199 that's what they tell me.

Chris Evans | 09:49 UK time, Monday, 19 January 2009

199, a significant number...

... for me at the moment at least. A significant number indeed. Oh my goodness so siginificant, if what they say is true. Who knows?

Here's another significant number, 10. 10 is the number of days until we two are due to become we three. Mother and unborn sprog both doing fine by the way.

How about 6 and 6, those are two lots of money I owe.

Ah yes, I was thinking about those two little issues this morning whilst swimming my way back to wakefulness.

Another 10... the number of circuits I do, on my run.

14! The number of minutes I spend on the power plate after my run.

2... the time I must have left for work by.

7... the number of records I must play in the first hour - 8, the number I must play in the second hour.

8 again... the time my wife expects me home.

Life in many ways is governed by numbers. Is this because where we live it's all about money and time?

But 199, now that's the number... or so they tell me.

CLP.

2009.

HOW TO GIVE A CAT A TABLET...

Pick cat up and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding tablet in right hand. As cat opens mouth pop tablet into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

Retrieve tablet from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.

Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy tablet away.

Take new tablet from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm holding rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push tablet to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.

Retrieve tablet from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe. Call spouse from garden.

Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop tablet down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.

Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another tablet from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for glueing later.

Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit. Put tablet in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil and blow down drinking straw.

Check label to make sure tablet not harmful to humans, drink glass of water to take taste away. Apply Band-Aid to spouse's forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.

Retrieve cat from neighbour's shed. Get another tablet.

Place cat in cupboard and close door onto neck to leave head showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick tablet down throat with elastic band.

Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus jab. Throw Tee-shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.

Ring fire brigade to retrieve cat from tree across the road. Apologise to neighbour who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat.

    Take last tablet from foil-wrap.
Tie cat's front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table, find heavy duty pruning gloves from shed. Push tablet into mouth followed by large piece of fillet steak. Hold head vertically and pour 2 pints of water down throat to wash tablet down.

Get spouse to drive you to the emergency room, sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearm and removes tablet remnants from right eye. Call furniture shop on way home to order new table.

Arrange for RSPCA to collect cat and ring local pet shop to see if they have any hamsters.

How to give the dog a tablet

    Wrap it in bacon.

Can I just add, these are not necessarily approved methods....

A saw a car crazily attempt to undertake me at a motorway slip road/ roundabout and nearly 'it me., even though a waz already occupying both lanes and there waz no room for any vehicle ter come up me inside. I didn't see 'im 'it me or feel any bumps etc. So I carried on. (I get used ter impatient drivers at roundabouts in me HGV trying to come around me or cutting me up. All part of the job and this a thought waz no different). Only problem it turned out noot ter be as a goot a letter from the police a month or two later saying i'd been involved in an accident. I immediately checked me rig for damage but noot even a scratch. A mystery to me!
I thought maybe a compensation merchant as ave been warned by my company that a lot of false claims ave been drawn up against the company I worked for.
A gave a statement ter the police and told me employer and 'eard nothing until last year - suddenly a find the insurance company are taking me ter court for 4k plus legal costs.... could be 5, 6, 8k maybe if a lose.
I found out that both insurance companies refused ter settle so they came after me personally.
On top of this a found my employers insurance company ave a clause if they are noot notified about the accident within so many months then the insurance is void.... so I waz left out in the cold!!!
Makes yer wonder why we get damn insurance when they always try ter wriggle out of their responsibility!!
Any way a waz in court Fridee and 'ad ter defend meself as a couldn't afford a solicitor. Me against them and their barrister.
I saw the driver and 'is passenger for the first time. Both young blokes who didn't even make the effort ter dress smart for court. And I later found out they didn't even turn up for the first 'earing in December, that's why it waz adjourned until know!
The claimants said the car waz written off.... amazing since there waz no damage ter me hgv!!!! Nooot even a damn scratch... a mean yer don't write off a car without some kind of damage!!!!!@!!@!@!!!
They said they had overtook me in the very narrow right lane even though I waz going right and them left and then I just drove inter them!!! Noot true, I arrived there first and they tried ter undertake me!!
If they 'ad then if they were in such a 'urry they would ave been gone from the junction by the time I goot there in me slow hgv. It all didn't add up!
Basically there waz so many flaws in their case and statements which I 'ighlighted in court.
The judge seemed very intelligent and fair. I really like judges, I find they always are very intelligent individuals who really take the time ter do their job brilliantly and properly... the opposite of most politicians.
The judge seemed on my side but a still couldn't be sure until 'is verdict. But the other side's case waz a complete mess... the judge ripped into them... I think it waz obvious they were telling lies.
The best part waz when summing up 'e pulled out 'is 'ighway Code and started preaching rules regarding roundabouts and HGV's ter the claimants!!!!!
Then 'e dimissed the case and actually started to ask what my expenses are and awarded me expenses!!!!!
A couldn't believe it all!!! A tell yer maybe there's a god after all!!!!!
Maybe BAD 08 is behind me and 09 iz going ter be good!!!!
The judge really 'as restored my faith in 'uman nature... it would 'ave been such a bitter pill ter swallow if i'd lost the case, especially since a waz innocent and the insurance company 'ad even done the dirty on me too!!!
Sometimes yer start ter feel yer cursed when all these bizzare bad things keep 'appening ter me from last year!!
On my way out of court I quickly said ter the judge "thank you so much, I really can't tell you enough 'ow grateful I am for your decision, thank you!!!!!"

Maybe 09 is gonna be my year at last!!!!!

    Chow ter ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Good Morning .......

Great blogging last night gang. I thought I was all laughed-out but having read your shennanigans from last eve, there's still some laughter juice in the Diva tank yet!

Well. Where to begin with last night??

Had a lovely meal with bonkers girlfriend in pub en route to theatre. Then platonic male friend (someone I used to work with, hottie) arrived. We've not seen eachother for about 3 years but "speak" regularly on email/FB etc. Had a quick catch-up, intros etc then piled in his car (leaving mine at pub - result!) and toodled off to the theatre.

8pm. Support act Mister Gee was fantastic. Not everyone's cup of tea being a hip-hop poet but he was really funny. Had us in stitches about gang culture on the internet, drive-by pokes on FB and things of that ilk.

8.20 pm. Interval. Very very loud Smiths blasted over the PA. Mr Brand backstage, doing his very best Morrisey thing, possibly on the phone to Paul McKenna as is the norm before 95% of his live performances.

8.45 pm. House lights down. Crowd go bonkers ...... enter stage left Mr Russell Edward Brand.

OMG! He's wearing (from the bottom up) shin-high lace up boots which aren't laced, so flapping around his mid-calf area, tight black rouched leggings, a cotton-jersey little black dress (yes, really!), a long black flowy scarf tied nonchalantly round his neck and the whole outfit is finished with a skinny black leather jacket. Died and gone to heaven - Russell. In leather. In front of me!!!

And off he goes. Running with the whole Sachsgate episode, his hero worship for Jonathan Ross, running towards a precipice but not stopping at the edge, Manuel, the Daily Mail, the MTV VMA Awards and those tumbleweed moments, his "admiration" for Dame Helen Mirren ..... and on he goes. Pure unadulterated comedy gold.

There was a tiny percentage of the material I'd heard on his radio show (Tim Westwood / Easter Egg / Porridge story for his radio show fans among you).

My highlight of the night was when he was playing a video of him and Jonathan Ross singing into Mr Sachs answerphone, during which time he came and sat on the egde of the stage, foppy boots and gangly legs a-dangling. Our seats were actually in the 2nd row and there was a space for a wheelchair in front of me, but no wheelchair - just a BIG gaping vast space. As the video of Ole Russ digging himself deeper into the doo-doo played on a big screen in the background, he caught my eye and pointed back at the screen then winked, as if to say "this is a good bit, this".

Hottie sitting next to me dug me in the ribs with an "oh gawd" expression and then said "well, that's made your night".

    How right he was!!!!

He was better this time than the last, and I believe if you look up the word "Egocentric" in the Dictionary it will just say "Russell Edward Brand".

I'll leave you with this thought, courtesy of Mr Brand: what happens if you google the word "Google"

    ;-)

Sachsgate appears to be one of those rare events where everyone wins.

Ross's career does not seemed to have been harmed, he's back on TV and radio and presenting the BAFTA awards. He also got a nice long holiday.

Brand has got out of a show he didn't really want to do anymore and has a load of new material for his shows.

Douglas has fallen on her feet. Did it give her a convinent way out after having got as far as she could with R2?

ps I forgot my pass this morning and the bus driver was gonna charge me £10 as I only had a £20 note. After I'd finished sobbing to him that this is all the money I had in the world, and that my month's pass was at home in my other coat, and I was SOOOOOOO sorry to be presenting him with the aforementioned score...he gave me all my change in £1 coin...and then changed some of it back up for me into a magic £10 when I got off...so not all bad then!

Am having a bonkers bus week I feel.
