Alright never mind all that. I arrive in work and suddenly I feel a smile coming on as I receive an invite from Uncle Wilco to judge The Shed of the Year comp 2009. My, Uncle Wilco I would be delighted. Put me down.
Other highlights this afternoon:- Christmas tubes of fruit pastilles are down to a pound and Cadbury's chocolate fingers are two for one ! Result, the team shall eat well during the show tonight !!!!!!!!!!

dook - in answer to the weirdest prezzy Q from the previous blog ..... I bought a DVD for Mr Diva a couple of years ago called Ready Teddy Death. It's numerous ways to "kill" teddy bears - very inventive but also very very funny.

Chris there is nowt wrong with being a little do lally every now and again. I'm in my thirties and still just HAVE to build a snowman, and make snow angels when the weather permits. Also make funny faces and do funny things to Mr. Egg when he's on the phone to someone serious! Oh and not forgetting trying to tickle Grandad Egg's feet despite him being in his Sixties and 6 ft 2, and then there is the nudging game between and my brother (V. Late 30s) at Christmas table........
....... think I'm confusing do lally with childishness - but I don't care.

Fruit pastilles and chocolate fingers, what a combination. Sounds like an Xmas stocking from years gone by. And, maybe, if I'm good, Santa might oblige this year!
Still, ProblemPresents team is living on Halls Soothers, which is not quite as appealing! Perhaps I could tell myself fruit pastilles are medicinal and get some delivered in!

Most stylish........? Nope mine deffo wouldn't win that.
Most jam-packed, nay overcrowded..........? Might be in with a chance there.
Most creatively decorated - the bloggers virtual shed must be a winner there. I gather the scatter cushions are a wonder to behold. Not too sure about all the flip-flops and snorkels that keep appearing on Saturday mornings though - and as for that very large wetsuit...............

I remember my mum waking me up on 9th December 1980 and Imagine was on the radio, then she told me he'd been murdered in New York.
I've still got every English newspaper from that day in a bag in the loft - it was such an emotional time, and I was only 12.

...ah, The Shed of the Year...what dizzying heights you have reached, Christophe...
My only criteria (and it is one that I suggest you take on board) for a shed, is that it smells of creosote. And you can stay in there as long as you like. Or until you have to go in for your tea because you're 7 and your mum doesn't know where you are all afternoon.

With regard to the internal decor of said shed...am totally bereft that that finest of all pokey-abouty knicknack little boxes and all sorts of gawjus things shop, The Pier, is closing down.
Am also bereft that I cannot currently afford to purchase said pokey-abouty gawjus things.
The Christmas window display is a sight to behold, indeed with scatter cushions and multi baubled trees...a wondrous beauty it is...and it's all going...

I well remember drivin' to an important fitting in London in me best cream cashmere coat, lookin' gorgeous, stylish and yet just a little approachable. With a raspberry one stuck to me right buttock.

Its funny isn't it........ my mum (Granny Egg) was/is a beatles fan, my dad (Grandad Egg) was/is more of a Stones (or classic!) man. My cousin (Tiny Spark - Alaska) and his mum are HUGE beatles fans and at a recent impromtu gig he did a beatles medely - me and dad sat there looking at each other rather blankly whilst Mum, Brother, Aunty and Cousin gave it absolute laldy.
yeah I know the popular beatles toons but sorry they don't really "do" anything for me - folks rave about them but - nup - nothing from me.......Queen however is just ANOTHER story........

In response to the "shed" I must point out that in MY defence (and that of Bondy's) That all we did was partition it and add two giant plasma's the rest was done by you women. I must also point that it was YOU lot that stuck me in the naughty shed for so long that i was bound to add a personal touch here and there. As far as the scatter cushions and decor go it was nothing to do with me. that was indeed Bondy who did all that malarky. In regards to the fungi schway that was done that was also done without mine or Bondy's approval (if indeed it's not just a load of oriental claptrap)
On a sour note the council have told us that the hotbub must go as we didn't have planning permission for an Olympic sized swimming pool. I have tried to tell them that is was hottub but they aint having none of it. I have to appeal direct to the head of planning he's coming here in the next few weeks so i need you girls to "butter" him up somewhat so everyone best on their best behaviour (sp?) then we might stand a chance of keeping it.

Thanks for your kind words derbyfi... but 2008 for me has just been the final straw... it's been the year from hell for me and the accumilation of many years were finally something has changed deep inside me....

The way I am at the mo all is.... yer know that Annie Lennox tune/ Eurthymics tune were the words go... Bingo - in that case do something completely different - volunteer at an archeaological dig, help out at a soup kitchen, take an elderly neighbours dog for a walk. I changed my job - completely - a bit drastic but i found someone by doing it.
Don't go into things with a predetermined outcome in mind.

Bingo - as my last word on this one, I think dook has a good point at #51.
A pal of mine had a nasty divorce and then a very painful broken romance with a man she thought was her new true love - then she tried internet dating etc but it didn't work out for her, so she decided to stop looking for a man for a while and took up a couple of new hobbies and active pursuits instead, doing things with her other friends.
She is now much happier, and mentally is in a better place to take advantage of a new relationship as and when it happens - as I'm sure it will one day.
Fate has an odd way of presenting these things when we least expect them and we're looking the other way. That's what I think anyway, from my own experience.

Just popping in quickly to give Bingo a great big huggle and mwah! I do know how you feel hon, and have to say that it was when I'd given up completely and utterly that love smacked me in the face! I almost lost him too yet look at us now, 7 years married and 2 beautiful girls.
And it was through voluntary youth work that I met him - we had the same ideas, morals, notions, etc. So I second what has been so eloquently said prior to this, might be an idea to find something social to do, who knows who will fall into your lap.

Bond, glad you had a good weekend. Mine was sh**e. Spent Thursday and Friday in bed with Bingo's cold, went to work for a fundraiser on Saturday morning and then mumped all day Sunday.
Just a grumpy old woman. Cold gone now though and I'm back to my usual sunny/grumpy self.

Tiggs - I read about Freddie's anniversary in the paper but agree it would appear to have been overlooked. Sad really - and hard to believe it was 17 years ago.
I woke up in a very pensive mood this morning, an hour before the alarm, so lay there thinking about 2008, it's highs and lows.
In the main, this has been a really great year for me. I've seen some great concerts (inc The Cure, Bruce Springsteen, Oasis) and made some fantastic new friends (namely - yous lot!) I started my job in February and for the first time in many years it feels "right" and I'm thinking that maybe, just maybe, I'll stick with this one for more than 12 months!
2008 was also the year I discovered me. Sounds odd, I know, but I can honestly say that this was the year I became happy in my own skin and accepted myself for who I am and the woman I am going to be. My confidence levels are high - I believe this to be because I am content with my lot.
I can probably count the lows on one hand, but undoubtedly my nadir of 2008 was having a bad back during the early summer.
So, my question of the day to you, the lovely bloggers of CLP's Drivetime Blog, is ..... what are your Top 3 highlights of 2008.
Mine would be (in no particular order!) ...
1. Turning 40: a landmark birthday that lasted about 8 days. Many celebrations, gatherings etc and of course, all the lovely flowers and chocs and cards from yous lot.
2. Emirates Stadium Tour in August, and meeting Arsenal legend Charlie George. A true gent. My lovely late dad would have been oh so proud of his little girl.
3. Meeting Mariella and Errol. From that first rather tentative meeting (again linked to a visit to The Emirates), then a wonderful evening in August seeing the sights of Kettering and shooting some pool and again at the bloggers meet in Docklands. I sincerely hope (and believe) that this is a friendship that will last and many more good times will be had in the future. And MW,a! - I will catch you up with an ARF Hatrick one day!!

Isn't it funny, I have never done anything like blogging before this, and had never joined any sites like FB etc. But now that I have, I feel that I really know all the regulars on this blog. For instance, the minute I heard Barry Manilow on Saturday Night on SCD the first person I thought of was Cheryl, and this morning on Sarah Kennedy's show when I heard of the death of Oliver Postgate, the first person I thought of was Super BP. I must admit, my colleague thinks people like us are really "sad" and should get out more and meet real people, but the whole point is you are all real people just like me enjoying each other's company.

Watching dolphins chase our boat in the Galapagos during nighttime - leaving a glowing trail of luminous plankton behind them. (in fact, the whole galapagos trip really, but that was just one of the many highlights).
Teaching Errol to ski, and collapsing in a heap while laughing at some of his classic falls.
Seeing Muse at V fest.
Errols face on the balloon trip, full of wonder and amazement, big smiles and teary eyes.
Its been such an excellent year,and there are many more highlights - such as meeting Cheryl and other bloggers, best friends wedding, trip to Estonia and many more. I just feel bad now that CtD is not on the top 5, but you are number 6 loverly lady xxx

Chris - great blog as usual, with equally great replies folks.
Bingo - what can I add that hasn't already been said? You light up this page most days, have kind words for all when down and I truly hope you find happiness in '09. I too am having a really rough time (at work) currently, won't go into it on here as lurkers are everywhere, but I feel for someone who just cannot wait for an upturn in luck. I think life is not for pre-determing so just go with the flow mate and you never know what's around the corner. I'll always remember walking into a pub in Norfolk really down, not knowing where life would take me and there sat the current MrsW...literally took my breath away and her personalilty matched her amazing beauty. It just creeps up on you buddy. Good luck x

1. finally getting the ol' knees sorted and fingers crossed I am injury free.

MW,a! - I put meeting you and Errol in my top 3 because as you've probably gathered, Mr Diva can be rather shy and reserved on meeting new people (he had his reservations about our first meeting in fact). The reason it means so much is that all four of us get on famously - I'd even go so far as saying you feel like "old friends" now, even tho we've only met on a handful of occassions.
As much as I hope there will be other bloggers meets in 2009, I will probably go to those on my own as Mr Diva doesn't really "get" this whole blogging thing.

Highlights/Memorable Moments 2008.
1) My Son moved out in July of this year into his own Flat, he has been with me since he was 6 years old.
Having never lived alone before though this would be a real lowlight,but as much as I love my Boy and still see a lot of him,I,m just loving it on my own,is that selfish though. Robert is 21 now.
2) Work has been absolutely blinding this year and although I have not been away on holiday this year, it has been worth it.
I have a great job and love the whole deal.
3) I have met a lot of new friends this year both professionally and socially, of course present company included.

Highlights of 2008
1. My 40th, the day after Cheryl's, and like hers it lasted for days. Great time with friends and family and I was spoilt rotten on the present front.
2. Losing two and a half stone in weight, wanted to be Fab and 40 and I think I just about achieved it. Never felt better health wise and I still eat chocolate and crisps!
3. Being blessed with lovely friends and family. Spending time laughing with people I love is always a highlight for me. Also finally joining the blog was a big step in the right direction.
A few low lights, but my glass is always half full.

*aaaahhh* a few quiet moments to catch up.
Bingo, I missed all the trauma but I have an inkling as to what might have happened. Big hugs to you, fella. You brighten this board up with your posts, don't go changing :) There will be someone who finds they like you just the way you are, nutty as ever, and as everyone else has said you don't need to go searching - just get out and live life and love will find you.

1. Moving house; stressful and paint-fumey but so worth it now that we're in and sorted.
2. Visiting Glasgow; what a brilliant city! Could happily live there at some point.
3. Spurs winning the Carling Cup by knocking out Chelsea via whooping Arsenal 5-1 (soz CtD and MW,a!)

3) A lovely two weeks on holiday with my best beloved. It rained most days but we didn't care because we were away together and not working.

I didn't expect so many ter even notice me commentations yesterdee, let alone comment on them - you all are truely a nice bunch of bloggers!!!!!
I know sometimes life becomes difficult for everyone at times, it just lately for me, it's not just been this year but the past few years ave been a continual set of bad things for me. This year a kept me chin up and even went ter Ukraine ter try and find 'appiness but even that went wrong.
I met so many nice ladies in Ukraine but for some reason went for the wrong one.
Plus this year ave lost a fortune on the stockmarket even though a know all about the economy going down. It's just every move ave made 'as been dogged with bad luck - ave seen all me 'ard work and dreams financially disappear aswell too, aswell as the love thing going wrong.
Any way don't wanter start talkin about it again, I must be boring people and am sort of boring meself!!
'opefully 2009 will be better for everyone!!!!

PS Me flu is 95% better all!!!!!
The accupunture did work... she gave me a boost ter me antibodies last week and although a goot worse the day after me acc... a did suddenly get better fast... so a think it does work the acc!!!!!
A mean flu can last for two weeks but the fact mine lasted bad for 3 ter 4 days then suddenly got better fast shows the acc works!!!!
PS A did ave flu noot a cold as during a cold yer don't ave severe fever, trembling, all over chills, dizzyness etc... so it was flu and noot a cold... but a don't want sympathy!!!!!

I remember at the start of the year many astrologers saying 2008 is going to be a very big year for capricorns (i know your one too super B) but me being the eternal optimist though his mean't a good 2008!!!!

Right, lunchtime over. 3.5 hours to go ......
Went to Sainsbugs at lunchtime and I have to say it was a rather pleasurable experience for a supermarket, this close to christmas and at lunchtime.
Managed to pad round at my own pace, get everything I wanted (and more - ouch!) and there was no queue at the tills. And I got parked really easy.
Christmas shopping now officially DONE!
So that just leaves the bloomin' wrapping - grrrrrrrr!!!!!

Morning/Afternoon everyone, Hope the day is going well for all of you. Cold start to the day here (20 degrees Fahrenheit) but not a cold as it was yesterday. Freezing rain and snow last night made the roads very slick this morning but the snow tyres did their job.... Tomorrow we are supposed to have more snow and temperatures plummet to the single digits overnight......

Anyway. I reckon they're twins, the result of some horrifying cloning experiment involving Reg Holdsworth and some hallucinogenic drugs.
So. Highs and lows. I haveta say I'm one of the Half Full camp but with a good old dose of scepticism.
The polar opposite of my old-school farmer ex-father-in-law, who, during the bumper harvest that was the summer of '76, somebody commented that he was quids in and must be delighted.
Standing in front of the barn, stuffed to the ginnels, he retorted,

Another grey day here, and a bit nippy.
Highs of the year.
1) marrying my man
2) moving to the States (although many elements of this would be included in lows as well)
3) Having my 2 closest friends visit as a surprise for my 30th birthday
Still feeling a little ill from the thought of Sue Pollard and Timmy Mallet. *shudder*
I have also submitted my crackers, and a festive fox the fox, so will be listening with baited breath now!.... where does that saying come from? any ideas? it's one of those weird sayings that are always around and yet I have no idea where it comes from and what it actually means!

Oi Stop having a go at Timmy Mallet we all loved him at one time - what changed? did he do something illegal? No! did he say something that offended a nation? No!
