Oh What A Nightie Night.
Thank goodness I was...
... hosting the awards last night.
It's the perfect way to make sure you don't overdo it on the alcohol front. I had my first beer at 11.35 ! Now - as for the rest of the team... well let's just say I have had a very "interesting" chat with the producer. It seems the most creative thing that's happened in the office this morning is that Crackpot Craig has been sent out on a bacon sandwich run.
But what a team. The best, simply the best. As far is I am concerned they can have the day rest of the day off, they deserve it.
Two out of two for Drivetime and that of course includes - YOU.
I can't tell you how much your reaction is the wick that keeps our candle burning so brightly. We immediately know when something is flying or not from the tone, speed and energy of your feedback and as you pick up whatever it is we throw out there and take it forward - the next chapters often write themselves. There's no doubt we plant the seed but it is you who provide the sun and the rain.
I was in my dressing room just before the awards last night wondering if I would remember my opening few lines - when something inside told me take a time out to pause for a moment, realise how lucky I was and to say thank you.
"Four years ago I was going nowhere fast and now here I am with a beautiful wife an amazing son, I'm back in touch with my daughter, I have a job that I love - working with people whom I consider real friends, I'm about to host the industry's biggest night of the year and we are up for two awards into the bargain. It simply does not get any better. Thank you God."
And then we win !
So what next ?
Your guess is as good as mine - oh hang on I've just been told.
It's nappy time - mummy needs to go shopping and Noah has just presided over a minor explosion in the poop department.

I never used to listen to Radio 2 much until your show and now I listen every day on my way home and sometimes even when I get in. You have changed my ways from the other channel!! It is also lovely that you are a happy family man these days as my liitle man is 20 months old and it brings back all the lovely memories from last year when you talk about Noah. Maybe in another 20 years when I am an old fart you we can swicth over to radio 4 together ;-)

Also sad to hear about The Mulberry fire. We went there when little man was 2 weeks old for our first wedding anniversary lunch. Was lovely and we often stop by now with him to play in the garden whilst we have a beer. Nice part of the world - why did you leave??!!

At our wedding reception I had to nip home to get some rock and BritPop toons as the disco (booked by my lovely late dad, who thought he was doing us a fave) was absolutely pants with a capital P!
I can still see the neighbours faces. Me in full wedding dress regalia hopping out of sis-in-laws fiesta, running in the house and emerging minutes later with a bag full of CDs!

Its funny how things turn round . . . 12 months ago I was still in a 20-month mire - drinking too much, no relationship, full of self-pity, overweight, unattractive and miserable where I was living. . . I can now confirm that I am at the right complete opposite of the scale in every aspect

Not having a good day as fell down very heavily on my left hand in the work car park and got taken to a walk-in centre by security. Luckily my hand is not broken but all shook up so got sent home. Not all bad as i can read the blog during the day for a change!

SuperBP, I went to a wedding once where there was a band playing cover versions. They started off with Riders on the Storm!! It was the coolest wedding reception ever!!

I too now have my life on track after a good too many years and it's abfab to say the very least. It's so very important to take time out now and again from our very busy lives to reflect how lucky we are.
Anyhow, very windy outside here in sunny, hot Norfamps (the car rickter thingy says 18 degrees - what's that about?). Not a good day for having your hair done, but brill for the washing (which is still in machine btw GD!).
Back in a bit, just need to catch up on last night.

I've just landed in a gloriously sunny Belfast from an equally glorious Dublin, took a bit of a detour through the Mourne Mountains so all is well in my world, to hear the news that yous is the Top Man On The Planet.

Evening lovely people
Just thought that I would let you know that I did go to work this morning and it was fine. I did stop outside work just down the road for a bit while I sorted my head out, was a bit nervous.
My boss was brilliant, my uniform is huge on me now and I didn't have to face many people. So back in tomorrow morning.
I just about made it it to my group in time at the hospital and I achieved something quite good there too. Something that I have been avoiding for ages.
So not too bad a day. Thanks for nice messages of support here and on fb.
Rips, Foxy? Me? So funny, my first boyfriend used to call me foxy lady for some reason. He used to play that Jimi Hendrix song to me. Two years later he dumped me lol!

I took all me girlies along from where I live,
the boss insisted that I used the 'S' type and
we got there at 6 in the morning.
I have never had such a brill day and no,I
didn't even go in.
We left later on in the day taking the opposite
directional recommendations and hit the empty M5 south.
And I was so glad that I had them all with me.
Mine were only 15 and 16 so,if yours are older,then you wont have the concerns that i did.
BUT,if you can go with them you too can have a good day out too,free and able to come back when you please.
The shops in Weston are a treat during T4
as they are all empty.

My best friend at work, with 11 years service was made redundant today, even though he was better qualified and experienced than some of the others!
What makes it worse, was that he's just lost his Mum, and the funeral was last Friday! So he was at an emotional disadvantage to start with...
I am so disillusioned with everything, and particularly where I work, but am watching last w/ends NASCAR, and those on fb who want a laugh, look at the video Mr JG has just put on my page! It has really cheered us both up!

Leicester (Lyndyloo's team) finished the Guinness premiership top....London Irish (my team) finished third.
The RFU now have the top four team play each other to reach a final (Leicester v London Irish) to decide who wins the premiership.
I have profoundly disagreed with this since it's inception.
This is the first year we have reached the final, and I in my pompous way refuse to recognise it or attend the final...that'll learn 'em!
Anyway, I have been offered tickets and thought Lyndy might go as if Leicester win they really deserve to celebrate.
Whatever happens, in my mind Leicester are the Guinness premiership champions, we came third.

I listened to the audiobook version of Richard Hammonds book - the edge of reason written and read by both him and his wife.........
Good grief.....Don't tell anyone but I struggled with it....especially when she recounts the moment she got the phone call and the telling of when their daughters first saw him after the accident.
I haven't cried that much since Mama Mia.....I am such a wuss, since we had kids!
Really recommend it.....I drove the back roads from Corby to Aylesbury so I could listen to it all.

MTF - bloggers meet - as I have said before - the first one I organised and went to no one admitted to showing - but didn't put me off and now we (me and Mr bp) go when we can - they are good fun - and i saw a car reg plate yesterday of MTF and thought of you!

With the very recent exception of an evening on the Becks Vier, I can't do lager. Too gassy and makes you wee a lot. Ugh! No, a nice pint of real ale, proper cider (again not that commercial neon yuk you get in supermarkets - gimme a pint of Westons Old Rosie any day!) or a good pint of the Black Stuff from the Liffey and I'm generally a happy bunny!

Glad the sickness seems to be on the way out. If it returns tho, my best mate relied on arrow-root biccies, ice cold water and she also used those accupressure wrist bands (meant for travel sickness) for the duration of her pregnancy. The only time she stopped chundering was when my God Daughter popped out after 9 months!

Afraid the day didn't get much better, and I was hit by a lorry on the motorway on the way home. Minor damage to the lovely brum brum, which hopefully will be fixed shortly. Luckily, I'm fine. To borrow Beez's metaphor, there'll be another wave along shortly.

I get back 3 - 4 times a year. Crossgates is just down the road from Whitkirk. Do you know the Brown Cow opposite the Church - That used to be my local. Went to Scouts next door - Became leader there for Scouts and Ventures.
Great times- Heading off in to the Lakes and Dales camping over the weekend rockclimbing, etc ahhh now reminissing and wanting to get out the office.
Accent is hard to loose, but would not want to loose it anyway. It's reet grand it is.
Some of the words I use also like 'Chuffing' and 'Oh Eck'

Haven't been able to catch up from last night, will do that later at home.
Think that I may have been a bit ambitious coming in today, feel more anxious than yesterday which is strange. Maybe it's a case of too much too soon.
Must practise some task concentration...it works you know :-)
Have made plans for this afternoon which is very important to do. Collect LM then take him for a haircut and then maybe pop to the hospital to meet the guys for a cup of tea. Is that sad? Going back there to see them? Think I feel safe there.
Anyway, sorry for rambling on, best do some work!

Thanks. You are so kind guys. Yep they are my mates, we have a special bond as we have been through so much together in the last 7 weeks or so.
Just worried that it's a cop out and I should be at home coping on my own. But suspect I might be being a bit hard on myself.
LM loves it there, did when I was an in-patient. Has so much fuss made of him and he seems to have a good effect on everyone there. Have no problems taking him there as it is nothing like a hospital more like a hotel!
Took him to visit one of my friends last Friday, we took some plasticine and she played with it for the first time ever. She has bad OCD and she was so pleased with herself.

Been a bit busy but had a very quick catch up.
MTF - persevere with FB, it took me awhile to get on but got there in the end. Not on there as much as the others and don't understand some of the things you can do but I've mastered the basics. I can't text very well either so its not surprising!! Go to one of the meets - it is well worth it. I've only been to one so far and like you was very nervous but everyone is great and really friendly - it was great fun.
AF - sorry to hear about your accident -what a bad end to an already bad day, things can only get better!!

That sound not a million miles away from something I am going to on Saturday. Mine is an American touring show called the Magic of Motown - celebrating 50 yrs of Motown.
5 piece male vocal ensemble and 3 girls plus band covering the hits of Four Tops, Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Same Cooke, Martha Reeves , Supremes, Stevie Wonder etc.

MTF - takes up about 2 hours plus to get to W-S-M. Thought we'd tag along and make a weekend of it rather than get up at stupid o'clock and do it all in a day.
However....NEWSFLASH.....All could have changed now........
I have a very broken hearted GD who was dumped for no apparent reason last night by her BF!!!!
Spent most of the night consoling (sp), lots of hugs, tlc and sweet tea with the shock of it. After 13 months, she didn't see it coming. She cried buckets, I joined in and between us we were totally washed out by bed time!
Glad to report that she got of the car at school this morning with her dead held high with a determination to be proud of (YES I AM!!).
You never forget your first love do you? Speshly when you break up at 17. Brought back loads of memories which had long been forgotten.
Much beloved now wants to go and punch BF's lights out when he gets back on Friday.
Grrrrrrrr!!!! Boys!!!!! Don't you just love 'em. Can't live with out them though, what ever their age.

Congrats Chris, it is great. I thought your career was over a few years ago and was dubious about the new show, worrying you'd sound dated but you've managed to prove again how much better you are than other DJs. Why? You're candour combined with a genuine love for people whilst your foot is still very much in the 'now'.

I so understand what you mean about feeling safe. I felt and still feel like that about my home now, after having been in an emotionally abusive relationship for years. It's great to have a place you feel safe, wherever it is.

congratulations but i cant believe you are leaving drive time you and the team always always make me smile and sometimes laugh out loud you are so full of energy and get excited makes us excited evan if peeling veg start work at 5 so will miss you no radio in work will really miss you steve wright then you and the team was a good line up dont think i can get has excited with simon mayo sorry simon but glad paul o grady will be on the tv was sooo pleased when you had drive time good luck with new show i will be very sad will miss you and the team xxx
