ONE FOR YOU, TWO FOR ME, NONE FOR TASH
You know my wife and I have this game, actually we have several games...
... but the one in particular i want to talk about is :
When one of us says to the other,
"I KNOW SOMETHING YOU DON'T..."
It's a secrets game and it's really good... the secret has to be substantial and 100 % for the other person.
The deal is you can reveal all at any time but obviously the longer you can bare to leave the "reveal" the better.
Past reveals have included:- pregnancy, flying lessons and my last one, which was the fact that I had an extra week off work that I hadn't told my wife about. I managed to leave this last one until just the day before.
The current state of play, however, is that my wife has two "I KNOW SOMETHING YOU DON'TS," whereas I have none for her. An, as of yet, unique state of play.
HOWEVER...
I do have one for you ...
I KNOW SOMETHING YOU DON'T!
CLP.
2008.

Is it baby related...(am a little obsessed with babies myself and thinking that as my nights are still unbroken I might as well get all the sleeplessness out of the way in one go!), could it be your Christmas Gift??
As for what you know that we don't, I LOVE surprises, so hold out for ages please!

I'm rubbish at keeping secrets from Mr M, I'm a bit like that woman on Catherine Tate, you know the one who can't wait to tell her husband what's happened to her that day! He however is very good at secrets and surprises, I'm going on a mystery birthday trip on Friday (it can't be too far away as we can't leave until 9 and have to be back for 3.15!) I can honestly say there is nothing I know that he doesn't (apart from what he's getting in his Christmas stocking!)

re: secrets...About 4 years ago I was taken to Paris and proposed to. It was supposed to be a secret but there were a few things that stopped it being so
a) I was due to go out with my friends but was told to cancel it because he was planing on taking me somewhere
b) He is a bit of a werretter (how on earth do you spell that? Do you know what I mean???) so the night before I had to check all the tickets and passports were correct....

my fella proposed in paris to me this year - I knew we were going (I had booked it) but didn't know he would propose but
1) - he has said if he was going to propose it would be something romantic - like Paris
2) - he had gone for a walk with my Dad the week before to tlak in private
3) - he was looking really shifty and he was either going to ask or dump me!
It was still really romantic and the surprise was my anagagement ring is a ring i saw in an antique fair 2 years before that he had bought in secret and kept for such an occasion

Hmmmm.....surprises and secrets..........I really don't like them - I never know how to react - don't want to disappoint but can't lie!!! Mr Egg is hopeless at surprises & secrets - you can just tell he's got one and can't wait to tell you, then blurts it all out in a one-er!
Engagements - I wasn't bothered about the whole marriage thing - he came in with "that" silly look on his face, put his jacket over the back of the dining chairs, gave me a big hug (I was washing up and didn't really appreciate it!), and went out......little collie puppy (18mth old) sniffs at jacket - digs something out of pocket - batters it around the kitchen then legged off with it down the corridor - I followed to find her chewing on the ring box - aye REALLY chowing down on it - Hmmmmmmm! made sure the contents was still in one piece, put it back in his jacket and when he came in told him that the dog had done a better job of it than him!
The "official" story was that he proposed at the Scotland England Rugby match at Murrayfield when Scotland gubbed England - Mum didn't know which I was more excited at the engagement or the score!!!!!!

morning/afternoon all,
I'm pretty rubbish at keeping secrets, and I hate surprises. But I did manage a surprise birthday party for Mr Dragon a few years ago with all his old uni mates he hadn't seen for years. He got his own back when he and my two lovely friends arranged for them to come and visit for a week for my 30th this year.
When Mr Dragon proposed to me it was a huge surprise. we were on holiday, and he had talked to my dad on the phone before I left England. Turns out he had carried my ring around in his back pack all weekend without me knowing, and getting all paranoid at security in the airport when they wanted to search his bag!!!

Ello Super B, B's Mum, Chezza and everyone else on the blog....
A spotted this very funny article on the internet about spotters aka train/ rail enthusiasts involved in a minor rail crash a couple of years ago......
RAIL ENTHUSIASTS HURT AS TRAIN HITS THE BUFFERS
Thirty-one people were injured, two of them seriously, when a train full of rail enthusiasts crashed into the buffers at a station yesterday. (YES BLOG FRIENDS THESE ARE RAIL ENTHUSIASTS - PEOPLE WHO TRAVEL ON TRAINS FOR ENJOYMENT)
One person suffered fractured ribs and another a suspected broken leg when the special tourist service crashed at Walton on the Naze, Essex, at about 2pm. (MAYBE THAT SHOULD BE DAZE.. noot NAZE)
The other 29 passengers suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
A Railtrack spokesman said the train was travelling at less than 10mph when the accident happened.
The special service, from Crewe to Clacton-on-Sea, was operated by a Gloucestershire rail tours firm Pathfinder (DIDN'T FIND THE CORRECT PATH ERE), as an opportunity to bid farewell to the Class 58 diesel-electric, which is being withdrawn from service. (BID FAREWELL DIDN'T AVE TER WRITE THE LOCO OFF AND 'ALF THE PASSENGERS)
It was called the "Bone Breaker" tour because rail enthusiasts nickname the class 58 "Bone"!!!!!! (BONE BREAKER... CERTAINLY WAZ!!!)
Struck me all as being very a funny article...all 100% true all!!!!!

Hello all
Goodness me and what can I say except that I am humbled that my straightforward attempts to describe the misadventures that befall my family on a regular basis are worthy of any award. Particularly one with HUMOUR as the label. I personally find very little fun in other people's disasters. Look at Ravel, for example, stuck in China with a bunch of waspish Chino-Bulgarian lawyers seemingly able, through their incompetence, to secure a conviction against someone they are defending in order to satisfy Ravel's desire for revenge. Wholly distasteful, in my opinion.
I am around, if anyone wants a chat, by the way. I sit on facebook sometimes, just hoping someone will say hello. Shame is, I just don't get much time to go online these days, on account of having to ration our electricity so that we can pay for the twins to go to scuba diving lessons (it was the only thing they showed interest in, and it keeps them out of the barn for a few hours each week).
cheers

Well Christabelle.......now we all know. How terribly exciting! Can I suggest a rocking good song to play for our jolly brave forces whom ever and where ever they maybe. Its also kind of a Christmas wish.....'Rocking in the Free World' by Neil Young. Have a great time and well done you for yet another fab show and in anticipation of a graet all request Friday.

I too was soaking in the bath.
No facepack, and, alas, no shiraz.
Then, we donned our silly hats and took a leaf from the CtD book of Christmas fun and went for a tour of the village lit houses.
Crumbs. People have gone, ahem, the 'extra mile' this year, haven't they?
But, I guess this is no ordinary year.
I don't really have a NYR other than to 'do' all things we planned to do this year and somehow never got round to. The first one was decided today with number one mate.
The Three Peaks Challenge.
There will be more.
Don't forget that there is also a 'mini-meet' next week when I finally get round to buying Dan The Man his pint of black stuff.
Get festive and keep safe

Evening all,
Cor, that took some catching up, and now can't remember the main points of conversation. Though, do feel as though I need the word 'Natch' explained to me -as its been used in context with my and my loverly lover.
Hold ups - I have a pair of black over the knee socks with lacy top that I wear with a silky 2 piece black number on 'special' occassions. Aah, that'll be why we've been nominated for the GAR award. Sorry folks. Oh, and I agree, the belts must stay!
I must admit I fake it. Tree-wise that is, black with silver glitter tips, very bushy and luxurious. It will be going up sometime next week, and pics will be posted.
As for secrets, I used to be hopeless, always had to tell somebody, then somebody else, then somebody else, until I had told everyone. Now though, much better - and very good at the wind up too...
Til later,
MW, a!

Evening each
Good heavens you lot have been busy today.
Just back from work - yes Bond - another bleedin' meeting!
Have just put up my (fake) 1ft purple tree, complete with fairy, balls and lights. This is a first for me in this house. Although I've been here for nearly 10 years I've never felt the Christmas spirit here. Haven't even displayed my cards, although I appreciated every one.
Have spent a lot of time and money making it habitable (new kitchen, bathroom, heating) and am now selling it so I can move on and do what I want. Is that the answer?
Anyhow, a different feeling this year. I'm getting in the Christmas spirit. Going to see Santa on Sunday with the 3 little'uns and making all sorts of plans with my daughter and 2 sons and their partners. And really looking forward to the Glasgow meet on Monday.
Suse: Why would I be fed up with your texts?

Hello!
Matt - didn't see you in the bath hun!!
We've got some real chavtastic efforts of uber-lit up houses round here this year. Lots of blue. Not classy icicle blue but harsh Chelski FC blue. nice! And one of the pubs I drive past en route to the fun factory every morn has a giant inflatable polar bear tethered to its flank, with a "baby polar bear" nestled between its legs - it looks quite obscene and has garnered many un-bloggable names from the villagers!!
Anne - I've loaned my purple tree and its red decs to bonkers friend for her office for the second year running. The black tree I bought last year for the office and all the pink and silver shoes that adorn it are still in the loft but will be coming to Center Parcs with us for new year. My orange box room office is too small for a crimmy tree - pity. But we're making do with bright pink and black tinsel.
Thirsty Thursday is my Friday tomorrow!!! Yay!
Oh Steve - didn't do the invoicing today but will get the abacus out tomorrow.
Thanks super_baggy and Lyndyloo for the crimmy cards too - mine will all be in the post on Friday: yep, day off and first job is to go queue at the post office. oh what joy and fun to behold!!

Re CLP's original blog, I'm holding no big secrets at the mo either for myself or anyone else - thankfully!
I do like fun secrets, like amazing presents or trips away, but in the past I've been entrusted with some quite serious things by friends and I hate that - all the responsibility of not letting it slip out and the wondering if you really ought to tell someone else (the old 'do they have a right to know?' scenario) but not wanting to break the friend's confidence.............oh the dilemmas!
Work calls me, so I'll pop back later.
But first, can I go back to my original guess of a robin for the advent calendar today? I've totally lost track of what we've had already now!

It does indeed seem that if it's not in MP3 format then they wont play it. Considering the size of the BBC's record library it is a shame they wont. Maybe R2 isn't as broad a church of music as they lead us to believe.
Oh well onwards and upwards.

I'm treating Mr P to a weekend away for his 30th next year - have been saving for months and can't wait to see his face on the big day!
Debbie / CtD: I once had a stocking nightmare when my what-I-thought-were-hold-ups slipped down as I legged it up the stairs of a venue in Brighton. Not a good look at a Strokes gig.
Aunty_Karen - I didn't buy the TelAled song because I'm not keen on it either but I gather that a lot of people are - don't be so cynical.
MW, a!: Natch = Naturally but shortened. Sorry, it's a throw-back to Just Seventeen magazine that I can't seem to stop using years later!
My Xmas Wish: a fun Christmas day and a debauched NYE.
New Year's Resolution: take up swimming once a week, get a tattoo, do a sky-dive
Prezzie I Always Wanted: As a child, Mr Frosty. Now, a pair of Louboutins.
If I was the PM - nobody would wear flat shoes (except for sporting purposes) and everyone would laugh at least once a day (nicking your idea there, Ging).
My nomination for Yummy Mummy is Susan.
Hope to pop back in a bit,
Rosie x

I put them on, she fitted me into them. Result - I have terrific bras that really fit! Up until now I have just been guessing and now I know my actual size, I can see why I've been having problems!

Ooo, super bp - a boosy time! I popped into see my bro and sis at M&S the other day - they had had their works Christmas lunch, and all the staff were quite merry! And congrats on being such a good attender - I never got such awards at school or Sunday school!!!

Now, would you like us all to think of unPC comments for you to throw into conversation?? Pics of the ballgown please when it comes!! And you know we can keep a secret - spill!!

Time out - 50% of invoicing done, and I need to have a bit of a rant.
Rant #1
Remember earlier this year I did the Race For Life? Well, I've had numerous phone calls at home and on my mobile during works time from the charity concerned. UP until last eve I've always been unable to talk but last night when they called (5 mins after I'd walked thru the door) I thought ... alright, lets see what they want.
Anyhoo, after telling me what a great job I'd done, asking me why I'd done that event, who I'd lost to cancer, had I personally been diagnosed etc etc (About 10 mins of yapping) they then wanted me to sign up for a monthly Direct Debit to continue showing my support.
I just could not get the woman off the phone. I levelled with her and said that I'd done 2 x Moonwalks, a Race For Life, various local things for Breakthrough as well as being a participant in the Breakthrough longevity study for breast cancer. I also said that I didn't want to be held to a monthly commitment financially and that I would continue to support those chairites as and when my heart and/or pocket allowed.
But still she persisted.
In the end, I had to be quite sharp and sau that calls like the one she was making were actually making me feel like not supporting them in the future. In all, I was on the phone for approx 20 minutes and felt quite ruffled at the end of it all.
I appreciate they are a charity, but surely employing double glazing saleman tactics is counter-productive?
Rant #1 over.
Kinda Rant #2
Did anyone see on Sky recently that Diary Of A Herion Addict? It was truly awful to watch, harrowing, emotional - a real 60 minute rollercoaster and a true vivid account of what drugs and additction can do to a normal middle-class family. It was truly heartbreaking.
I think that the documentary should be shown in every secondary school in the UK - seeing a first-hand account of the last 2 years of someone's life, who lost their battle at the tragic age of 35, would go some ways to deterring the drug problems on our streets today.
Back in a bit.

CtD - treat yourself to a pair of heels and start practising. My feet actually hurt if I walk around in flip-flops! Heels or no shoes is the only way to go for me.
Also Cheryl, regarding the heroin docu. I didn't see it but I always said they should show Trainspotting in schools so I completely agree with you. Kids need to kow that there is nothing whatsoever glamourous about this, or any other, drugs for that matter.

CtD, totally agree with you on the calls, what a nightmare they are, I always come off the phone feeling really guilty!
RE the drugs issue, The new job is in a college and they had one of those 'frank' stands the other day, what a total waste of time and money, the kids just think its a laugh, and ask stupid questions. It was really downheartening to see the reactions, although in fairness we do not have too much of a local drugs problem as it is a very rural location, drugs and tractors dont really mix.

CtD - I watched it. I made my girlfriend watch it. The reason being i went through it myself but thankfully lived to tell the tale. The length of time i went through it was nothing compared to others, but still. It broke my heart to watch and made me realise how i lucky i was to have the support i needed. after giving up the serious stuff years ago, i still couldn't manage to know cannabis on the head but a year ago last may (on my mums birthday) was the last time i smoked it and now i don't even drink to excess. I couldn't speak while watching it and agree that it should be shown in schools everywhere.
On the subject of the Frank charity... it's now made a joke out of using the image of Frank Gallagher from Shameless on t shirts sold in shops all over the place. I'm not sure it's going to have a great effect anymore!

Afternoon folks,
I guess its lunchtime - and I have a crisp stuck in me throat.
Got out of work early today thanks to the GM that couldn't be bothered to come and visit us. Bet he wouldn't like it if we did that to him eh! Still, never mind - as it is I only had to work for 4 and a half hours on my day off instead of 6. Marvellous.
So, todays plan consists of watch buying after having mine stolen yesterday, a tad of shopping and some study.
After that I intend to get it out, get it up, do lots of nice things to it and make it all glisteny and shiny.
And if you think I mean the Christmas Tree, then you are very very wrong!

As for drugs problems. I really don't know what the answer is but I do know that it just seems to be acceptable to most of my friends kids (17-25) that drugs are not only normal but also not that dreadful. I'd go as far as to say that smoking dope is classed as less harmful than alcohol! It really depresses me. If there is any way to scare them into realzing how harmful and dangerous it is then I say go for the worst shock tactics available.

CTD #208 - I had a similar experience with a charity who I had set up a DD for. They called a few weeks ago to thank me and asked if I would consider doubling my contribution. I said I contributed to a number of carities and was happy at the level I am paying. The caller then ignored this and was trying to negotiate a figure .... in the end I just put the phone down. It actually leaves you feeling you should stop any contribution which is completely self defeating for the charity.

I find it amazing that a few people on here are allowed to be offensive (personally offensive might i add) .. and nobody is allowed to bite back ... but then when every now and again one of the majority (majority being the people who just get along with others and relax and just come on here because they've made friends or they just like a giggle) crack a joke fuelled by a bit of a pet peeve... they get terrorised for it.
There's always someone that comes on and spoils it for the rest...i'm sure i wasn;t the only one who sat here thinking "errrmmm...ok...what do i type now after that little rumble?" ...
It's for that reason that i can't be bothered anymore.
This was a laugh for me before. If i;ve not agreed with something i've voiced it as part of a 2 way conversation. Nobody should be attacked for anything they say on here, what i do disagree with is PERSONAL abuse (i've witnessed it LOADS) when somebody doesn;t agree with something.
I'm rambling now. But yeah...my point is, this place gets too much sometimes and the odd couple spoil it for the rest.
If anyone's bothered, i'll be on FB or in the B&D from now on. Toodleoo! x
P.S - Thanks for the actual friendships and nice people I've met. You all know where I'm at if you fancy a natter.
