I Swear The Kid's A Genius.
Last night Noah insisted on watching The Brits...
... with the sound down ! That was interesting, although he did let us have it back up for Grand Designs which we'd recorded on the other side.
We love that show, it's the only thing programme we watch on a regular basis. Last night it was the best house ever. The only thing that bemuses me about the builds though is how they can create such wonderful constructions for the same price it's just cost me to build a few garages. Poor Tash, who oversaw all of the building and costing of the house we've just finshed, has to cover her ears and look away at the point they announce their projected budget. Surely there must be a few "deals" going on.
I was up early this morning which meant I had a spare half hour to have a look at your posts over the last few days. Hilarious, some of them, my favourite:

"I was holding up my daughter Rosie above my head, like dad's do for some reason, trying to make her laugh and giggle, any way she did, which made me laugh and then she went bleeurrgh...right into my mouth, I was so taken by surprise, I couldn't catch my breath and promptly swallowed the lot !"
Priceless, he went on to say it tasted like re-constituted milk but he still had to laugh.
I completely get what he means. I have absolutely no problem with Noah's poo, pee or vom. He can do any of it on me, anytime, anyplace, anywhere... oh in fact he just has, down my chest, inside my dressing gown, perfect.
If you'd have been sat next to me here five minutes ago you would have witnessed the concentration on his face when he number 2's, ever such a serious business in Noah's little eyes.
Oh by the way, watched Tash roll his swaddle this morning, she's getting far too fast.
And on the subject of my hugely better half, how about you hear from Tash tomorrow, you've all been so brilliant towrds her she would like to say thank you back. She's a bit nervous but I've told her to just write what she feels.

Love grand Designs and last nights kept me from going to bed (not sure if it's the same - I have to cope with what ever S4C decided to show - won't have sky and no digital yet!!), how on earth did that arch stay up??!!
But gorgeous house at the end - am very jealous, we've been doing up our house for 4 YEARS, and still don't have ceilings downstairs, or a proper kitchen.....mind you arrival of the boy did mean I got a bedroom upstairs and a bathroom, so shouldn't complain I suppose!
This blog is keeping me going while my job disappears before my eyes, so thankyou everyone!!

Grand designs - don't you just LOVE Kevin? Me and my friend have decided he must have some kind of special magic - almost all the women in that prog have babies during the build!!! My fave is still the house the man who lived and worked in the woods made out of all the timber, it looks like a fairy tale house, all curves and arches, and now he lives there with his wife (who he met when she asked if she could graze her sheep on his land!) and their baby!! Fab.

It's lovely that you read our posts Chris - I'm not sure what you will have made of some of our recent ones though!
This swaddling thing sounds a really great idea and I'm sure it must make babies feel very secure, but it wasn't promoted when I had mine (youngest is 17 in a few days) and it's yet another example of how things change even over a relatively short time!

Funny how when you are growing up and someone is about to 'throw' you run a mile, however when my 18 month old was ill and 'threw', my instinct was to gather her in to my chest....
I think that parenthood brings out the best in good people, however, the worth in bad.

didn't do the brits last night or grand designs, watched the bears catching salmon (not always too successfully!) with David A, amazing programme. Best bit when a baby bear managed to catch a salmon, looked not sure what to do, and then the salmon escaped. Poor baby bear!!

Just caught up on the blogs of the past few days and wonderful to hear you are all getting to grips with the business of being a family - so lovely! Have had tears in my eyes reading your love for Noah and Tash in your words. And the lovely way you described your relationship with Beth developing too. Beautiful!

Chris that took me back to Ben's first weeks, he would go all serious and raise his eyebrows Spock-esque before concentrating REEEALLY hard to do his number 2s. Oh and turn bright red. My how things change in a matter of months. These days he just looks rather fierce, and goes bright red, before squeezing really hard. Normally he then gives a big smile - look at me mummy, smell what I just did!!

Hey did you see Michael Mosley's make me live forever - there was a house featured in that which was seriously off-kilter but apparently would help you live longer (that is if you didn't fall and break something on the bobbly floor).

Ah Chris I've just attempted to clean up by baby's sick from my hair and neck. My hair is now crusty as it is a nightmare to get out completely. As Tash has long hair also, I must advise her to tie it back to avoid such situations. It will be great to here what Tash has to say on your blog tomorrow.
Did anyone notice that Take That didn't sing live on the Brits last night. I was really disappointed as I am a big fan and don't understand why they had to mime as they are so good at singing live!

i was a tad disappointed with TT too - i thought the space ship concept was a tad on the pants side of things. shame - as i was really looking forward to some gratuitous perving at Howard!! also thought a more upbeat song (Rule The World / Up All Night?) would have been a better song choice.
surprise of the night for me was Coldplay. who knew Chris Martin could move like that????

Hello all. I haven't been on here properly for a good few weeks now... Some of you might remember me going to uni and doubting it all, wwwweeeellllllll I lasted until the start of December and just decided one night that I'd had enough and just went home the next day... haven't regretted it for a second since! Very over rated in my opinion. Although 2 months in recession hit Britain and nowhere near even finding a job...(I haven't been hit by the recession in any other way apart from lack of job prospects...). So Chris if you have any jobs going at Radio 2....

Sorry back again - meant to comment on Grand Designs. I love that programme, and one day I too will have enough money to do up an old house. It's a long way off considering I live in a one bedroom flat!!
It never ceases to amaze me where these people get their money from, they must be mortgaged up to the hilt. But it makes for great entertainment, if not a little jealousy.
I haven't watched the Brits for years and don't seem to have missed out on much, it all seemed a bit OTT to me. Is it just me or does Kylie look like the girl out of Hustle (the new recruit - Kelly Adams).
Finally I am determined to track down the "W" crisps today and I might just have to buy a packet of each new flavour.

Oh Poo, have got to write it all out again! pressed wrong button and lost it, oh well here goes,
I was just rambling on about how much I think the Evans house will enjoy Christmas this year, I know it is your favourite time of year Chris and think that this year will top all previous years. Noah will probably be toddling around getting mixed up in all the wrapping paper and having a ball with all the empty boxes!! Your Christmas tree will be in trouble too! He will have a blast pulling all the decs off.

CherylTheDiva - I think Up all night would have been better for TT to sing, and yes more flesh needed to be shown from Howard. I know where you are coming from re Chris Martin (I bet that comes from all his yoga movements) but do you not think he dances out of time to the beat. My highlight was the duet with Pet Shop Boys and Brandon from The Killers. Who was the blonde girl singing with them at the end?

Loving the Noah updates - what a cool baby!! My nieces and nephews were all swaddled and it made them much easier to handle - I'm sure it was lovely for them too!
Also recorded Grand Designs so am looking forward to seeing it even more now.

Good luck with the job hunting Tom. For what it's worth I think you're doing the right thing. It does no harm to maybe call companies out of the blue and ask if there are any vacancies. Something WILL turn up.

TomGriff - I too live in a village, but after years of admin I started working in one of the high street stores - a greengrocers in my case. There's butchers being trained up, there's an old-fashioned sweet shop, florist, deli - but I suppose it depends what sort of work you want. I say, change your thinking and change your expectations, and get a better quality life out of it all :)

I've got a little one who does all that changing of life and expectations thing for me every day...

Daughter's b/f is moving on Sat too. Long story, his mum chucked him out, poor lad, so he's been living with us, has now found his own little bedsit, him and daughter painted it yesterday and we're moving him in on Sat. Just off to buy him some bathroom essentials which I bet he won't think of to help him settle in!

I have enjoyed reading your bloggs and the responses for a long time and only "joined in" for the first time last week. It really is lovely to not only "share" these special times but to enjoy your experiences and feelings. At a time in my life when most days it is very difficult to "steer the ship" it really makes you remember what IS important in life. My "little miracle" is nearly 12 and it is true time flys by so quickly, so enjoy every minute. Reading the daily blogs really gives me a lift, and I need that just now, so thank you. x

Oh Chris, you bring back some long forgotten memories for me! Thank you. It's just taken me ages to read your blog, I went off into a daydream, remembering when my son was a baby. the Gambler has been stuck in my head since yesterday afternoon - when during a meeting were discussing a case where someone has been forced into a seemingly lose-lose situation and trying to decide whether or not to continue the fight or abandon a point of principle.

Chilli choc crisps - yes!! Much better than yesterdays lame breakfast effort. But agree - the chocolate element is lost somewhat in the chilli-ism.
Still recommend you all try chilli chocolate. The real stuff. Dark organic choc with chilli in. Wonderful.

It's blatantly obvious you're loving every minute of Noah's early days, and it's wonderful to read about! I'm a new Nan as of 11 weeks ago and, like you, I just love EVERYTHING my granddaughter Rachel produces - from dirty nappies to beaming grins! She can do no wrong in my eyes.
My ARF suggestion is GRACE by JEFF BUCKLEY - just because it's an amazing song by a brilliant performer (RIP) and it'd be a great song to start off a Friday show.

Dook, I think the Gambler ARF suggestion is great. I remember my father playing it for me saying this was a good "life's lesson"..... all true of course. I also believe it was a fav of the English rugby team at the last world cup. Got them all the way to the final.......

Hello everyone and Chris,
I have been reading the Blog for a while but like many, this is my first entry.
I feel like I am reading someone's private diary and sharing the thoughts in their head. Chris you write so beautifully about Noah and Tash, makes me want to cry. It has brought back such lovely memories of when my 3 year old daughter was a baby and you have made me remember to cherish every moment, smile, laugh, tear, cuddle and kiss. Already I see her, as Abba put it "slipping through my fingers" as she grows into an independent little girl.
Thank you for everyone who has made me laugh and cry and I look forward to joining in more often.

In my experience, there are so many people going for each job these days, a degree, as long as it is for something meaningful, could be the difference between getting an interview and not and lets face it getting an interview is the most important step.
That gets you the chance to promote yourself.

Thing is ThunderclapN, my daughter's doing an illustration degree which she's just started. But what she really loves is working with autistic children, which she started doing Sats and hols just before she started her degree. So does she do the degree and then work with the kids (with a big debt hanging round her neck) or go and work with them full time now and get trained as she goes??
I know which one I'd go for, but obviously I have to keep it zipped and let her make her own decision.
So hard (to keep it zipped that is!!)
Funny thing is I'ave always really wanted her to go to Uni cos I thought it's the best foundation to lay for the future. Until now.

I'm with you on this one - I think she should follow her heart. Training and experience can count for more than a degree which might not be used. There's a world of difference with learning things by the book and learning by experience. As you say, you have to let her come to her own decision and support her whichever road she decides to take.
Sounds like shes got a sensible mum in you though -let us know what she decides in the end.

Afternoon again people! Having a better later afternoon as I've found out that the subject of yesterday's meeting have decided (quite rightly) to "fold 'em" Hopefully i'll get a better nights sleep tonight!
It's odd I don't normally have trouble with the ole zzzzs and especially over someone elses problem but for some reason this kept me awake until after 1 this morning - however i was able to complete 7 hard sudukos - time not wasted then;-)

Tins / Tomgriff - I agree you should follow your instincts my eldest is finishing uni this year and loved it and hasdone well - he still doesn't know where its taking him job wise tho'. My daughter on the otherhand has a lifeplan!!
But I know several of their peer groups who found it wasn't for them. I think that part of the problem is that if you have a chance of getting grades for uni - schools assume thats what you will do and there is little help/advice for those who don't know want they want to do or for whom uni might not be the right thing.
Knowing your own children and following your instincts applies to grown up children as well as babies!! I always give my opinion but ultimately its their choice ,

Meant to say to you Tomgriff. Totally agree regarding following your instincts. My almost 18 year old is planning to go to university but if he didn't I would be equally as happy/proud. As long as he was happy and not sitting on his bum all day playing the Playstation then it would be fine!

Have you ever known a man to be so there in the moment with the sheer joy of life? It does make you get up and go.....
I stopped drinking regularly last february when he did... haven't really gotten into it again, I've maybe had 2 nights of drunken unadulterated fun, but the rest - it's just been unadulterated fun without the drunkeness and it hasn't half been bad! Much nicer to wake up in the morning, early and ready to go.
As for ALF : I'd quite like Air Hostess by Busted, for no other reason is that it is good fun, loud, fast and crazy, and that's how I want to be on a Friday PM!

...I started a course, not at Uni, but started it anyway...full of ideas and dreams about our future, only to find out, several months in, and after having done a fair bit of work, I found that the direction of the course was totally different to what I had been led to expect. I am still in, not dispute, but a kind of still asking nicely area to try to get my money back...
I followed my heart and got let down.
Either way...it's a very difficult call when you think it is all going to be ok!
A friend of mine is doing all her piano teacher grades as she wants to be part of the Nordoff Robins movement...but she also wants to cook for a living...and has won a place at a very prestigious cooking school...her anguish is visible!
Tins, she'll be fine...whatever she decides what to do...for my part, I'd go to uni...yes she'll probably have a massive debt...but she'll make a huge network of lovely friends, and also be able to earn a better salary with which to pay the debt off...and I'm sure if she's that dedicated, she'll find somewhere that she can work with these children, part time, while she's doing the course.
and quite apart from anything, she's got you for a mum

Chris, definately enjoy these early days with Noah.
I had my 1st child, a beautiful baby girl nearly 10 weeks ago and time flies so quick.
Things that used to take me an hour (like going to the shops) now takes me about 4. By the time you get baby sorted and pram set up, the time has disappeared and you realise at 4pm that you haven't had any lunch!

Agencies: waste of time been to 4 all they could offer me was, 1 week, paying pennies and about 40 miles away! or
A retail outlet on an industrial estate (I think one of those warehousey type of jobbies) shift work starting at 10 pm. 'But of course we will be looking for something more suitable'.

Whilst in a well known retail outlet to purchase this evenings red medicine (have you tried it Gallo Bros Ruby Cabernet - its deelish, liquid velvet)
When mobile goes off, unfortunately just at the same time a very small child also 'whent off' so difficult to hear, but anyhoo t'was another agency they have put me forward for what sounds like a peach of a job, so can all the blogging peeps keep everything crosed for me (fingers, Toes, Eyes, legs - I need 'em all)

I have summink to tell you and summink I'd like your opinion on.
In the morning my brother and I are meeting at the cemetary to have my mums ashes interred. I don't especially agree with this but it seems important to my bruv to have a place to go and feel closer to mum. I on the other hand don't need this as I think she's around the whole time.
I have however divided the ashes and think I want to scatter them in my garden, which was one of mums fave spots on earth to sit and talk to my (now departed and burried in garden cat) that mum adored.
So they will kind of be together again.
Tell me, am I crazy??

No - you're not crazy. She was your mum too.
I didn't get a say when I lost my dad in 2005 and ever since have wished I'd been stronger. To this day I have absoutely no idea what his "partner" did with his ashes after the funeral. The best thing about the entire episode is that I no longer have to ensure that woman!

Agree with having somewhere to go to "chat" Nicki. My mums ashes are 700 miles away but we have a tree planted in her memory in a local country park and we go regularly for picnics.

I have only recently been reading Chris' blog and now I can't stop. I have gone right back to August 2006 and started reading that too!

Nicki - Good luck with the job prospects and I don't think you're crazy at all, I'm lucky that both of my folks are still around, but I'd definitely want somewhere to go and chat and somewhere where she was happiest sounds perfect. When we lost the grandfolks we scattered their ashes in the same place (5 years apart), it's nice to think they're 'together' again.
Right, got to get the next generation to bed before he falls asleep on the living room floor!

This is the first time I've ever commented on any Blog! Its wonderful to read about your adventures into the world of parenthood and the love and pride you have for your lovely wife and son. My youngest is 3 weeks older than Noah and as she is my 4th (and last!) its been a reminder, through new parents eyes, how special they all are. Also remember the old saying "There is only one beautiful baby in the world and every mother has it" Keep writing your Blog and what a great book you could print to read in couple of years time when you forget the early years. I kept a diary for the 1st year of life for each of mine and its great to look back and amazing what you forget!

nicki- when me mam died "87 my dad, brother and sister and myself all kept a little of her ashes as we couldnt bear to be parted, the rest were scattered in a lovely spot on the hogs back in guildford. unfortunatly my father passed away in "05 and my siblings scattered his and the little amounts of my mothers we all had(including my fathers) at the same spot. i now live 500 miles from there, spose what im saying is that even tho that is a special place where " they are hopefully together" what matters is they will always be in my heart wherever they are, whether together or not.

Hi All,
I've not had a chance to properly read the blog today, I've only just finished reading tuesday's and some of yesterday's. It's been really hectic here, my computer doesn't know what's goingon, its not been switched on for 48 hours-unheard of!
Well talking about time going really quickly, my oldest child was 8 today, and even though I've had two more since I still remember the day she was born as if it was yesterday!
Half term is almost over and its actually been quite fun, now roll on easter when the kids are home for 2 weeks.
Looking forward to reading Tash's blog tomorrow.

#152 Deev, my daughter's had loads of books, she's really into reading at the moment, and also she's had a nintendo ds which she's been saving up for since the summer, all her xmas money went towards it and she finally got enough money for it today so we went and got it.
My sister had roller skates and I couldn't even stand up on them, there's no way I'd even try it now, to much of a wimp!

Blimey just found out by pure chance that Jade Goody has got a business just 5 minutes down the road from me, drive past it all the time. Never knew that she had a salon here although I knew that she was fairly local.
Still not to sure how I feel about the press coverage although I know that it is her choice. It's the saddest story. I hope that the message is getting through...have your regular check ups ladies.
Had a scare 10 years ago, ended up at the Portland for treatment. Still have yearly checks now.
Anyway..scented candle lit..glass of wine waiting and the sofa beckons.

I can picture you Chris sitting there this morning in your dressing gown with Noah, typing with one hand. It's amazing how adept you become at doing things one handed once you have a baby!!

Of course I don't mind MCM. I had abnormalities. Had something called a cone biopsy which removed the abnormal cells. Had a local anaesthetic while they did this and the injection was the worst bit but the rest ok. Then had some further laser treatment which took away the rest. I would go into more detail but maybe not for here.

Congratulations to you and Tash. I just love reading your blogs; they bring back all the gorgeous feelings of when my first child was born.
I know exactly what you mean when you say you'd like Noah to stay like he is for another year. I have a 3-year-old and a 4-month-old and that is exactly how I used to feel when my 3-year-old was born. What you come to realise though is that you are actually at the start of the most amazing, rewarding journey, that just gets better and better every day. You always think "I want them to stay just like this - they are the loveliest now that they have ever been". Then they change a bit and you realise that the next stage is the best they have ever been. And wait til you hear the most precious, the most heart-warming, tear-jerking words in the world ever..."I love you Daddy". (or in my case mummy!) You'll have the biggest lump in your throat ever.

Oh bless her thanks for asking Lin.
Vet thinks it may be an infection so she has antibiotics and has had a blood test. Have to take her back on Saturday.
Funniest thing is that when Mr Debbie picked her up to put her in the back of the car, she let rip in his face. I found it so funny...I know it sounds quite silly...but you had to be there. Told him not to squeeze her so hard next time.
But for now she is happily snoring at my feet right now.

For ARF can I suggest Rosie by Argent. It is a cracking song and that is how Rosie was named. When growing up, my parents constantly played us Argent albums, especially Argent 'In Deep' and Argent 'Circus', and Rosie was one of the tracks that I loved and I remember saying that if I had a daughter, that is what I would call her!! Hence, Rosie and the milk!!

Ooo talking about Grand Designs, one of my best friends had a friend of hers appear on the show last year. Apparently their house was chosen as one of the top 10, had to laugh when said best friend told me she took her daughter over there on a visit and she promptly squeezed toothpaste all over the windows of the uber-modern bathroom...the daughter did, not my best friend of course..hehe

Evening all from another Rosie! Unfortunately I wasn't named after any cool songs or anything like that... in fact I am really a Rosemary but NO-ONE ever calls me that (on pain of death or just being plain ignored)
Haven't managed to catch up with all the posts just yet but loving CLPs blog as per usual... what with Noah and Beth it's amazing how much your lives revolve around poo these days...
First day back at work today, spent the first hour convinced it was Friday instead of Thursday. Ho hum. had a nice post work swim and sauna, then pasta with meatballs in a spicy tomato sauce and homemade choccie cake for pud! The recipe calls for pureed beetroot! Yes I was sceptical but it tastes good!

My 6 year old is soooo into the little man'S progress and when you announced "Noah is in the house" she found an excuse to leave the tea table and stump the vol up on the radio and then cried because she couldnt see him!!!!We are serious "Noah Evans " followers!!!!!

I've been reading the posts with a mounting sense of incredulity but #164 takes the biscuit (other canine snacks are available).
To the best of my knowledge Beth is a dog and therefore is unlikely to be contibuting to this blog in the near future.
Of course, if there has been some great scientific breakthrough that I have missed, which allows dogs to type their views on the arrival of a baby into their lives, then I apologise unreservedly.

Nicki...I think its a lovely idea to have your Mum's ashes in your garden and you can spend some lovely quiet moments with her in her favourite place. Equally though, I think its good idea to divide the ashes so that your brother has his place to go. Also in years ahead your house may no longer be in the family and future generations may want to visit where there relatives are.
MCM ..good luck and will be thinking of you. My friend has recently been through a very tougth time with cancer but has now been given the all clear. There is a lot of help out there.

Nicki, I'm a bit late commenting on your blogs (you'll get used to that...), but I say do whatever you think your mum would've liked. If your garden was a place she loved, then go for it. My Dad would like his ashes scattered on the bridle path he walks every morning, because that's where he's happiest. Mum's are in a grave, with her parents, and it's nice to have somewhere to go, but she's not really *there*.
Good luck with the job hunt too. Don't really rate agencies, they don't seem to listen to what you tell them and I don't really know what they do? They used to find work for you, but now (around here anyway), you have to look for the job and they're just the middle man who sends off your CV to the company...

Marvellouscornishmum - I had lots of abnormal smears and eventually was diagnosed with Stage 2 CIN? I had a biopsy and was treated with loop diathermy. That was about 3 years ago and I've been totally fine since, totally clear. There are so many brill things they can do, try not to worry too much (easier said than done, I know).

Good morning all, it is still morning isn't it.
Oh well, all done at the cemetary, it is a beautiful stone, I'd just prefer it wasn't in a cemetary amongst strangers if you get my drift.
Really I just wanted to say a HUGE thankyou to all of you guys for wishing me well, boy it dunarf help.
Hust had to mention Grand Designs - Fab show, plus I've always thought there was something sexy about Kevin Mc. then a couple of years ago I knew why, he has an uncanny resemblance to Mr Noos, Lucky me or what!
Waiting for news on the job front.
That's all for now, I have Mr Noos home today as not at all well, not man flu either, so I shall have to fuss 'n cuddle him.
Will try to pop back later (he doesn't understand the pull of the blog)

Sounds like life with Noah is fab. With each of ours we kept a diary of what they did, how we felt etc..., we plan to give them their diaries when they're older and we hope it'll help them a little if they have their own babies. It's amazing what I'd have forgotten had I not written it down. I now write little summaries about 6 monthly of what they're up to, their little triumphs or worries, their ideas, their dreams of the moment. I hope one day they'll enjoy reading them.
P.S I love Grand Designs too....and I LOVE Kirstie and Phil on Relocation Relocation.

all babies are the same, the smell, the looks, the taste (yuk) but still, they're the cutest things ever.
if you ever need a babysitter ring me. i wouldn't mind lookin after your little noah just as long as you clear up the poop, you may not mind th mess but i doo.hahah.
