Back to work for just the one day and already...
... the mad dreams have come back.
Last night I dreamt I was playing golf with Tiger Woods and John Daly. We were all square going on to the eighteenth - Tiger hadn't said a word to either of us whereas John could not have been nicer.
The two of them had teed off and now it was my turn - all I had to do was get it on the fairway, something I had been doing for the whole of the rest of the round but every time I stepped up to take my shot - my head fell off.
As this kept happening John was finding it harder and harder to hold in the laughter, whereas Tiger was becoming increasingly impatient. I decided to try one more time but once again as I addressed the ball...for no reason at all my head fell off.
Even John had had enough by now and called Tiger to play on without me. All I remember is the crowd all walking by my head and my two golfing heroes striding off to complete the round without me.
I looked to my body for some support but it just held its hands out as if to ask what the hell was I playing at - then I woke up.
Who needs sleep like that ?
Have a nice day.

I'm kinda wondering ...... did you have a secret yearning to be Worzel Gummidge in your yoof? Many heads to suit whichever mood?!?!?
I too had a weird dream last night, that kept me awake from about 4am. In the real world, I'm having dinner tomorrow night with a very good friend at a local pub. In my dream, she kept telling me off, lecturing me, getting all righteous over me and saying I'm a bad bad girl.
What's THAT all about?!?!?

First off, let me send big hugs to {{{{{{{Hazel}}}}}}}} for being poorly. My herbal medicine bible says that you should eat lots of oatmeal, muesli and yoghurt, and take l-lysine, 500mg twice daily. You can also dab on diluted tea tree oil. anyway, hope you're on the mend sweetheart.

I too had a bizarre dream in which I made peace with my dad (who's been dead for nearly 30 years) - strange but good.

CLP - fantastic to have you back. And your dream story today just made me laugh so much! A very visual pic in my head now of your head lying on the tee, and all around life carried on as normal! Is this what it means...you have lost your head while all around you carry on as normal?!
Anyway, hello to all and I've missed you. Good to see the regs are still here and some newbies too.

I can't interpret dreams, but I do believe that dream of yours was your subconscious "catching up" with the fantastic experience you had at the Open this year. Can't explain why your head would fall off though - wonder if Baggy had a point with her post #9?
And, Baggy, hope things are ok for you - not as bad as it seems.
TipTopWestie: 8 hours sleep - you lucky thing, you! I managed 4 hours last night and that was something of a miracle. Woke up at 2.30am and then spent the next four hours worrying about everything - even stuff that is nothing to do with me!

Beany - Glad you asked, I was wondering that as well. Is it good for Bingo wings Scoobs?
Darce xx
Complain about this comment
Beany..i have never been a `games` person but we bought a Wii 2 weeks ago and its a fab piece of kit. You can get keep fit packages, games (like scrabble etc), sports stuff, music and loads of other things..the list really is endless.
I was a bit sceptical at first but the sports one has won me over. The golf etc seems a bit faffy at first but once you get into it, trying to hit the ball straight, beat your score etc is strangely addictive..well in Scoobs world anyway! Think it also helps that i seem to beat my GM on most things weve played so far!
So, if you want a bit of fun it can be that..but i also know people who have lost weight by doing the `fit` thing on it. Seems to be a good alround machine imho.
Dont know if that helps but thats my thoughts..!

I am very competitive....apparently ;-) so it sounds like the sort of thing I could get hooked on, although as a (once) sporty type, its hard to think that you can beat the real thing. But I guess you have the option of trying a variety of different things without having to buy the kit, pay the subs, etc, etc. I will investigate further! Does the loser buy the next round though???

I would say that your dream is a manifistation of your inner turmoil regarding who you are and where you want to be.
Golf is a great love of your life and so provides the background. The two other players are metaphors for the two extremes in your life.
John Daley the big hitting, hard drinkinking, womanisinng gambler is the old you who used to hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Tiger Woods the sensible quiet and dignified athlete is the new you, settled, married and with a new baby.
However somewhere inside you are still torn between the two, you want to be Tiger Woods, but there is still still a bit of John Daley inside somewhere who is dying to get out, thus your head falls of in frustration.

Here's a topic for the day 'til the big cheese posts if you want to play?
What would be the opening or closing (or both) line should you ever write your autobiography?
My closing line would be something like "...and I'd do it all again"

Mornin' Ginge.
I know exactly what my opening line will be. It will be the words uttered by my old Aunty Lily when the Dear Departed Father Eric announced that Renee had given birth to another girl.
"Oh well. Never mind."
..and thus heralded my dramatic entrance upon this mortal stage."
As to the closing words. Ah well, see. That's up to the GD, as I intend to snuff it in the saddle. Hurrah!
I wonder if CLP's head is still intact this morning. Actually, before I was so rudely cut off in me prime, chiz, what I was saying was that when confronted by something astonishing or startling, I always say, "Me head has just fallen off." Or indeed, often on the other end of the phone to the GD rabbittin' on at me, it's "Listen, sweetie, got to go. Me head's fell off now."
I was obviously Anne Boleyn in a previous incarnation. Ey, did you know she had six fingers? Oh yes. No head, like; but 6 fingers. Well you can't have everything.

Right then...its taken me since my last post, some 40 mins or so to do it, but I've done it.
I've been on a search and rescue mission.
The search is complete.I've found him, now the rescue must be put in place.
Who am I referring to??
Bingo of course.
When I was struck down last week by some dastardardly curly tailed creature,I seem to remember I forlorn sounding Bingo sounding in a lotta pain.
Anyway with some research and a lot of patience..as it is still very slow if you go back there,I located him. 23rd july post 1736 AND he didnt get to fill in his 1737..that is worrying!
So, now comes the rescue. How do we go about this???
Has anyone heard a peep from him since?
Bingo, I hope you are ok and on the mend from whatever was wrong,I note you gave reference to "root" ! So is tooth pain you have endured..never good at any time, but abroad..nightmare.
Will look foward to seeing you back on here soon I hope.

Baggy, that's just reminded me of my dearly missed Aunty Dot. The one who told me if I told Big Fat Fibs I'd get a big spike growin' outa me head. And is therefore responsible for my typin' as we speak with one hand, the other clasped firmly to me head.
It was, in fact, her proud boast that she met me before Renee did, there at my birth one cold January night in Liverpool. Her opening words as I roared me head off (there I go again) and wellied the cot cover into orbit, were, "I tell you what, Rene. We've got a right one here."
Bless.

Morning,
A bit damp here in Kent this morning! Grrrr and I hear that our BBQ summer is not to be, just more rain. What I used to love about Great Britain was the seasons, seems we don't get them anymore. A big hello to our Somerset friends as I hear is ****ing down with rain there xxx
My opening line "They took her away, never to be seen again..."
My closing line "....is that it?"
The boss is coming in today to give me lots of work to do while he swans off to Australia for four weeks! Humph that doesn't seem fair to me.

I work as a professional dream psychologist (just google Ian Wallace Dreams). Here's my view on what's happening for Chris...
In considering the dream, the easiest conclusion to make is that Chris keeps losing his head. However, there is quite a bit more going on in the dream if we take a closer look.
When we dream of being with two people, it often represents two different sides of our personality and usually there is some sort of tension between these two aspects of our self. This tension is often triggered by some decision we need to make.
In this dream Tiger Woods symbolises the driving, professional, impatient side of Chris and John Daly represents his more casual, happy go lucky, cheerful self.
Chris is probably currently involved in some sort of project or negotiation that is nearing completion as symbolised by being at the the eighteenth hole, apparently with everything is all squared away in the discussions. In the dream, all Chris has to do is get it on to the fairway, and in his negotiations or project, he has also been looking for the fairest way forward for everyone.
However, every time he tries to finalise his negotiations or complete his project, he loses his head. Even though he is trying to behave fairly, he is becoming impatient and angry about something.
Eventually, both the cool professional part of his personality and his fun loving alter ego decide to abandon this volatile hot head. Although this may seem the rational course of action in the circumstances, a lot of his drive and genius is generated by this crazy head, so Chris should look at ways of channelling this brilliant energy without losing his head.
Chris knows that he has a cool, calculating professional side to his personality. He is also intimately familiar with his funnny, happy and boyish side. To reconnect his head, he needs to accept that sometimes he gets angry, raging and really annoyed in certain circumstances. As he accepts this anger, it becomes a positive force rather than something that makes him lose his head.

Ian. Interesting stuff.
However. Since I tend to see dreams as the brain's re-booting, processing through our daily (and life-time) thoughts, I'd say that Christoff has all the above well under control. It seems significant to me that since we all dream, even the dream detractors who claim they never do, it's the ones we remember and our reactions to them that we need to take note of.
Like my recurring dream, and the horror of my reaction, namely being stark naked in public. It's not a horror of nudity so much as of being 'outed'. Despite my blathering on endlessly here, I'm actually almost paranoid in protecting my privacy and in defending the right of others to theirs. My recent cautious venture onto faceache has brought this up; despite the lovely messages I've had, particularly from all the lovely bloggers, I'm so apprehensive and nervous about it that I may not stick around for long.
Not that I've anything much to hide, am quite boring, actually. But we all have our foibles and our dragons to slay don't we.
And so tonight I'm takin' no chances and climbin' into the scratcher in me divin' suit and flak-jacket.

Ian Wallace: I found that fascinating. Had a quick look at your website - will read it further at lunchtime! Your interpretation of Chris's dream is slightly different from my own .... guess I will have to just stick to typing and answering telephones!

By the way. Does anyone else have that flying dream? The one where you can glide effortlessly up, up and away, soaring over the clouds, marvellous. I LOVE that one, you wake up euphoric.
It seems to matter not that you wake up in the scratcher in Wigan with your curlers in and the smell of warm creosote waftin' upstairs from Renee makin' bacon butties without the glasses on.

Hi Clodagh
The Naked In Public dream and the Flying dream are consistently in the top five dreams that people share with me.
As you say, the Naked In Public dream is not really about being naked; it's about appearing vulnerable. And the thing that we are often most vulnerable to is the feeling of being judged by others. So instead of letting our talents shine out, we hide them away in case anyone might criticise them.
This anxiety about being judged by others reflects a deeper concern about harshly we tend to criticise ourselves. The more self critical we are, the less confident we appear to be and that can make us feel really vulnerable.
So the more we truly recognise our own talents and the qualities that make us unique, the more confident we become and the less vulnerable we feel. As you acknowledge your uniqueness, you will tend to be less self critical, and this Naked In Public dream will start to fade away.
The Flying dream shows what happens as you criticise yourself less; all your doubts and anxieties fade away below you and a big new sky of possibilities opens up ahead of you.
