I felt acknowledged and heard, and all was well.
Still didn't get it sorted, mind; in fact, the whole system was a bit up the creek to the extent some poor chap out in Queensland who hadn't bin near Ireland for 40 years got a bill in the post from Eurotolls, and a little aul farmer from Galway got charged 50 euro despite only ownin' a wheelbarrow.
Still. And might I say it's good news, it seems to me, that unscupulous restaurants are no longer to be allowed to pay beneath the minimum wage, making them up with tips. That seems to me to be immoral, never mind illegal. But maybe I'm being naive? I mean, I know I'd never be able to run a restaurant, Fawlty Towers would look like Claridge's next to Clodagh's Crumpet Emporium..and I know times are catastrophic for them at the moment, but I can't see how that can be justified.
Ok, GD is about to whisk me off to Liverpool, hurrah am so lookin' forward to readin' The Book.

I had a surprising encounter on the phone today which turned our better than I had anticipated. Got my credit card bill yesterday and there was an amount from a well know insurance company on it. Not knowing what this was for I rang them and they said it was for Breakdown Cover?!? So I said that I had a new car and when I rang to change my policy they told me about breakdown cover and I said that I had it free with my car so wouldn't be needing it. Sorry they said, we will refund the money! That was a turn up for the books, I was expecting to have to argue the toss with them...happy days :)

I've not had a minute tonight, straight to ELH with Mr JG as soon as I got home for a mega-shop! He wanted to go and see whether they had anything new - trouble is, it then costs me a fortune!
We are both amazed at what we crammed in the boot of my car, although he did have to nurse the loo rolls on the way home..hehe!!

Time really does fly.
The North Rim, Monument, Bryce and our beloved Zion now feel like really distant memories.
And to think, this time last week we were rolling the dice for the final time in Vegas.
Mind you, to help escape the tedium of the office day we do have the beautiful countryside around us here, and this evening we took a walk around past the badger's sett, listening to the owls hooting and watching the deer canter across the fields. The wild west of the USA may be fun, but Rudgwick ain't so bad.
Needless to say, we are busy plotting and planning the next trip. Probably not another road trip so soon after this one, but we need something special for next year as it is my 'graduation year', the year where I hit a certain age and will possibly have to act grown up for the first time in my life. In addition to this, we are also plotting our 'gap year'. In ten years time we figure we can take a year out and go round the world, to countries - and indeed continents - that we have never stepped foot in.
It is good to dream.
Oh, and on that note, I have pretty much shaken off the jet lag.
Oh, and on another note, I got my copy of 'The Book' today.

Chris - You really don't need it, but good luck with the book.
Through all of your ups and downs you always seemed to be honest (not always to your advantage) so I'm hoping the book will shed some light on some of the darker moments and allow a lot of those that knock you to see the other side, which maybe they chose to ignore at the time!
Anyway - who cares?
Could life be any better for you than it is right now?
As for the signings - I cold be in pretty much any one of those Cities next week, but I think a stop at Glasgow on the way to Aberdeen seems most likely.

Fingers crossed I get there though, they'd been ringing here all evening to try to get Mr JG out as there are 600 houses without gas somewhere...so maybe the shopping wsn't so bad after all from his point of view!

Booked a cottage in Little Haven years ago, for Xmas and then New year at Strumble head.
Little bit of paradise, till I fell down the stairs in cottage, still think I was pushed, but no-one believed me. Spooky!!
We are going to be really brave and have booked a Park resorts luxury mobile home.
Lets just say, it had better be as good as they make out OR it will be free.
Me n Mr and 4 teenagers, but GDs boyf taking his car so me and Mr free to go to Tenby on the day they do Oakwood.
I normally do ALL the rides just to shame them but having done lunch lately have got a taste of the finer life.
Swings and roundabouts, nice lunch for the price of entry to theme park.
Sorry I will miss you.

Hi Mc - you're not wrong.
Have had to take time out this week to look after NO1 son as the CMM was being oFsted'd and he's poorly.
What I don't know about Star Wars (the clone wars) ain't worth knowing.
Went to my daughters harvest festival assembly this morning, incredible production. How do they get the kids to do all of that?
She also very excited about Halloween, which is odd as we pretty much ignore it, but the bit she is most looking forward to is "tricky treating"!
Also - mowed the lawn for what I suspect will be the (symbolic) last time this year....Booooooo! I always leave it as late as I can, as it sets how the garden will look over the winter, whilst you gaze out of the kitchen window trying to remember what it was like to be able to sit out there...much like now actually after this summer!
God I'm rambling tonight....more than usual obviously

Rips Boy1 birthday is Halloween. Try not too say that too often as sometimes very appropriate. Try not to always make it a Halloween Party but have had most memorably Harry Potter Party complete with Dragon Egg Hunt & Broomsticks - Firebolts of course - in party bags & Trick & Treating with Mickey Mouse in Magic Kingdom.
Never go Tricky treating tho cos always busy doing something else.
This year we going to see Fleetwood Mac. Not sure what boy is doing

MTF, I love Oakwood, especially the toboggan (sp) and the Cobra water slide, although it's a bit chilly for that! Mr JG has also done the big Bungee Swing thing twice!! Last time we went, we put Finlay in their day kennels, and had a brilliant day!

Unbelievable - I've been at death's door for about two weeks and nothing....the boy gets a temperature and it's big news.

ELO - I've said it before and I'll say it again - Mr Blue sky is my most fav song in the world ever - and used to be my theme tune when I workied in a pub - although recently an old friend said that he thought 'Brown eye girl' was my theme tune as that song makes him think of me in the pub - which is nice!
Worked silly long hours yesterday and havent got a snowsball chance in catching up on the blog - and next week will be twice as bad - I'm working hard for the money!

I used to be a Venture Scout leader teaching them rock climbing, parachuting, cannoing and white water rafting. Used to do a lot of walking. Then the red tape started coming in and it got so difficult to do anything remotely exciting with them, so I left and went to college and got my Doctine in Satellite, telecommunication and electronic engineering. While doing that they closed down the venture section and never bothered going back to the scout movement.

Just had email from big river comapny to say that as they had reduced the price of said book after they dispatched it to me, they would refund me the difference!! Nice big river company!

Morning all. Lovely and sunny here too.
And so we wait.......... number 1 for a call to see if I can escape to Norwich this week-end and number 2 ELH failing me big time. Had a phone call - computers all down - you will get your shopping - whenever - and that may I add is minus clp's book cos when I went back in last night to change my order - not there!
I just hope the day improves!

It would seem that the warmer my laptop gets, the stickire the keys, so just going around them with a cocktailstick and screen wipe.
Its just dawned on me how little I know about most of the keys on it and their purpose in life!!
So, if I was to ask once a day, so as not to drive you all mad, or be too much for my mind to take in, what a certain key meant, would someone be so kind as to give me a clue.

Alt - I use when I reboot ie Ctrl, Alt, Delete.

I think his 3121 album was totally under-rated. Fab album. His recent album MPLsound is brilliant as well, but don't know whether you can play anything from that on the radio...

If you are working in Excel and you type something in a cell then press alt & return together, it will start a new row within that cell rather than moving you into a new cell.
Also if you press alt & tab together it will flick you between programmes you have open
Don't know anything about alt gr though, think it's just there to fill in a gap.

Thank the Good Lord it's Friday, I feel everso tired today, I think my get up and go has got up and gone. Still I've just hoovered and dusted the office, funny that my male colleague never seems to do it?!?!?
Lovely day in Kent, lets hope it stays like that for the weekend. I have nothing wild or exciting planned, but I might have to start that changing the summer for winter wardrobe malarky. The poor washing machine will be working overtime.
I'm off to the bottom slapping shop after work and might do a Deevs and purchase some "pink" frillies and of course if I happen to see Chris's book that might just fall into my trolly!

Howaya chaps. Phew. My backside has just made contact with a seat and the laffin' gear round a nice cuppa tea, bin' runnin' round like a madwoman all day (oy.)
Have to say, Rips, yous do seem to see a lot a FPs on your travels. You're not one a them PacketaDazzis are yous? Go on yous can tell us. If I catch yous lurkin' behind a bush pointin' the Box Brownie at ME in me curlers an' scavengin' in my bin you won't 'alf get a slap.
Am only jealous, like. It is to my eternal rage that one evening outside the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin, the handmaiden Jean and meself spotted Louis Walsh and flirted straight over to 'imself, thrustin' the camera at Damian so he could do the honours. There we were, on either side a poor besieged Louis, posin' like a pair a right gobdaws, Jean askin' "Ooo what d'you reckon, Louis; have we got the X Factor?", to which he looked us up and down and replied disdainfully, "Max Factor, more like.." and FLASH. Damian took the photo. Delighted. It was only when I checked said photo that the horrible truth dawned; the awful eejit had cut all our heads off. D'Oh.
Anyway, am off to pack for me latest missionary trip. See what the mood is like after the latest attempt by Europe to pull 'em into line.
By the way am off to Cork after Dublin next week. Will inspect your handiwork bless yous. Now where's that spirit level. I know I had it a couple a weeks ago when I was measurin' out that Harvey Wallbanger.

Blimey Clodagh, have you no fear - If I saw Louis Walsh I'd definitely be running, just not towards him!
To be fair, if you have breakfast opposite R1 you are going to see the odd celeb (and the dozens of Paps who all drive black cars and vans with blacked out windows and all look a bit woo and a bit wah!
