Gee-gees, eh what ?
Had a fabulous time at Royal Ascot. To see the main grandstand full with eighty thousand people roaring on the various equine beauties was truly a sight to behold.
And all the girls in their glad rags for the most part looking wonderful but as the afternoon wore on desperately attempting to judge when does class and high spirits turn into booziness and boorishness.
We had tickets for The Royal Enclosure - a prospect that for a time had us mightily excited until we were made aware that The Royal Enclosure fits about twenty thousand in it !Still fantastic though.
We left just after the last but one race and were in our fave pub five minutes later. Nowadays things have to be pretty special for us to stay to the end.
For the record here's our attempts at looking "racey".
Tash added the flowers to her hat herself by the way.
Fathers' day was a bit of a blast as well. Two brill pressies from two brill kids.

A lovely weekend that was all in all far too short as indeed most of them are but hey that's why we love them so much and I'm already looking forward to the next one.

Ahh CLP, you both look absolutely divine! I've only ever been to the gee-gees once (Newmarket) but it was a blast. The feel of the turf pounding beneath your feet as they thunder down the home straight ..... great!
Also love going greyhound racing. Shame The 'Stow has closed, but we've still got Romford up the road.
My weekend was cultural and packed. And yes, looking forward to the next one as there's nothing on the calendar and I'll probably be climbing the walls of sleep depravation by Friday!

Beez - Nothing naughty about my lack of sleep I'm afraid. It's a combination of not sleeping well, jet lag and a night out with the Street Pastors on Friday. Got to bed at 4:30 Saturday morning, only to be woken by my neighbour waxing his car with some noisy machine at 8:30!!

Tash, of course looks GORgeous and am now in a MAD JEALOUS RAGE on top of me trauma from bein' accosted by an 86-year-old with a sheep on her head.
Well now tell you what Tash. Yous'll have your work cut out to outdo me at The Curragh next week. Oh yes. This is fightin' talk. I've me best hat outa mothballs and if I don't win the Best Dressed Lady I'm goin' in for the Best Hat, Best Couple, Best Man and if necessary Best Horse. I'm goin' for that 5,000 euro prize to spend in Brown Thomas if I die in the attempt.
I might finally stick a picture on Faceache if the GD doesn't censor me; if she does I'll stick the photo of Renee in the sheep tea-cosy on instead. I took a nice close-up one as I'm in need of a new dartboard.

I was at Royal Ascot 4 years ago with corp. guests - not really the same atmos. if you're in a marquee - but walking about among the great, the good and the gorgeous was truly a sight to behold!!
Anyways, looks like the sun has come to visit this week again over these shores - hope she'll make it to the end of the week , a welcome guest as always...

Aw and look at Noah's Hollywood-style effigies.
Puts me in mind of the ex-hubby, whose ickle footprints follow right through the concrete floor of the barn down on the farm where he grew up, when he pitter-pattered through said concrete before it had set. Sweet.
Mind you, some years later he'd have happily added mine to them. Difference is, the feet woulda still been in 'em.

Lovely gifts from your children - to be treasured, that's for sure.
MsS, who is currently in Majorca, telephoned yesterday to wish her dad a happy day. She told him a story about the night out they had on Saturday, and I have never seen him laugh so much! She had him in stiches, over a very simple wee story, but wonderful to see the bond and relationship they have. It has been incredible since Day One!

Baz: you just have to hang in there. 14 is a b*gger of an age. I have said here before, when MsS was about 14, she went to sleep one night the sweetest of girls. She woke up the next morning and had turned into a monster! Door slamming, crying, being completely unreasonable. This went on for at least 18 months (sorry!) All I can say is, the tide will turn, and she'll be back to "normal" again. Meanwhile, keep a wee bottle of something refreshing at your side at all times!

Loved Father's Day, worked Sat night but didn't mind one bit when I was attacked by the 3 amigos with cards and pressies in the morning. Hand made ones, bought ones, all good.
Then spent most of the day at my folks house, we got my old man front row tickets to see Quadrophenia the musical which he loved. Also I had him a card made with his fave pic of the 2 of us on it taken 38 years ago!
I did though spend 5 minutes thinking of all the people who are unable to celebrate this day for whatever reason. Love and kisses if that's you x

Baz: I must confess that I did rather lose it with my daughter one day and told her that I was utterly bored to tears, genuinely bored with her behaviour and that I just wouldn't react any more. Very difficult to do, but I stuck with it and things did improve bit by bit. I think part of the problem is peer pressure - it is absolutely enormous - that, coupled with the hormones, aarrgghh!

Thanks both of you. Me and my DS are moving in with Mr PiP at the end of next month. Very, very excited, but so much to do as still trying to sell my property (agent is rubbish), pack up current home (which I'm renting but haven't yet given notice on and landlord is coming around tonight and I'm a chicken and wanted to to tell him by letter! lol) and get Mr PiP's house ready for us moving in.

I have had a thought today - how abusive is abusive?? Had to deal with someone who either lost the plot, missed the boat or was just plain stupid. After listening to him, I chose the last option and kicked him out of the office. He appeared quite relieved. Never a dull moment when people and relationships are involved.
Home to a rest and probably a snooze before supper.

Leaving work next Tuesday then moving out of house in England (rented) 17th July. Not sure at the moment when we're actually leaving England - possibly live in caravan for a few days before making the move, but should be there by end July.
We're over in the Charente - just outside Angouleme. Mr P flew out Saturday and came back yesterday with a car that we need to dispose of. While I was sat under the grey skies of Essex he told me it was gawjus out there!
Really looking forward to it and fairly daunted at the prospect of dealing with officialdom but I'm sure we'll get there

Chris you both do look very Racey indeed! My father (bless him) was into the horses; maybe that is why I have never had any real interest. I have been to a couple of horse racing meetings over the years but always walked away a little disappointed. Still, each to their own and saying that does not mean that I would not go again if I had the chance of a day off work. ;-))

Hhi Puff - know that part of the world fairly well - in fact it is a part of France I would love to retire to when the time comes!
I have a dear friend who lives in Aigre and I love her little town - I was there a couple of Christmas's ago and loved it that the shops were all open selling gawjus food and the oyster seller was in the town square on Christmas morning!

It's nice to know it's not just me...........they cost as much I would pay for mine. Why, they're tiny!!
In fact they did, as I also bought a pair of very comfy, sensible but v pretty shoes for work, as I realised I hadn't had a new pair since the before the boy was born!

PS: oldest little boy (9) had S.E.X. education at school the other day and was told off for laughing!!!!! That's how he described it - S. E. X.!! He's 9 for gawds sake!! But it was very funny listening to the discussion between him and his Dad.

Well 3 very late nights are now catching up with me. Went ound ELH after work in an ethereal dream-like state. I'm assuming it's tiredness, although it may still be my Blurry mindset from last night.

Hurrah Rips. that'll be the River Lee beside which I've no doubt yous'll be turnin' up later, tarred and feathered and singin' 3 verses of Molly Malone and tryin' to get your trollies off over your head.
And as attractive as your z-bed with access to mini-bar sounds, I'm somewhat stymied by Renee and her appointments with Doctor Killmore. Not that there's owt wrong with her, apart from an irrational urge to put a large tea-cosy on her head and goose me in me own bedroom, she just has to have her tappits checked and practice flirtin' with the Lovely Boy that is the septogenarian medic. But best she's accompanied, or else she'll be tryin' to tell us she's got advanced swamp fever or corrosion of the dipstick.
Anyway have a blast my little puff adder, and if you're thinkin' of kissing the Blarney Stone, take the Vaseline. You don't want herpes. And take a more reliable friend than I did in the GBF Damian to hold on to your feet as you dangle upside down poutin' like Daffy Duck in the attempt. Said eejit claimed to have a sudden sneezin' fit, let go of me flip-flops and I was nearly Missin' In Action. What a sad demise that woulda been, drowned in mud beneath Blarney Castle. Mind you it beats bein' run over by a runaway donkey like my old Aunty Fanny.

I'm doing ok now thanks. Think that I'm coming to the end of group therapy, which is handy now seeing as I need to put more hours in at work.
Not too many more but given my recent promotion I want to ease myself back into proper work mode.
This blooming hayfever today is just not funny. Been sat here rubbing my eyes so am sure to look a total fright when I catch a glimpse in the mirror.

Hi all,- got to be up bright and breezy at 5AM - numero uno son is back from France as they have manged to get an earlier ferry - how VERY inconvenient. Just means I have to collect 3 hrs ahead of sched - am I going to be narky 2moro or what.
Am chuffed to bits that he will be back with us - 10 days is a LONG LONG time away from the boosom of our family, but he has had a blast. His French exchange student has had a swimming pool and all his pals are miffed big style!!!

Yous could always come to The Curragh in the heels with my party of eejits but don't be whingein' and doin' a Dick Emery in the paddock. It's polo where they do the divots.
Mind you I did hear CLP sayin' he'd never seen so many barefoot women as he did at AscOt. Well now at Galway races they give out flip-flops at the exit to all the ladies as they stumble outa there, happily tired, skint and emotional, battered hats on at a jaunty, Captain Mainwaring angle and with feet that look like they're bubble-wrapped. Last year the weather was a bit miserable on Ladies' Day, and as the GD and myself hobbled out I was handed a pair of attractive pink ones about the size of surf boards, which the daughter declined on the grounds of good taste, but I put them on and promptly flapped all the way back into Galway, splatterin' everybody within a half-mile radius and arriving at the dinner table completely pebbledashed all up me back but blister-free.
You have been warned. And don't forget the hat-pins and the mace spray. It's a dangerous business, that Best Dressed Lady compo.

We walked into a bar on Academy street tonight, for the reason that it looked quiet.

Never been a fan of motor racing, horse racing or golf. I suppose that rugby is my thing.
Madi - Are you alright?? Who are these horrible people?? You need to get a more positive slant on life.
I have been there and gone through all that you are and have come out a happy and more attentive person and family man.

It is never as bad as one thinks. The big downer I found was alcohol, even moderate amounts, which turned me into an unpleasant person. Given that up as well. Much better for it.
Anyway, start the day in a positive frame of mind and you will feel better!!!!!!!!

Thanks Debs,MaW and Madi for your good wishes. It is certainly up there in the list of No1 priorities to get phone and ADSL(as they call t'inernetty thing) connected. Last time I was over a very nice lady in French Telecom said it would take @1 week for phone and 2 weeks for ADSL once they have sent an engineer out to check we have a line already laid in (which we do - just can't prove it on their system!)
Anyway - onwards and upwards have some work to do ,will check in later

ankle-biters are already in the garden, sun is high wide and handsome, lovely day ahead?
Had a health kick yesterday, done some km's on my rowing machine then for a run around the village before working a late shift.
Same today methinks too!
Had to laugh to myself when MrsW asked me if my trainers were 'brand new' on my return....
...they're at least 2 years old, just used sparingly I guess!!!
I've got a 10k run in Sept for Cancer Research so need to get in gear.

Clodagh: as soon as I saw Bingo's post re: Danny Baker, I thought of you - I seem to remember I was on a wee bit of a mission last year, to get you hooked up with him! Anything can happen, you know. I also absolutely agree with you on Ray Winstone and the hilarious Boris Johnson! How any woman managed to have an affair with Boris, I have no idea. I would just spend my whole time laughing with him!
And it (almost) goes without saying that Rips is a babe!
Rips: great to read your post from last night! I cannot stand Roy Keane - his arrogance makes me seethe!
Phone call last night from MsS. She tells me she's fed up drinking Malibu, and has switched her drink to "sex on the beach" cocktails! When I conveyed this to my lovely husband, he almost swallowed his wine glass! (we always have two glasses of wine while watching House. As you do.)

Had an early start in here this monrning so I can hopefully leave earlier and avoid the TT traffic later.
Hoping to open up the windows and listen to the sound-checking later. When Bruce played there, his sound-checks sounded like they were in the next room!
It's still cloudy here, but white cloud not grey, I suppose that's something to be grateful for, it's been so dreary up here for what feels like weeks now!

Mind you. The delicious Danny is well and truly spoken for and yous don't get me within bargepole-strikin' distance of the married men. Oh no. Even in jest. I used to think it was perfectly fine to flirt with the hubby of a mate so long as it was all in jest; you know, no hidden agenda, just nonsense, all that; but I suddenly grew up when it back-fired on me some years ago and I've been beating myself up over it ever since. I was unbelievably stupid and blind.
But not now.
Mind you I'm not averse to takin' a contract out on the missuses of all of the aforementioned; how are you fixed? I'd do it meself but the aim isn't what it usedta be and they'd only end up with the sympathy vote because I'd shot their best hat off.
