Tonight the team are out for a bit of nosebag...
...to say well done and thank you to Crackpot Craig who sadly leaves our merry band tomorrow.
Craig is simply a joy to work with and have around. He is a cool young dude, wears his pants low showing off his boxers and yet they magically don't fall down - all that sort of thing, you know. He is also so slim, he and his house mates recently had a "who can put any respectable amount of weight on" week. If only.
I remember when he first came to work for us, which was a couple of years ago now but as always seems like only yesterday - a phenomenon that continues to become ever more amazing to me, even though I should be getting used to it.
I suppose what this means is that we have all been having a blast working on our little show - which I am almost certain is the case. 41 shows left Craig and we won't be far behind you. Where did those four years go ?
Good luck my young friend and thanks from Hells Bells, Suzie Soux, Scouse Sarah, Jonny, Foxy, Sally and Nigel, myself and of course the listeners.

Clodagh - bless you hon. Another sleepless night for me - I think I've had about 10 hours sleep over the last 3 nights and am absolutely shattered and fed up with sounding like a mating walrus. So, tonight after work I go to see the Doctor!
Drugs will hopefully sort me aht. And if they don't sort me aht, then the cost of the presciption will bankrupt me.
It's really foggy here today up dahm Essex so driving in was fun, to say the least.
I admire Crackpot Craig being able to wear low-slung jeans without falling down. How does that work? Being a lady of a certain age, complete with curves, I never have a problem with things falling down, strangeley enough.
Will dip in and out as per norm.

Re: texting - I am the world's worst. Of course, my complete aversion to all things technical doesn't help. It takes me 10 mins to type any message into my phone, and then invariably I can't find the number I need, and then I end up deleting the message by mistake. Frustrating does not begin to describe it!
Clodagh: from the previous blog re: the bollard outside Bewley's. My sister and I went to Dublin with our gorgeous brother six months before he died from cancer (three years ago). We had had a brilliant day together and were making our way back to the hotel, and we stopped outside Bewley's as he needed a wee rest. He leaned on that bollard and as I watched him, I thought, I will never forget this. So, when you mentioned it last night, it brought back such lovely memories for me. Sorry about your car, though - and don't you feel bad about giving the bollard a kicking!

I think the texting must be an age thing. I can't be done with the l8er m8 culture. It's wrong!
However, when I was in 6th Form (c.1985) we were asked by our English teacher to write an essay on what our ultimate competition prize would be. My best friend (to this day - she's wonderful!) turned and asked me how to spell the word 'competition'. I suggested she sound it out in her head and break it down, to which she came up with the now-legendary "com-par-tish-un".
I guess that's what you get for spelling using symantics with a deep Essex accent!
And yes, I still rmeind her of that faux pas on a regular basis!

Heard this morning that a lovely old lady I knew, who we all called Auntie Bertha, passed away last night. She had just turned 96 on Monday. She truely was a wonderful, wonderful woman. Our loss is heaven's gain.

I think the texting issue is definitely an age thing. I send mine with capital letters, apostrophes and full stops. The worst thing is when they don't even use spaces between the words and it takes an age to work out what it says.

Had a day off yesterday and spent it with my nephew cycling round the lake near my mums... nothing like a day with a 4 year old to make you see the world in a new way again..and kn**ker you out to boot..fab!
And just going back to the car thing on yest blog..my first brand new car was one of the Bavarian ones..tip for the day..they really need to make the reverse sensors louder..i was wondering what that `beeeeppppp` noise was as i reversed out my drive and slap bang into the car parked opposite... in a 3 week old car - doh!
Right..off to supermarket to see if they have any rood fruit in, fruit covered in choclit or failing that...just choclit..i`m not fussy!

Texting - my mother sends me blank texts, which tells me there is one coming, usually prefixed by the phrase "Did you receive the text I sent you at..." and I get texts from my father, all in block capitals with the word END at the end, so I know it's the end!
I would be happy for 2 months work, let alone 2 years!

Errrrr one thing a know for sure i'm very, very creative, a love wreeting be it jokes, 'umour or music... the only thing 'ow do yer get involved with the best ter ave any chance at becoming the best yersen???????
Ave tried 'aving guitar lessons, producing music etc with people, ok they are way more experienced than me and better ter a large degree, but a find they are so negative and sort of end up denting yer confidence/ putting yer down & stopping yer get forward!!!!!
Probably why they ave noot goot anywhere BIG with their careers!!!
But the one thing ave always noticed... am so more creative than any of these dudes... somehow a need ter find me steeping stone, me niche, discover what ave goot and push it further!!!!
So many now top people 'ad ter overcome the negative people... Az a quick example: JK Rowling, she went arooound so many publishers who all thought 'er 'arry Potter boooks we a no go and.... perhaps... potty!!!!!

After all a feel more like a belong around showbizz people, kind of on a similar wavelength.. A remember a found that out when a waz 14/ 15 and met Norris McWhirter, Jonny Ball, Dennis Law and the directors of BR... when a goot inter The Guiness Book Of Records.... A found it very easy ter talk ter these dudes!!!!
Then after reading in CLP's boook that 'e did similar by stalking Timmy Mallett, a thought WHATTA COINCIDENCE and why noot give it a go!!!!!! Although noot the stalking bit!!! Just friendly visitng a like ter call it!!!!
So yesterdee a turned up at R2!!!!
A met CLP's producer, aka 'elen from 'ull, for the first time and whatta very nice person!!!!
She toook me up ter see CLP wreet next ter the 'eart of the control centre of R2 aka the studios.... my goodneesss a can feel the energy up there.... the creative force of the airwaves!!!!!
Any way 'ad a nice conversation with CLP, 'e waz 'elpful although am noot sure if 'e just thinks am a delusional nut case with no actual proven talent!!!! But still 'e did take the time ter see me which waz very nice of 'im!!!!
But again yer gotta be positive and try these things!!!! Maybe CLP doesn't think am anutter.... maybe a frighten CLP with me charisma of life... JOKING!!!!!

Texts - I find with predictive texts you can get alternatives which are related to the word you are actually after e.g. tart and vast, good and home, amy and cow, cow and boy, smirnoff and poisoned!

Bingo: well done for having the guts to go along to R2 and get to meet TWO of your heroes! I would have been terrified.
Well, you have been told what to do: offer your services (I take it, without payment) and show what you can do. As CLP says, this is how he started - at the bottom - and look where he is now. If you have the talent (and I suspect you do!) it will shine through and who knows where you will be, say, five years from now?!
Go for it - if you get the chance, grab it with both hands, and when you are in charge of R2, don't forget your old blog pals!!

Chrissie. I'm SO sorry if my tale of the aforementioned iron bollard hit a raw nerve, hopefully all it did was revive a sweet memory. And in future I shall pat said edifice as I pass. And take a cloth to it, there's still silver paint on it after its altercation with my passenger door.
Now don't get me goin' with the Old Trouts an' textin'. Renee wouldn't be able for it as she already thinks mobile phones are Voodoo, and I'm still reelin' from the time I nipped out to the GD's and left my phone behind on the sofa, only for said daughter to receive a right eggy call to tell me to come back quick, as it wouldn't stop ringin'. Somewhat p***ed off, I hared back, wonderin' who was tryin' to get a hold of me so urgently; it turned out that the first call was from the bezzy mate Linder, then the following 11 missed calls were from Renee herself. Tryin' to tell me me phone was ringin' off the hook.
That and the mad rage she gets herself in when the phone won't change the TV channels, the blood-pressure monitor hasn't got a diallin' tone, plus the mayhem of the entire Fire Services get alerted to put a new battery in the smoke alarm, no, I fear textin' is out of bounds for Renee.
Anyway am mightily relieved it's not just me who turns inta Nora Batty upon receipt of txt spk Gr8,CUL8tr ... grrrrrr me nose has gone all wrinkly and am dribblin' a bit just thinkin'...

I nearly ended up in the ditch en route to Docs!! Cheers CLP!
So, no antibiotics - just steam, 4 times a day. He's given me a prescription and said if I'm not feeling any chipper over the weekend, then to cash it in and start taking the tablets. I WILL get rid of it before Loverpool, if it bleedin' kills me ....! Oh and temp slightly up, which is odd as I'm cold!
Meant to be going to an allotment cttee meeting tonight but Mr Deevs has let me off the hook - probably to stop my coughing interrupting proceedings!

Hi all, hope you're all ok, it's p*****g down with rain ehere in the 'burgh.
Hope you are giving Crackpot Craig a good send off... sure we'll hear all about it tomorrow!I have one pair of low(ish) slung jeans which are oh so comfy, though they had a downside when at a friend's Twister party a wee while back on the photies I noticed I was showing quite a lot of knicker when I was bent over! Oops!
Back to work tomorrow, counring down to Sunday when my working day gets an hour and a half shorter! Yay! Will be done and dusted at 4:30 each afternoon rather than 6, so I'll be able to catch so much more of CLP and his last remaining Drivetimes.
Going to watch Glamour's Golden Age on BBC 4 at 8, all about the London party scene in the 1920s. Love the style and glamour of that era, not sure what the women of that tiem would make of me nowadays though as I live in me jeans and am not very good at walking in heels...

I've made it back from the Isle of Grain, it was a bit dicey out there, really foggy and the road is one of the most notorious in Medway. But I kept to 40 even though people were right up my backside, they might be tired of living - I'm not!
Thanks for your kind words about Auntie Bertha, she was a remarkable lady but she's with her Lord now and free from pain.
It was great to hear Bishop John, what a man and I too would love to be a fly on the wall when him and Chris have dinner. Now you've probably noticed that I'm a church goer, half the jobs I do are for the church - I'm not going to preach and I don't normally wear my heart on my sleeve. But being a Christian is a relationship not a religion. I wouldn't be without my faith and I can tell you at times it crumbles but I know that somewhere in the great scheme of life there is someone out there looking out for little old me. Chris was right the church needs less "grey" people! Just wanted to share that. OK sermon over.

Ere girls don't get me goin' about the olbas oil. Not with Doctor Granny here, Renee.
I swear. Yous daren't scratch your nose around Renee but she's got the olbas oil out an' squirtin' it all around. The place smells like bathtime down the rugby club by the time she's done. Can cure a wooden leg, apparently. And don't complain within 'er earshot if yous pull a muscle, twist your ankle or get the frozen shoulder, either. She also advocates the use of a healthy squirt of pure alcohol for that, straight from the fridge. Followed by herself brandishin' one a them sticks with 2 wooden balls on the end to welt it round the affected area.
Am sure I must've told you this, so apologies if so; but I've a marvellous memory of the DDF Eric when he was afflicted by deafness in one ear. Refused (wisely) any help from Renee but the woman is a dangerous psychopath and not to be deterred. Ergo in the early hours of the morning, lyin' awake an' starin' at Eric sleepin' peacefully, ear upwards, she could resist no longer. So she crept downstairs and warmed up-when I say warmed, I mean to crouton-fryin' temperature- some olive oil. Armed with said oil in a dish and a tablespoon, she entered the bedroom, straddled the sleeping Eric, and dropped the oil from a great height down 'is ear. The shout that ensued from Eric as he leapt vertically upwards, battin' 'is head and roarin' at Renee, "You silly born bugger!! I thought me bloody head had exploded!!" is one I shall remember to my dyin' day, and think of whenever am feelin' miserable.
Now, I'm not as convinced as Renee that it was the hot oil that cured him, I suspect it was more the primal desire for self-preservation, but Eric never, ever complained of a bunged-up ear again.
Meanwhile I sleep in a balaclava with a baseball bat and some mace spray beneath me bed and never, ever complain about ANYthing that's bunged up.

GREAT to be home, and with a day planned at Chessington world of exspenses tomorrow, at least I'll get to spend a day of half term with the kids.
It's been a Sh*t week and I will be glad to see the back of it.

Both adults smoking, when all of a sudden the driving became erratic as the driver combined turning a left hand corner with winding his window down to throw out his spent fag!
You'd have thought - at the very least that they would have had the windows opened anyway!!!!!
Also - Can't bear text language and have never used or responded to it.
I'm not however going to criticise anyone for poor grammar or spelling - for very obvious reasons!

Mind you, you've just reminded me of Eric again, chuckin' 'is fag out the window as we hurtled up the M6 in the fast lane. Unfortunately, he didn't spot that said fag had blown back in until his crutch started to smoulder an' burst into flames. I have to say this was my first real exposure to some pretty bad language and a fantastic white-knuckle ride across 3 lanes a traffic with Renee staunchin' the flames with 'er handbag.
If I remember correctly the olbas oil subsequently came out for the 3rd degree burns round the weddin' tackle as well, but as we girlies were sent straight to bed for laffin', I can't be sure whether it worked.

Story of incident in car reminds me of the time we were driving up motorway and I leaned forward to tell my Dad, driving in the seat in front of me, that I was feeling a little queasy! Sadly, I was a little late & Dad had to do a quick swerve to the hard shoulder to get out of his chair as quick as possible!!

JG. Poor Eric my foot. Trust me 'e deserved everything 'e got.
This was the man who hated decoratin' to the extent that he hung the kitchen wallpaper upside down and then tried to convince Renee the pattern (trees) was called Babylon, therefore it was obviously the Hangin' Gardens. He was never asked again.
This was the chap who took me out for drivin' lessons round the rugby club on Sunday afternoons, showed me where 1st. gear and reverse was, and announced, "Now, you just drive around the pitches... not ON the pitches, mind... and get used to the gears, I'll just be in the clubhouse..." this went on for 5 weeks till I grassed 'im up to Renee.
Mind, you should see my 3-point turn and corner-flag slalom. Spectacular.
This was the chap who sent me to the corner shop on April-fools' day for a tin of oxtail tongue.
I could go on...
And yous wonder why I couldn't get a man with a loaded gun.

Seza - I really liked Highland lass' idea of the philosopher for a revised thought for the day slot.
I'd love to see that feature continue in the new show and would welcome a new direction for it....more spiritual than Religous maybe.

Heard a vicious rumour that it is Friday?
Crumbs! It is!
The whole week has gone in a bizarre flash of running, driving and sleeping. Which considering my track record of the latter, is quite something. However, the running is taking its toll and I am hobbling around like an old man this morning. How I am going to do a marathon in April beats me...
Couple of hours work at Rudgwick Towers this morning, and then a swift trip up to Reading for a meeting, and then equally swiftly (hopefully) back home for a relaxed weekend of, erm, more running.

I'm kind of up for the Mozza thing myself. I managed to reach about 20 years old without hearing (or indeed, wanting to hear) a Smiths or Moz record, in fact I harboured a deep-rooted hatred for that genre of music at that point - must have been something to do with all that heavy metal I had been listening to. I then decided to get back into education and went to Uni. I commuted from home, and soon got to know a fella who lived nearby and we decided to share the driving. The only problem was he was a foppish lad with a large quiff and a Morrissey obsession. So the week would tend to go something like this;
Monday - The Number Of The Beast
Tuesday - Meat Is Murder
Wednesday - Shout At The Devil
Thursday - Bona Drag
Friday - We agreed a compromise and listened to R4
But, one evening I got home and realised that I had been converted. He had said to me that there was no such thing as a lukewarm Smiths fan, and I had gone from ice-cold to full up boiling without realising it. Over the next few weeks I bought everything they had recorded and lapped it up. I remember when Moz released Vauxhall And I, and I rushed home, closed the curtains and entered his beautiful, poetic world for the rest of the evening and long into the night.
So, the toon? I'm going to stick to the mainstream and plump for Suedehead.

PS We got on like a house on fire (or should that be hairdresser on fire?) from day one despite our 'musical differences'. We did have one area of middle ground, which was REM. Perhaps that should have been the Friday compromise? Or, perhaps it was...

Sunshine if you haven't managed it already, you really should try to grab tickets to see the aforementioned miserya**e Mozzer. Yes, I know he's a tad unreliable to say the least, what with disappearin' after an attack of the hurty hiccups.. hey, I was one of those, years ago, half-way across the Atlantic when he pulled out of one of his Kill Uncle dates in NYC, so apologies to anyone stung in Swindon (ere.. Stung In Swindon..good title), but I can promise you it's worth it if you can get in quick.

I'm sorry - I had read all your comments and I should write something sensitive/ touching/ funny about each one
But I'm tooooooooooo excited and i want to tell you what i did last night so this is all me me me
Last night me and Mr bp went to see live at the apollo being filmed - thanks to the BBC for putting on very good show absolustely free - its why I love the BBC.
I had priority tickets so we got seat right at the front - so far so good - when we went in to sit down we found we were sat with half the cast from Eastenders. Now I don't watch enders so I had to google their names to find out why they were but from the reaction of people around it was quite exciting - because we were sat next to them and smiled at them and they smiled back - like you do with strangers at the theatre.
Then during the intermission me and mr bp were talking about taking a picture of the live at the apollo sign and I wasn't that intrested but david proud (yes him from off the telly) said he would take a picture of me on his phone and email it to me. So someone off the telly has a random picture of me and my email address - thank you david for being such a great bloke and for making my evening that little more surreal

Have only had 5 hours sleep so today might be intresteing - but I'm still smiling.

Well I never did - we are short of one fitting at the job in Aberdeen, so I have just rung a company out of the blue to ask them to supply it as getting anything from Glasgow involves a £140 delivery charge.
Not only did they say that they would make it within the hour - they are letting us have it for nothing as the paperwork involved in invoicing one item is not worth the bother.
Restores your faith a bit when people act like that - so thanks.

On the Smiths 'marmite' thing ........
Always loved them. always. Sadly never seen them or Mozza live though. Loved them so much that when they released Meat Is Murder, I actually managed to be a vegetarian for an entire year (much to my grandads disgust!)
On the other side of the coin, my mum always used to say that Morrissey just made her feel physically ill. Really queasy. His voice, watching him perform on TOTP - she just couldn't stand him and had to leave the room whenever he came on the tellybox weilding his gladioli and hearing aid.
As a teenager I just used to think "awww mother!" and that she was being "old". Then along came the performer known as Ms Winehouse .... and I saw exactly where mummy dearest was coming from.

Ironically, despite my pre-conversion adversity to Mr. Moz, I was already veggie at 18 and still am!
I was lucky enough to catch him solo live in Croydon, probably around the time of 'Boxers' (95?). It was fantastic to see him live, and I remember he peppered the set with Smiths numbers, but I'm afraid the overwhelming memory was someone leaping on to the stage towards the end to grab Moz - wasn't that the norm during the Smiths days? - and he promptly fled, followed by the band, never to return. A rather abrupt and disappointing end to an otherwise great night.

I never did get to see The Smiths - promised myself I would go on the next tour in 1987 and then they split up! James supported them in 1986, my favourite band ever, so I missed that too! Have seen Mozza 3 times though and James about 12 so it kind of made up for it I guess.
With you on The Winehouse Thing too - great voice but the woman's a wreck.

Following all the good thoughts eminating from drivetime this week, I thought I would share this because it definitely worked for me, and we all could probably use more calm in our lives.
Some doctor on television this morning said the way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started.
So I looked around my house to see things I had started and hadn't finished and, before leaving the house this morning, I finished off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of shhhardonay, a bodle of Baileys, a butle of vocka, a pockage of Prunglies, tha mainder of bot Prozic and Valum scriptins, the res of the Chesescke ana box a chocolets. Yu haf no idr who danm gud I fel.
