Hi blog fans a little late today due to the...
... bidding farewell of my old house in Surrey. Today was completion day and time to say ta ta.
No great shakes really as I sold half the estate a few years ago to pay for the big court case I lost. The saddest bit was saying goodbye to Bob and Jackie who have worked for me for the last ten years. Good people who have thankfully and quite rightly found new positions elsewhere.
It was weird driving there today ten years after my first visit..
I remember it so well. It was a Saturday morning and it was pouring down, the rain was coming at you sideways. I was in my silver 550 Maranello which I had just bought. As soon as I saw the place I was in love. It was way out of my price range at that stage in my career but I said to my accountant let's sign up for it anyhow and figure out the money later. He thought I was crazy - he now knows that for sure.
And so today I return for one last look at the old gaff in my new latest car, same make different colour - thinking about all that has happened between then and now - the people that have come and gone - the madness and the mayhem - the highs and the lows.
And then as we approach the drive and I suddenly feel apprehensive, I look over to my son sat next to me in his car seat and he gives me that big gummy smile as if to say everything is gonna be alright and it both makes my day and breaks my heart all at the same time.

Afternoon peeps, Chris I know the feeling oh too well of leaving something that holds so many memories.
We had a large garden with our last house (kept in immaculate condition) and the couple that bought it wanted a 'wildlife garden) They truly got it too, unfortunately it was unruly, untidy and very upsetting evertime we went back to visit friends.
But hey ho time to move on. Now in a brand spanking self built house and loving every minute of it.
PLEASE PLEASE ARF - Crazy Horses (final fling tomorrow for our riding Festival and it's definitely had a few crazy nags bouncing about!!!)
Good side is lost 5 lbs in 10 days, get so worried before I get on I cant eat big portions - should be on throughout the whole year - might get back to be 'dainty'

funny thing, houses - just bricks and mortar but the memories they hold mean we often get attached to them (or not, i guess!).
and kids help you keep things in perspective too - whenever i have a bad day, thinking of the kids makes it seem not so bad and a lot easier to deal with!!

And Spb know what you mean about old houses.. my first house is owned by a friend (she became a friend after she bought it) and it still feels odd going there..altho she has it looking much nicer than i ever did! 2nd house was only 2 doors away so also walk past that quite regularly..and i have to say I had that looking MUCh nicer than it does now! hee hee..
Current house is also only round the corner of 1st two as well.. maybe i need to spread my wings a bit more..altho the garden now needs to last us a lifetime now the amount of work we`ve done on it!
Right...virtual tissues and wine and chocolate on the way to those feeling emotional and down today.. should be landing in bout 5.. any special requests fire away..although i cant fulfil the W*spa Gold order til Sept..

You have moved on with your life, you have your beautiful wife and yummy scrummy son. 10 years ago things were different but would you really swap what you have now to have what you had then.... ummm! I dont think so.
Never look back, it is done and dusted all you have to look at is the future with your beautiful family and the fact that you are now a grown up.
Make a deposit into the memory bank. You dont need to make a withdrawal from the past.

Ever onwards and upwards, I bet you wouldn't swap a thing along the way. As it's all part of life's rich tapestry.
I've only ever lived in two houses, well one house and a flat. The family home until I was 32, bet my parents loved that and now my little flat which was band new when I brought it.

Deev - I had two goats called Lucy and Laura when I was younger and lived at home, and used to take them for walks through the woods on their leads. We also had a large field for them.
Lucy had a daughter called Lottie, and then Lottie had a daughter called Little Lot!
They lived at my Mum's, and Little Lot died last year at the grand old age of 20!

When my 'little ones' were at school, I used to dread sports day, it was always the same mums that used to win, just couldn't wait for their children to change scools to give the rest of us a chance!!
It can be really emotional to leave behind a house that you loved, but life moves on and people change, that house will fade into the distant past as you make new and stronger memories with Tash and Noah.

I had two miniature goats called Henry and Diana, we used to take them on walks across the fields and around the village, the little children used to think that they were reindeers!!!!
They had their own adventure playground in the garden with raised platforms tyre swings and narrow paths on a rockery, we had as much fun watching them as they did at play.

My first blog! I didn't realise how much fun people had on here! Strange end to a strange day.
This weekend sees another chapter in our 2009 musical odyssey, following the stunning double-whammy of Chickenfoot and The Killers a couple of weeks ago.
This is the one where we take my mother to see her hero, Leonard Cohen.
Or, 'Chuckles', as he is known to his friends.
A bit different to a beat combo made up of bits of Van Halen and the Chilis, or, indeed, an electro-rock 80s synth obsessed outfit from Las Vegas, I'm sure you'll agree, but still part of the rich tapestry that is popular music.
Might need a beer or two to get through it though.
I doubt if 'Suzanne' would be the explosive start that Chris would want to kick off ARF, so here goes;

There, that should do nicely.
The twin-turbo has gone to a new home, so I should be collecting the new wheels tomorrow. Same again, please barman.

Chris, I've moved a few times and I've found leaving the old house hard (apart from one I couldn't wait to get out of but that's a long story!) I always end up wondering what the new people will do to it, how they will arrange furniture and if they'll paint different colours! IS that weird?!

Happen to be on topic! I'm guessing CLP's experience of moving out isn't/wasn't quite the same as ours!! I'm hoping/believing this time (leaving rented house) isn't going to be as traumatic (and believe me it was!) as leaving our last house (we'd been there 27 years - imagine the stuff we had!!!)

I'm watching This Week on Beeb 1 and I have a theory. They MUST have a great big dinner with several bottles of wine before they go on air. Andrew always starts off a bit slurry, Diane's a bit skittish and slightly loose-tongued and poor old Michael looks really uncomfortable and like he could do with a Rennie.

Never did Mtf, which sounds like it may have been a good thing.
Just waiting for the ludicrous Amy Lame to make her appearance, used to listen to her with Danny Baker...awful woman.
She used to complain that McDonalds shouldn't class themselves as a restaurant, because you had to clear away your own rubbish.....!!!
Also went on Fat club to 'to get fit' acted up and had a tantrum when they suggested she was there to lose weight. "No I'm happy with my size, I just want to get fit" then played to the camera and could not get enough of the attention when they commented on how much weight she'd lost and how pleased she was to fit into smaller dresses.

Aw Christoff that's so sweeet. Brought a lump to me troat.
But, see. Gorgeous ickle Noah has broken the spell, I don't reckon you'll be sad any more.
I once rented a lovely house for a year which I absolutely loved; a little old converted schoolhouse. But it was during a bad time for me on lots of levels. Whilst appearing happy, you know, partying, enjoying myself, etc., I was deeply unhappy and lots of things went wrong on a personal level during that time. I was my own worst enemy, really; the more unhappy I was, the more I reinforced the carefree veneer on the outside.
Anyway, lots of water has passed beneath that bridge since then; and recently I was passing said ickle house and it was up for sale. All the sad memories of my state of mind came flooding back, and as she often does, the GD chose that moment to call.
"Ah, fab, mum," says she, "How much is it up for?"
"What.. you think I should look at it? But it would be a backward move, I think, sweetie. I wasn't happy there."
"Hmm. Well, you're right, then, if that's how you feel. But I don't remember it that way. Don't you remember we used to sleep downstairs on the sofa bed eating cheese on toast and watching videos? And what about the Beano Party? Where everybody dressed up as characters from the Beano and you did Desperate Dan food? And where we had that funny neighbour who thought you were a strippogram and that we were a Couple?"
Ah yes the neighbour. Seems he didn't quite understand why I would leave the house for a night out wearin' a head full of velcro rollers and with me dress in a bag. (I did have the jacket on, by the way. Just didn't want to crease the dress.) And then one day I got into conversation with him when he alluded to something he'd told my 'Friend.'
"My friend?" I asked, puzzled.
"Yes, you know, your-er-friend, you know, who lives with you."
"That's not my friend, it's my daughter!!" I exclaimed, horrified but then immediately delighted; and rushed in to tell said daughter of this marvellous misconception.
Oh how we larfed.. well, after the GD had recovered from her attack of biliousness anyway; actually we have always behaved like a little old married couple, bickering and sparring, and kissin' each other to within an inch of life. So it was undertandable.
But the sad spell was broken. Good aul Noah, I reckon he's just done the same for you, Christoff. And will do so forever.
What time is it. Ah NO me hair's gone fluffy. Am off.

I have found that through all the difficulties that I have had with both of my (seperated) parents, and all of the issues that they have (very many) it always comes full circle and they are always there....whatever!
Failing that....and I don't wish to make light of it....but, there is always Guitar Hero.

I remember hearing Bill Withers, Lovely Day playing on the radio as we drove home from hospital with our new baby to our new house and it just summed up everything! I have been absent for a few days (not recovering from my triathlon although I needed the rest) but I have been involved in an inquest. Still it is all over now, well for me anyway, for the family it will rumble on for a long time yet!
SuperBp, I am sorry to hear about your falling out with your Mum. All I can say is that life is far too short to be unhappy with those we should love and care for and even though sorry can be the hardest word (even if the cause is not your fault) it has to be worth trying to say it out loud. ;-)) Look back at the blog from CLP a few weeks ago where this subject was brought up as I am sure there will be some very good advice still lurking about on the blog. ;-) {{Hug}} and x-x-x just coz I can!
Deevs, I have been having problems at home with my BT home hub! Frustrating or what! ;-(( I am sure normal service will be resumed as soon as possible! Grrr

Tins - it's from that well known High Street Bakers (the one advertised by Paddy and his dog).

Everytime I get ready to post a blog - it has moved on! I'm not quick enough and this blinkin' work stuff keeps getting in the way.

A couple of nights we had the ELH man come to our house - only we hadn't ordered anything - had to point him in correct direction
Bought a cupcake stand (how exciting) from a popular auction webiste - it was new - we put it together last night but left covering on - and i snapped it - then read destructions which says do not contruct with plastic on - opps! Also found out they did one in balck - gutted we didn't get that now!

Have a wonderful time watching and commentating on the Golf. I worked for two years at the Volvo Masters in Valderama for the TV. My job was to talk to the producer and tell them what shot the golfer was playing. Quite difficult as you hear all of the chat in your ear (something you are use to I guess) and then all of a sudden it was my name so you had to be on your toes as to get it wrong was going to be poor for the viewer. It did mean that I was able to walk inside the ropes and get real close to the players. My reward was I got to play the course twice for free! For both years I caddied for the Pro-Am first year my pro was Thomas Bjorn and the second year Wayne Riley. I must say that some of the golfers were right grumpy gits! Like spb, it wasn't at the same time as Greg. But he is a business partner of one of my best friends sisters (tenious link there!) and it was in Colorado. Very weird to see pictures of him on the fridge with the kids etc.

Well good afternoon all!
Yep I'm back and not planning on going on any more ROADTRIPs for a while :-)
After the Royal Highland I had a week to recover before doing a major tour of the country to pick up about 1300 day old ducklings from Norfolk. We went down 3/4 the way on Monday, across to Norwich on Tuesday (M6 mayhem & rain! included) then a 9 1/2 hour drive back to Aberdeenshire on Wednesday with aforementioned fluffies in the back of the truck peeping all the way :-}

Just popped on to say "have a fab time at the meet everyone", I am so jealous and wish I could be there but unfortunately finances wouldn't stretch far enough. Never mind, there will be other times.

Ohh! Busy period there!
Next week I promise to give the foal name update - 3 to go.
Can't remember if I mentioned that one of our foals this year was born with Wry Nose - a condition where the upper nose is bent due to the way she was lying in the womb. She has been to the Dick Vets (Edinburgh Uni Vet school for large animals) and following digital x rays being beamed around the world - the result is that when she is 6 months old she will have the operation to try and straighten it out - affectionately named Squinty nose her official name is Ooni.
