Happy Christmas You Lot.
Went to a ...
... party last night.
It's a party that I go to every year and it's a party I always really look forward to.
There's always loads of fascinating people there to talk to and everyone always stays longer than they intend.
There was one guy there in particular last night who is a massive hero of mine,
"Why don't you go and say hello ?" said a pal, "he's a really nice guy, he won't mind."
"No thanks, that's not my style, he doesn't need me getting in his face and he's been surrounded by people all night." I replied
Five minutes later however, over the guy comes and says that it's really important to meet people you like or respect if you ever get the chance and that he was more than happy to spare me a few minutes.
He then refreshed both our drinks and regailed me about a time he had done exactly the same thing to Jimmy Stewart on Sunset Boulevard.
Included in the telling of his story was a pitch-perfect impression of the great man.
We ended up talking for ages and he turned out to be everything I ever hoped he was. How cool was that ?
I went home with a huge smile on my face, a smile I am still wearing this afternoon along with a particularly suspiciously over-flowery blouse of a shirt.
A brill party after a brill week of shows and now look here we are today with this year's Christmas ALL REQUEST FRIDAY.
Once again life has excelled itself beyond my expectations. May you all experience a bit of the same whenever and wherever you can.
And I finished my Christmas shopping today.

It must be great to meet your heroes, I just asked my kids if Brucie was going to be the surprise guest at my 40th birthday party tomorrow, but sadly my son said Mr Saturday Night can't tear himself away from the Strictly final!

Have a great Christmas big guy, I haven't been this excited about the big day for years. I think I'd be the same as you felt if I saw you at a party, in fact a few of us on here would I reckon.
'09 - no huge wishes from me, I hope it's not as sad as March '08, I hope my knees are ok but most of all I hope that we're all happy and laugh everyday.
Oh and my 40th bday party gives me a real bad hangover.....any bloggers want to come?

K. A 40th in the offing? My lovely aunt and uncle live in Norfolk and we have been meaning to head that way and stay with them for a while. A mixed combo perhaps?

I don't know. I really don't.
I want to DO stuff. You know, you come up with loads of grand plans and the year dutifully drifts by and you achieve exactly none of them. This time I want to achieve.
We are detoxing again through January and that should give us the impetus to crack on with our plans. As I've mentioned, the 3 peaks is on my list, as well as a possible new road trip, this time taking in Utah and Monument Valley.
Hey, who knows.
Right now, all I really want is exactly what I am going to get this weekend, and that is to see the people I love.
Pretty much the best Christmas present I could possibly ask for.

Meeting your heroes.
Interesting one.
I've never met anyone I would truly class as a 'hero', and I'm not really sure whether I'd want to, but I've met a few famous names and had pretty good experiences.
I'm not going down the road of 'look who I've met' - I've probably done that before on here, and it is not big or clever - but I do have a few highlights.
Cliff. Yeah, yeah, I know, but he was really down to earth and did make a nice coffee.
Rick Parfitt. Top bloke, and was happy to share a packet of ciggies with me and talk music till the cows came home.
Richard Hammond. Naturally, happy to talk cars. I think I was a bit squiffy and bored him a bit though....
Chris. Not going to harp on about this again, but the nicest bloke you could ever meet. In a sauna. Or a pub.
One other thing.
This may be a record breaking night.
I almost agree with PP on something.
No. Really.

Easily the third best Beatle, but more significantly, the worst post-Beatle.
OK. I'll give him Band On The Run, but that is about it.

Have to say I'm with PP and Matt re Thursday's guest. But the Sally Army were great. I hope to hear our local band on either Sunday or Christmas Eve - really kicks things off for me.

Cos Clint does,nt do parties, Al P does though ,no will stick with my original good guess.
I met Paul Newman at indianapolis when Nigel Mansell was racing for team Newman Hass.
Not many approached him but I went up and said I came forom the same city as Nigel, Brum,and that I worked for the company where he started work as a young bloke, Lucas in Brum.
I got to talk to him for 10 mins,and girls he was one good looking dude with the blueest eyes I,ve ever seen to this day.
The stuff going round in my head you could not believe, cool hand Luke I,m talking to ya baby.
A very soft spoken and gentle type of person the mechanics loved him.

Just had a bath, may have been a little too warm though, feeling quite light headed. Actually that might be the large glass of red wine that I took with me that's to blame.
I left Mr Debbie to take LM to bed and come down here to find them both asleep on the sofa.

Hi Bsmum. At the Animal Centre that Dad run. She helps to support the charity and has done so for years. Dad talks to her and she is doing something on tv soon to help raise money for them. First met her just after LM was born.

Hi guys, a late one from me - been out with one of my oldest and great friends - special.
CLP - wonderful show tonight - listened while getting ready - heated rollers, gin and tonic, dancing round the bed room - best fun! Will miss you and the rest of team till 2009.

Hope you and Natasha have a wonderful Christmas - this time next year, you will not be able to believe just how much your lives will have changed!
Just popping back out to the shops (I hate them) but had a quick look at the blog, will have to read it all later. Now, I don't want a squabble this close to Christmas (!), but I have to disagree with what some of you are saying about Paul McCartney. Of course, we all must have our own opinion, but for me, I think he is a genius. No More Lonely Nights is one of the most fantastic songs he wrote (totally under-rated), and my daddy loved it! And he wrote Yesterday when he was about 22 - an incredible song.
Still, each to their own. For the record, I adore John Lennon's music too, but I think some of Paul's stuff is just stunning.
"Jet" is "our song" for me and MrS!

I am ex-haust-ed!!!
Been on the go all day, did the nan visit this afternoon, called in on auntie and uncle, did ELH (UGH!!!!!!), then cooked dinner.
Mr Diva gone out for the evening to a party and I stayed behind and wrapped. And wrapped. And wrapped. Two flippin' hours of wrapping. All now under the tree, resplendent in red and gold and black.
Now sat here with lump in throat - yay Tom and Camilla! and a bottle of Pinot Grigio at my side. Lovely!
BM - sometimes I have trouble getting on FB. Keep trying and you'll get back in eventually!

Have been wrapping too. There has to be a better way than on my knees, on the floor. It hurts. A friend uses her ironing board, but can't be arsed getting it out of the cupboard. Now have bottles in bags and humungous bag of pressies for gorgeous little boys to deliver tomorrow. As well as the man in the cupboard's pressie. He's sad just now, his son has split up with his partner and he's wondering if he'll ever see his beautiful little granddaughter again. Ain't life sh**e sometimes?

Please excuse my prolonged absense, been sooooooo busy!
Friday was last day in work til 29th and had Secret Santa lunch to sort. Went really well and everyone seemed happy with their pressies so that was good! But, only had 90 mins left of work time with about 150 mins of work left to do, aaargh!
Did manage it thoug, crawled out of orifice in frazzled heap but am recovered now!
Will raise my glass of soft beverage on ThursdaY at 8pm as requested, may even jump on here!

Couldn't get on all yesterday and this morning - hence faffed about cleaning -more wrapping - more cleaning - bathroom this time - hmmm nice clean bath - will have a bubbly soak - just get in - and Mr B up to elbows in smelly tropical fish tank - (yuk!) - visitors! Now if I could have seen my messages on fb last night!!!! grrrr
May happen to any of you at any time apparently - something to do with this worm - any road up - Mr B sat down - 15 mins - sorted - smarty pants!

at work today dispite the whiplash - that is what painkillers are for - but not really in the mood as it is the one sensible day between my birthday weekend and my birthday day
Sat - went out on the town with my sisters and s-i-l to be - great time - drank far too many cocktails and had bad head in morning
sun - slow start but went for lunch with mr bp only to find all my friends there - some from very far away - very spoiled bagpuss
and then tuesday - the actual day - going to london to be spoiled even more
its not even a big birthday :-)

Good morning fellow workers, bloggers from home and lurkers.
I had an interesting time over the weekend - first my computer decided that Explorer shouldn't be used and made me use firefox for everything - no big deal but must work out why IE no longer working - probably my firewall playing around again.
Have just a couple of late lady deliveries until first party of new year on 10th Jan - woooohoo.
Went to the stables for Clip Clop Idol show - the kids did really well and it was a fun evening.
Had my cousin and son over for pizza and wine (that's my cousin and myself on the wine by the way - just in case you're thinking we're bad people) then they stayed overnight and helped put up the tree and some decorations. Still haven't done the porch lights or front window at present. I have to put new clips up since I had the windows and porch windows all changed this year.
The cats have avoided the christmas tree - one sits right by it but doesn't touch it - really strange animal considering when I was out refilling the bird feeders he was up the cherry tree above my head. Had a wonderful bird visitor this weekend a great spotted woodpecker - black and white with a splash of red - fab.
Well this is getting long so hope everyone is doing what they want, when they want and is having a great time doing it.

happy birthday for tomorrow. And enjoy the compensation. I got 3 grand when a chap drove into the side of my car. OK, it took about 18 months to get it, but I tend to find these little 'bonuses' come at the right time.
And I didn't lose any work time or pay, just for the inconvenience of the pain. Oh, and the damage it did to my sex life!

Well.
This is all turning out rather splendidly.
Of course, Saturday was a triumph, on many levels. Had a terrific day with pa, and the boys did us proud. We were front row, so we were within spitting distance (literally on the odd occasion) from our heroes. Fab way to head towards Christmas. Who's next? Ah, Gingembre, your boys. Bring 'em on!
Did the rounds yesterday, and everyone is fine. Presents duly delivered, way too many mince pies consumed. We're not even there yet and I feel like I've put a stone on. Note to self: serious gym work required in new year.
Supermarket shopping today and a long walk in the woods. We are both in the office tomorrow, but in the evening we have a night with Paul Jones (yes, that Paul Jones) and some 'famous friends' in Cranleigh. He has his blues band on and is promising, as he does every Christmas, to wheel on some of his muso buddies. Now, a certain Mr Clapton lives just up the road......
Then, Christmas Eve. Again, in the office, before sneaking away a touch early. Mrs MfR is picking up mum of MfR and so it all begins.
Christmas morning sees us in the local for midday. They have a Christmas tradition that a horse walks through the pub at midday on Christmas Day. Why? There is an ancient bridleway that passes through the pub, and an old byelaw states that to keep a bridleway open a horse must pass along it twice a year. So, on Christmas Day the horse walks through, turns around, and walks back whence he came.
Heck, I love this time of year.
Boxing Day morning sees me and number one mate heading down to Arundel to swim in the open air pool. Yeah, yeah, I know, but it seemed a good idea when we agreed to it in July.......
I hope you all have a wonderful, wonderful time. I'll pop in from time to time to make sure everyone is behaving themselves. Will there be a CEWC? I'm there will.

1) meeting your heros - I have met my hero twice (ted simon) and the second time he remembered me - that gave me a lift
Have also met semi famous people (ewan mc etc) and liked the fact that ed byrne also remembered me (I obviously am quite rememberable)
2) the JL vs PM debate - if John had lived longer would he have produced dross - look at revolution No 9 for him at his worst
Paul mc has produced good stuff recently - too much rain from his album chaos and creating in the backyard as an example

You are right, post-Beatles JL did go downhill, but the cruel irony is that he had just rediscovered his touch when he was taken from us.
PM, on the other hand, was on fire at first (BOTR is a great record), but apart from the odd song, for me he has churned out mostly rubbish.
However, I did quite like that Fireman thing Chris played the other night.....
Maybe that shows that PM needs a foil to work with. Left to his own devices he can't write a decent song, but with a little help (from his friends) he can knock out some crackers.

spb and MfR - I have to admit to heresy here - I happen to think the Beatles didn't always produce good stuff!
Personally I prefer the material from their early years to the hippy/drug fuelled later songs, but in my opinion the sum of the parts was very much greater than any of the individual bits.
So if they had ever worked together again maybe it would have been wonderful - but thanks to the actions of a maniac we'll never know.

Morning all those that haven't departed to a virtual world less Christmas already!
Spent the afternoon and evening yesterday in Brum.Saw Carrott's Christmas Cracker last night, have been left feeling somewhere between v. old and v. young this morning. Evening kicked off with Elkie Brooks (!) The girl can still wail, but Mrs DD said Who she?? We also had Rick Wakeman - Me in heaven, but she says Who he? Then we had UB40 minus Ali Campbell, She says No Ali's voice was UB40. We then had Escada(?) - I wish!!!! After the interval, we had Bobby Davro, doing his finest rip off of Freddie Starr, and Lee Mack - hmmm, and a super group of Rick Wakeman, Bev Bevan, Tony Iommi, singers Dave Berry & Toyah, a couple of other comedians, and finished with Roy Wood. A pleasant evening but I prob wouldn't go again.

Diva, Adebayuseless deffo deserved a second booking for the assault on the Liverpool Defender. Studs showing going over the top of the ball, and a forearm smash Mick McManus would have been proud of! You seem to be suffering from Arsene's Myopia.

CtD - I'd say Martin K deffo counts. Good player - even if not for my preferred team.
I've never met any of my football heroes to speak to, and am very shy about approaching people who I see in the street, but I did meet a number of famous politicians due to a previous job (many years ago). Some were far nicer than you'd think but some were horrible.
I never met Mrs Thatcher, which would have been interesting, but my old boss had a number of evening briefings with her during a certain 1980's national crisis and he said she always offered him a very large scotch and had one herself with no apparent effect!!

The Great Music Debate:-
It is only my opinion, and I am prepared to be shot down in flames for it but here goes .....
We all have to be open-minded and accept that everyone likes different music. I've been shot-down on here before for liking Oasis and Take That (to name but two) but then some of what's talked of on here makes me cringe - so I choose to remain quiet on the subject (for once!!)
We recently went out for drinks with a mate whose relationship was suffering. He said one of the main problems was their different music tastes. He then went on to say he thought he had a very varied ear when it came to music. Mr Diva looked him in the eye and challenged that, with the words "Are You Sure" and after some consideration, said friend admitted he had very narrow minded taste and yes, he probably was at fault and much too picky. As a result, his relationship was suffering - because one wants to play heavy metal and nowt else, whilse the other just likes "pop pap" (his words, not mine).
So, live and let live. No artist produces solid gold material for their entire lives (no super_baggy - not even Blur, they have, IMO, had their iffy moments!)

Ooh - a divided footballing family! My husband hates the game so we have no rivalry at all and he just rolls his eyes in mock despair when I go on about it with other friends!
One of the reasons I haven't met my heroes is that I tend to do that thing of seeing someone walk by, thinking "he looks quite familiar" and about 2 minutes later realise who it was. Even did that with Gary Mabbutt in Piccadilly Circus when he was our captain. Doh!

Music, well, I have my taste and Errol has his, and they sometimes match but rarely. But we put up with it, or take the mickey - but its all light hearted. I have never understood the appeal of The Beatles or Elvis for that matter. Or Abba. Sure there are a few songs that I enjoy, but the hysteria that went with them somehow seemed ott.

As for the music thing..GM and i are 9yrs(and 1 day to be precise!) apart in age and it tells with music! i would have laughed at you 2 yrs ago if u had said i`d be going to see AC/DC in concert and i think GM is still embarrassed by my dragging him to a Mika concert..
..but a little bit of what you like, and openmindedness of other peoples choices is great..and i have discovered music i never knew was out there..fantastic. (although i`m still not convinced GM would agree about his newly discovered `like` of They Might Be Giants!).

I'm now debating with myself whether to stroll into town at lunchtime (approx 20 mins each way) or whether to leave it til 9am tomorrow when I get off the bus (no car tomorrow - drinks after work courtesy of The Management).

Can I face the town centre at lunchtime for the sake of a hair thingmyjiggle. Pointless taking the car - car park queues horrific at all times of day this time of year!

I used to work with someone who did that Katie. Whenever she went on holibobs. we'd have a seemless handover of her outstanding workload, then people would ring up asking for their quotes etc, only to find she'd "stashed" everything in her draer, awaiting her return!

On the great music debate, as it can be such a personal taste thing I guess it would be rare for any two people to completely agree on all genre.
Me I worship the beatles and like everything they have ever one.
Trad jazz and hard core rap an house I dislike and thats about it .
I love classical and quite a bit of opera, I completely disagree about the comments made about Macca and his music after the Beatles however, I think he was the driving force and main contributor to their music , much as I loved John.
His song Yesterday is the most covered song in history, so other artistes must rate him very much.
His body of work since the beatles is very impressive.

That's the thing JTT - it is so personal and so stirs up very deep and strong emotions.
Criticising any artist on here - as I have been guilty of doing even though mainly in jest - risks the wrath of others even though I mean no offence to his/her/their fans and am just expressing my own opinion about an artist or a certain piece of music.
I've been ridiculed sometimes by others (not on here - I mean in the wider world) who feel that they can be really rude about my choices of music/film/TV show but won't take even the mildest criticism of their own.

Oooh, help please bloggers,... seeing all the comments RE big birthdays, I have one in May next year and was planning on a big trip abroad and a London Jaunt, due to unforeseen circumstances said trips are not possible..
So, with work being ultra quiet today I am now trawling tinterweb (under the cover of complete darkness in office with blinds drawn and door double locked) and have come up with 2 preferable options, do I.....
1. Get all friends together in Lovely Castle thingy on outskirts of Bath for big meal and bubbles for medievel (cant spell sorry!) style antics
or...
2. Fabby Big party in local pub with Tom Jones-alike singing and let them sort out somewhere to stay?

Its your birthday,so make it as simple for you as possible.
Let them sort out places to stay, eat and stuff else you'll be to bogged down making sure everyone is happy and forgetting about you. And god forbid if you forget someone, or the booking goes wrong.

Maybe think about what would be better received by your friends as well as what you want ...... let me xplain.
Remember my 40th? Well, I really wanted to do the whole London Eye champagne pod, dinner at The Ivy, late night London etc etc. BUT when I added it all up and also thought about my friends (not only their budgets, but things like child care, dining out pallette etc) the BBQ at a really good local "proper" ale pub made more sense. As it turned out, everyone had an absolute blast.
Would the medieval castle thing involve dressing in medieval costooms? Again, something I'd be well into but then lots of our friends would run a mile at the suggestion ....
Good luck - but remember, whatever you decide, provided you have your good friends with you, it will be a birthday to remember!

Seriously though..................CtD has a good point re the big b'day thing - which also applies to hen-nights. I know a few women who have felt obliged to go to some posh place for a hen weekend or for a 30/40 birthday that they couldn't really afford, because when they hesitated about going the bride/friend got upset or sulky with them
I'm sure Katie is far more sensitive than that but right now some folk who are nomally quite flush may not be - and might not want to admit to it!

CtD Dressing up is not an issue, its getting most of the men to keep their clothes on after a few bevvies is the hardest part, not a pretty sight.....!

PS. the castle thing works out at fifty squids per head for 3 nights, and I would supply the food and wine.
The pub thing would also be around that as there would be bed and breakfast involved for lots of peeps.

IMHO i dont think it matters which you choose...if its your choice, if they are both about the same price (which i think sounds v reasonable by the way) then if people want to be there for your special day then they will be...and they will sort their own accomodation/travel out etc...just have a few suggestions of places to stay handy..but let them sort it themselves! It will be your day so all you need to do it stand back,relax and enjoy it without worrying about others...
oh..and letting it drift by is definately NOT an option!

Morning/Afternoon everyone,
Freezing cold and very snowy here today. Last night the temperature was 6 degrees F, with wind chills taking it to around minus 14 degrees F..... a little on the cold side. This morning cold and windy slightly warmer with temps around 12 degrees F......

No, it's not a horror movie, it was Waitrose this morning.

Off on a slight tangent, this got me thinking about places that I had been to that had some kind of musical significance. After some thought, and parking the really tenuous ones to one side, I arrived at a top handful. And, it made me realise some of the major places I have yet to visit, notably Liverpool. Oh, and simply naming venues doesn't count unless there is a major point to it, i.e. old Wembley Stadium - Live Aid.
In no particular order.
Graceland. Even if you don't really like Elvis, this is well worth the visit. Just avoid all the tacky nonsense. You have to sing Heartbreak Hotel in bad harmonies at his grave while you are there (watch Spinal Tap if you don't know what I am talking about).
Pere Lachaise. The cemetery in Paris. Without wishing to sound ghoulish, spending a wet Sunday morning wandering around trying to find Jim Morrison was a great way to top off a weekend in the French capital. Finding him was a bit of a let down though as most of the grave has been nicked over the years and there is a security guard there stopping you taking pictures. Worth checking out Oscar while you are there though.
The old Marquee, Wardour Street. Alas, not there any more, last time I looked it was a Conran restaurant, although I believe that too may have gone. Significant to me because I saw Guns N' Roses first ever UK appearance there in the days before Axl disappeared up his own backside, but you could almost smell, feel and hear the rock history in there. Hendrix, the Stones, Zeppelin, Bowie, they all played there. I missed Hendrix unfortunately, mostly because he died nine days after I was born. Git.

derbyfi - we've had lotty lotment for 4 years now. the highlight of my year is having home-grown veg on our christmas plate.

nope - but with the huge ones I break the 'arms' off and eat each one in turn.
I have to say that I'm also with all you cheese lovers - don't like blue/green ones but I adore my local deli's Wensleydale and cranberry - just now and again it makes a very nice change.
But that requires totally different crackers from a Red Leicester or D Gloucester for example - and Brie or Camembert is something different again - it's all very complex!

Fave cheeses: Mexicana, Dolcelata (sp?), Stilton, brie and of course a really strong off the Richter scale cheddar.
With nice preserves too - caramelised red onion chutney, for example.
And those mini hovis crackers that look like ickle loaves.

evening all, hope you're well?
busy weekend, went to the panto on Sat night (oh yes we did) and then off to LaplandUK.
Now, someone on here was asking about best ever Chrimbos/Chrimbo gifts, well I have just had mine....it was awesome. I was truly amazed by how brilliant is was, I lost count of the times I welled up with emotion as the kids turned another magical corner. The ankle-biters loved it, so the did the parents......and the grandparents! Best day out I've ever had I think.
Haven't had time to read all the posts, I'm back to work tomorrow but will try to pop in before Thurs.

Christmas nosh chez MfR?
Well, the main event will consist of mushroom and cashewnut roast, spuds (see below for details), sprouts (yep, spent 25 years convinced they were the devil's work, now love 'em) with a crispy breadcrumb and almond topping, snips, carrots and the world's best roasted onion gravy. All washed down with a pinot noir from the Wither Hills winery in NZ. We picked up on this brand at The M as it their sauvignon blanc of choice. You can get it at the aforementioned Wai****e, the SB is awesome, the PN is to die for, but a bit more expensive.
Now, those spuds.
I nicked this from Delia and it is well worth doing.
When you are parboiling your spuds before roasting, crush some saffron into a powder and drop it in the water. A pinch is enough. Chuck a bit more of your saffron powder into the oil and roast as normal. You get just the subtlest hint of the saffron flavour, but it transforms the humble roast spud.
Needless to say, there will be cheese later. I'm a sucker for a mature cheddar and something blue, probably stilton, with a nice port, or madeira. Unusual, but it works.

It’s great to meet great people and I am lucky to know Dave Hancock, an old mate off mine who has given up his Christmas and New Year to walk for Charity. This makes you realise that Christmas is more about giving of yourself for others that giving presents, though these are always great to give and receive.
Dave says " I'll be walking the Upriver (non-tidal) Thames Path from Richmond Lock to Godstow Lock (just north of Oxford) over the Xmas and New Year period. I'll start at Richmond on Sun 21st Dec, am aiming to reach Henley (half-way) by Xmas, and will walk from Henley to Godstow over 4 days between Xmas and New Year.
I'm doing this to raise money for NRAS - the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society. NRAS provides support for sufferers of Rheumatoid Arthritis and campaigns for the best treatments and care. It costs NRAS about £50,000 just to operate the helpline service each year.
NRAS is the only patient-led charity in the UK specifically for people with rheumatoid arthritis, their families and carers. There is no known cure for this chronic, long-term disease. It affects nearly half a million people in the UK. Some 12,000 are children under the age of 16.
Dave does lots for the community and local clubs but over Christmas and New Year as well “what a sacrifice is that!” Is this the real example of Christmas we may have forgotten?

How long have you lived 'Stateside' bondy? One of my daughters has a Californian pal who has also lived in New Zealand, South Africa and over here - linked to her Dad's job. I guess its a double edged sword really as I have been contacted by some old friends I was delighted to hear from.

Hi everyone, I'm back at work having had proper wobbly flu. Was proper wobbly too! The kind taxi driver who collected me from work last week ended up having to escort me to my front door...I was tipping up all over the place...all in all turtley BLEURGH!!
I've missed you all, and I've missed Christophe too...dammit! I've also missed four lovely parties and a Carol Mass...but hey, when you can't remain upright for longer than about 3 secs it ain't really worth going out.
Anyhoo, probably won't be able to get on here again as I've got seventy trillion emails (apparently if I order some blue pills I can stay up all night, which might be useful for Midnight Mass tomorrow eve...whaddya think?) and loads of post and other malarkey.

Goodness only knows what Mr Diva will think upon arriving home to begin his Christmas holibobs this afternoon.
You see, I decided that as it's the last day of term, and Christmas at that, some glitter make-up enhancement was called for.
Well, tricky little substance it is to work with, speshly at silly o'clock in the morning when it's still dark outside and the cat is still curled up asleep on the bed.
When I left the Diva Boudoir at half past silly o'clock to go fetch bus, said boudoir resembled a Top of The Pops dressing room, circa 1973. It truly looked like Noddy, Marc and that Wizzard fella had had some kind of glitter spat ......

....and, in particular, Cheryl - thank you for the Xmas wishes. You knew i was lurking! I was barely aware myself. I've had even less time to even lurk of late never mind join in. I've been trying to keep up with the goings on around here but i should know by now that to try and keep up (without Hazel's blue pills) is a tall order. So I'm sorry for not saying something insightful and up to date - I just hope you have a lovely crimble 'oliday and you get all you want....and you get the pressies you want from Santa too!

Morning/afternoon everyone.
Last day in the office for me today, then off until Jan 5th yay!!!!!!! Will most definitely be online and on blog (have laptop will blog etc.). Office party this afternoon. Quite the sedate affair. Cake, nibbles, non-alcoholic drinks..... gift exchange.....
Another cold day today, but no snow so far, but some expected later today and tomorrow......

I am so glad I am not vegetanarium. My brother is and my mum became vegetanarium about 6 months ago.
I have trapsed, nay - trawled 4 (yes, 4! count 'em!) ordinarymarkets today trying to get sumit a bit spesh for the vegetanariums, but there is not a (meat free) sausage to be had, nor a nut roast, nor a Linda Turkey, nor nuffin. No stuffed stuff neither.
I had the option of toad in the hole or a bean burger.

Sounds like you work with a tough group. I'll be handing out plates of xmas cookies and small gifts to folks here later today. What's weird is that I like doing that but feel really awkward when people do it to me. I normally hand out the "tokens of appreciation" as I call them, on my last day before the holiday, so folks don't have time to reciprocate.

Annie, that is what I really do miss about Christmas in all honesty.
As a child I had the most wonderful of times as well.
I love Christmas but the past can never be replicated and their is that sort of void .

I've had some rough times this year, beginning back in January when I carelessly lost my job.
Thanks to each and every one of you on here - the regulars, the sporadics, the lurkers, my 7 sisters (you know who you are) and CLP and the team for always managing to make me smile when the going gets tough.
OK, so there have been tears along the way to, but I would truly be lost without this amazing blog and every single contributor to its success.
The meet at Docklands in September was one of my 2008 highlights, and I truly look forward to more of the same in 2009.

Right, have eaten, so far today, toast for breakfast, egg roll mid morning, just finished vegetable soup followed by salmon and broccoli bake with roast potatoes! I'll open my eyes one of these mornings and I'll have exploded over the walls.
We are surrounded by boxes of biscuits and choccies in here, given to us by grateful clients and families. Will have to have a New Year's resolution.

Still loads to do, getting there slowly.
Mr Debbie took LM to a Christmas Party at his work this morning. The Underground driver let LM look inside the front of the train, showed him how he drives it.....not sure who was most excited LM or Daddy.
Just waiting for them to get back to be informed that they have gone for a boat ride on the Thames.
Glad that they are having a good day, need their bums back here now though, things to do, people to see........!

Ah, finished for a whole 2 days.
6am start, supposed to finish at 3.15. Managed to get away by 4.15. Cracking!
Enjoyed my day though, as kept picturing hamster shaped parcels with little legs poking out the bottom scurrying around the shop, with big red bows on the top.
It is rather odd in my mind.
Anyway, returned home to the sad news that one of my cats died this morning. Looks like a heart attack, and he went quickly. Collapsed, twitched then gone.
18 years old, so not too surprising, but still rather sad. My fault for bragging about having an excellent year I guess.
