Is it the karma police at work ? You tell me.

Chris Evans | 08:56 UK time, Wednesday, 30 September 2009

After serious unacknowledged rib injury of DJ from wife, wife is struck down with dodgy chicken sandwich food poisoning.

When I arrived home from work last night, the house was like the Mary Celeste - nobody around - nothing going on. Tash surfaced only to tell me of her woe. After which I ordered her back to bed, made myself a tomato salad, poured myself a glass of wine and turned on the Liverpool game to see them get stuffed by Florence.

This morning with Chicken Sandwich Girl still unavailable for selection, I have for the last hour been experiencing a full on Three Men and A Baby incompetence fest...

Noah seems to be able to do most of this himself though - bless him.

Right, time for the tricky stuff - mashed banana anyone ?

So good luck to all of the above with their offerings, I'm sure they will indeed all fly off the shelves. Hear hear Deev. Yes indeed, Ali, forget the scales, and remember that Fat Clubs can be exactly that on the dark side. Dieting does indeed make you fat, and more importantly, depressed and de-motivated.

I was thinking about that after the doughnut debate last evening. This guilt that we all feel around food is rife and so pernicious.

The fact is that at this present time, we're all surrounded by and tempted by rubbishy processed foods. Even when we think we're eating healthily, we're often not because of hidden chemicals and unnecessary additives in processed food. The doughnuts are the least of the villains; doughnuts don't masquerade as anything else but an indulgence bless 'em. And there's nowt wrong with the odd indulgence.

I wish there were an easy answer to this problem but there isn't, it's such a complex issue. In fact, I think perhaps I'll leave it there before I get too boring or provocative. Just that, as someone who has battled-successfully, but still has to be vigilant-an eating disorder, I'd like to say please let's give each other a break and stop obsessing about our bodies.

Just respect them, and to those of us who have them in 100% working order, be bloody thankful.

When I read your post, I agreed with every single word. But, having known the misery of being overweight, slim, very slim, very fat, etc since I was 16, I think that if like AliB, you can face the creeping up of the weight before it becomes a big problem, then good on ya.

Maybe Chris's production team could help us out with that if we go to them with some ideas.

Maybe this year Chris will work out a way to let us all have a go at the Drive time Dine & Disco. I know there's lots of challenges cos it would turn into a prize draw.

I'm heading off early this morning - going to venture to Wickerman's shop to seev if they do cards for 90 year olds! I have a great aunt who is hitting the BIG Nine Oh next week and am really struggling with a card for her.

BTW - great aunt is NOT the same one as what's coming to Liddypool!!

Had a really early night last night - tucked up in bed by half nine and woke up with Himself's alarm at 5 this morning.

Not done any walking this week - the mornings are so dark now - it''s only just getting light now and I'm usually almost finished walking by this time.

Loving the idea of doing something as a blog for Children In Need, but let's not forget that CLP / Drivetime do the CIN Drivetime Dine & Disco (and the ferrari thing) every year - even tho many of us can't take part in it as it's out of our league, it still raises heaps of dosh.

Maybe the bloggers could volunteer to work for free at the Dine & Disco - I'd be up for that ....... think I'd make a fairly good serving wench!

    ;-)

Before I go, don't forget October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month .... Think Pink, Save Lives.

Beez: no worries - you are a very busy girl! And it looks like you are going to have your hands full today - nothing worse than having a man about the place who's not well!

Chezza, no it's not just you! There is mass hysteria in primary schools a the moment, I had a little boy put his hand up in a lesson yesterday and say "I've just sneezed on my hands" and there was uproar. I suggested he go and wash his hands and someone cried "don't let him touch the door handle!" so I had to send someone with him, in the manner of a leper ringing a bell and shouting "unclean unclean". Yet walk through the dining hall at lunchtime and you will see atrocities against hygiene which would scare a sewer rat!

And little boys' loos - where they go to wash their little hands - are still the "no mans land" they ever were, bless 'em, how ever often they get cleaned.

Anyway, count me in for CiN.
