Good afternoon one and all,
It's great news and I am pleased to say that on my 100 mile round trip commute I have had the pleasure for the last two days of heairng Sir Tel and Aled once on my way in and once on my way home. It is the perfect start and end to the day, especially in an economic climate where if I haven't got too much work to do, I panic that it's all going to go bust. The song reminds me of what it's all about and this christmas will raise the spirits of the whole country.
Looking forward to seeing the video, maybe Sir Tel could do a dance like on CIN on friday? Maybe not with Aled as his partner?
For ARF - Wouldn't it be nice by the Beach Boys - uplifting and jovial and a great start to the weekend

It is great news about the single (or Quadratic B-side as you put last night). Well done you, Aled, and everyone else. I hope you don't mind my having a little Homer style "Wohoo!" to celebrate. Craziness in the right form is a welcome oasis in the harsh desert of everyday life for many people. With so many rules, restrictions, and control over what we can and can't do, it's very rewarding to feel being just a tiny part of "the something" that will make a difference to others.

Arfternoon everypeeps!
Glad everyone has so many good ideas for ARF I'll be happy to just catch the show (it's been a bad week for getting my CLP fix).
Let me share a small story with you about a lovely Audi technician who took me to put some fuel in the courtesy car that they'd so kindly offered me while they sorted out my brakes. We drove up to the garage where he fuelled up the replacement diesel A4 for me, we swapped places so that I could drop him off and set off back to the traffic lights and I dropped him off... the car stalled and wouldn't start! He looked back... his face drained... he came back over the road and his face started to re-fuel itself with a bright shade of crimson...
"Oh bugger!" he said to me through the window "I don't beleive what I've just done"
"What is it?" says me
"I've only just gone and filled it with petrol!" says he...
It was a 2litre TDI!!!!!
We had to get someone to help puch it back to the garage so they could give me another car.
How much mickey taking has he had? Well all I can say is that when I got to pick my own car back up today he was still the same shade of crimson, had had umpteen sarcastic text messages and there was a bouquet of flowers waiting for me as an apology. Good old Audi!

Dook - why are all the LPG pumps out in the flippin open -
refuse to use Mr B's car cos I either get soaked or break all me nails getting that darn nozzle thing on - and then you have to stand there with your thumb on the button until it's full and then when you take the nozzle off you get a quick dose of frozen stuff in your mush! humph!

Our local LPG supplier has a canopy over their tank and I was adviced when we bought the truck to always wear gloves when taking the noozle off as you may get cold burns from the bit of pressurised gas that escapes when you release it. Up Side 1/2 cost of Petrol!!!

Since the price of Oil hit $150 a barrel in July and petrol was in this country (UK) around £5.70 a gall (UK) It has since dropped to less than $50 a barrel (but the $ exhchange rate has gone down at same time) we are now paying on ave around £4.49 a gall (UK) the maths do not work out as we're still paying just under a third more than we should be due to the price :(

SJF, isn't there an extra litre in the US gallon....? Prices here have dropped but a lot depends on where you live. Where I work, petrol or gas as they call it here, is about 30 cents a gallon more expensive.

Thanks guys. But I did ask her if she would still consider me to work 5 days 9.30am to 2.30pm and she said no.
You're right you know, they want mums to go back to work but it's bloody hard to find anything part-time.
I don't want to give half my wages up paying a child minder and I still want to 'be a mum' and take my son to school and pick him up.
Given that I am unlikely to have another child this is particularly important to me.

As for NYD v SP
I think the Pistols win hands down, Not heard THAT much by NYD to be honest and what i have heard i'm not really that keen on. The Germs i've never heard of or if i have then i've forgotten them. The Ramones were good for catchy bouncy stuff and i like most of their stuff. I must be honest and say i've only heard ONE LP by Jimmy P and the boys and thats only cos i've got it on vinyl. My credible punk outfit of choice would have to be i suppose EITHER The Stranglers or SLF (prefer SLF if i am honest) Been to see both several times although not in the last 10 years and certainly not when they was at their prime either :( I was a tad too young in late 70's as i wasn't 15 until '80. I am most impressed with the lyrics of SLF and the passion although Hugh and the boys were more polished (my mate's brother used to work at Shepperton Studios and also worked with The Jam)
I also like most things with a decent bass line and good hi-hat drums.
I could i suppose also point out that i like some OI ie Cockney Rejects and the ilk.
I'm detirmed (sp? i've tried about 15 time to spell that correctly but gave up in the end) to get Chris to play something that's NOT on MP3 which is why some of my choices may seem off the wall sometimes :-D
The reason for that being that most of the stuff i like doesn't come in MP3 format although i did convert some of my vinyl to that format.

aww, thanks. I'll just sit here looking priddy while yous have yer chat. I missed the footy last night, fell asleep on Errols lap, but got woken 3 times. Twice by lots of cheering and not quite, but nearly leaping out out of the chair, and once by a stream of profanity longer than the Nile! I guess that was the German goal.

Bond, things are good.
We have the fire going, some intelligent TV on about Egypt, have enjoyed a fish and chip supper and now spending time with some good company on the blog.
Errol got his first paycheck today, and got nearly 800 squids more than we were expecting, so thats the skiing holibob paid off, a big bunch - sorry, bouquet - of flowers for me and several bills less scary.

CLP and Tash, I'm so sorry to hear about Enzo, but as many others have said he had all the love and care you could give him, lucky boy.
Have loved the El Tel/Aled campaign, am already a proud owner of the Bandaged CD, thanks to the packing and posting power of the wonderfully speedy TOGS but will definitely get the single too.
Have also loved hearing the bloggers in the mornings, BerylAnn Boyd must be snowed under with your emails and texts - brilliant!!

Never really 'got' the Evans Effect. Is he getting older, or am I getting younger?! I find myself able to cope with more than 5 minutes at a time, and even enjoying it more often than not. Now I understand why: going for "everyone laughs" instead of "we laugh at today's target". I hope it continues to bring success for Chris; even if it doesn't, I hope it allows him to be happier overall. I shall continue to tune in from time to time, and now for pleasure rather than to see if it's still too loud to listen!

So, having had a day that consisted of a large session at the gym and an equally large session at the pub, I'm off to bed.

Evening all! Just a quick leap over the fence (used the neighbour's trampoline!) to show face! I'll need to mull over CLP's words and catch up with the blethers in a whiley!
We went to the lights being switched on in the city tonight. Hmmm ... it was a laugh! The male Gospel choir were fantastic .... the male compaire (sp) was, ummmm, hmmmm! .... the light projection show on the Town House was brilliant ... the ladies choir was, um, well, one lady had the mike and the others didn't get a look in! Santa was a huge hit with the wee lass and her pal DN, who danced crazily together - the Limpet wouldn't stay in her pram despite the rain!! The lights look beautiful!
Then our pal, MN, and I and the kids went for a coffee and hubby went to late opening ... and bought 3 beautiful outfits for his 3 beautiful girls! Can't believe the gorgeous dress he got me! Bless!
Right, have to go the noo, back in a whiley to see if there is anyone propping up the Tikki bar, and to see what shenanigans you've been up to!!

At 38 and running like a demon every other day, I'd like to think I could party like it's 1999.
But, the truth is I'm in bed by now most nights.
Mostly lying awake - see previous for detail.
But, as you pointed out, I'm off for a day or two, and enjoying the freedom.

I am thinking about a big post about stress, sleep and life in general which I may put together tomorrow, based upon my experiences.

have just caught up on the earlier postings on the last blog, and am gonna return briefly to the Q of the day.
1st job - lab techy at Weetabix. Testing all he raw materials, checking iron levels and the like. If you read the Nutritional Data on your cereal box, then several years ago that was me doing all those tests!
Best job - Promotions girly. 3 years with the british touring cars, 2 with Alfa, and 1 with renault. Also doing the motor show, Live shows and stuff like that. Excellent pay, interesting people and to top it all off, dinner with Murray Walker! Also been an artists model, which is fab - being paid to sit still and look priddy -though slightly strange when the artist phones you to say the 8 foot high painting of you has been sold and some chap in America has my picture on his wall....

Usually I sleep like the dead but now and again when something is troubling me I get that drop off, get a fitful hour or so and then lie wide awake throughout the wee small hours syndrome - only to drop off again 1/2 hour before the alarm goes off!
Things always look so much bleaker at 4am, don't you find?

Used to "walk out" with a chappie from Wigan many moons ago! Yes, I know they have a new one out, but I've gone for this one because at 9.57am, on Wednesday 1st October, Ken Bruce was playing it on his show. At that precise moment the Limpet was delivered (3 1/2 wks early) by an amazing team, led by Dr Herd, of doctors, nurses, midwives and anaesthetists!
She is now 7 weeks old ... and because of her I get to have late night sessions with the dear bloggers and blogettes! And, after all, she is famous now ... not only did you give her a mention on the Hump Day of her birth, but Sir Tel mentioned her on the day I petitioned him to release Little Drummer Boy / Peace on Earth.
And, once again, I thank the dear bloggers and blogettes for their support, love and prayers through those worrying early days!

Matt - had to have an early one last night - work was actually manic yesterday and I just needed a "veg" night.
Loved catching up on last night's posts - you guys were so on a roll!
Yay! It's Friday at last. And d'ya know what ..... already this morning I've done 2 x packed lunches, prepped tonight's dinner and put the oven on timer so it's ready when we get home tonight .... and weighed out the fruit for 2 x christmas cakes to be made tomorrow (needs 24 hours soaking in brandy before cooking - that's the law!)
All that before 6.30am when I sat down to catch up with yoos lot!
JTT - oh hun, you sounded like you had a fab night down the rub-a-dubdub. What did you sing at Karaoke?

Memorable jobs?
Sorry, it has taken me a day or so to cotton on.
I spent some time in New Zealand a few years ago. We were living just outside of Auckland near one of the lovely beaches on the north shore, about 45 minutes from the city with a live volcano for a backdrop. Beautiful. Nearby lived an old friend of my grandmother's (pardon me if this sounds familiar, this does link to the 'Grandad' story), so it would have been rude not to drop in and say hi. In fact, we popped in to say hi and left a month later. Anyway, grandmother's friend's husband offered me some work at a security firm in the city. I snapped it up, thinking I'd look quite good in a uniform, with a gun, keeping the nation's riches safe from bad guys.
So, at stupid 'o' clock one morning we trundled into town and I was shown to my 'work station', in the basement of the building, with no windows, basically receiving bags and bags and bags of coins, pouring them into antiquated machines that broke every five minutes and mangled your hands when you tried to fix them, that packaged the coins up into those paper rolls ready to be sent back out to the banks.
And that was it. From dawn till dusk. Not that you'd know whether it was dawn or dusk.
It was like Oliver Twist. Honestly. Dusty, dark, dingy, it was like being catapulted back 150 years.
And the best bit? At the end of the day, we had to put all the rolled up coins into sacks ready for collection, and this meant forming a line and throwing the sacks from person to person and piling them up by the door. Now, I'm a fairly fit bloke, but my workmates were all seven foot, twenty stone pacific islanders - I kid you not. So, each night we'd form a line and they playfully toss the sacks to each with one hand as if they were throwing teabags, until they reached little old me who would be knocked off my feet each time this enormous bundle would come my way.
I lasted three weeks.

Just wanted to wish everyone a happy Friday. I am back at the coal face today, back v stiff but I am grinning (manicly, sp?) and bearing it, well not literally, that would be inappropriate.
This afternoon I have been asked to teach some Year 2s how to sing the German version of "Oh Christmas Tree", and I have never learnt German in my life, good job I've got ol' Nat King Cole to help me. This morning I have to do the last 2 songs of a Y6 production; "We've had a Bellyful" and "Why did everything go so horribly wrong?" - hope these aren't a prediction for my day!
Did anyone see Question Time last night - those Scottish MPs all looked like they need to eat a few more pies (or should it be deep fried mars bars?).
Someone has nicked all the hot water so out with a very messy barnet today.

I have got at home a lovely hand-made advent calendar with pockets in which to put things. It's made its way out of the loft and will have its pockets filled over the next week in readiness for 1st December.
I don't like commercial choccy advent calendars. As much as I love my football, I get annoyed at Football Advent calendars, ditto Disney etc etc.
Give me a good old-fashioned glittery advent calendar with lanterns and baubles any day.

Change of plan for tonight i AM gonna be here for FNWC so have set the bar up and in process of doing the hot tub I've put a gazbo over the top of it so should it rain then we'll be ok. I've got beer for the lads and a sweet sherry for the ladies *gggggggg* I've ordered pizza for about 10ish (inc a veggie one for those of that persuasion) I have also split the shed in two and got another plasma screen. One half will be showing weepy chick flicks and the other will be showing comedies. I've also installed some heating in the smoking shelter for those that do. All i'm waiting for now is CtD in her maids outfit to get cleaning :-D
I've not got else owt to do today so i may be starting the FNWC a tad early so feel free to pop in ANYTIME

...and another coinkydinks...CtD, did I not, just the other day, advise you of my purchase that evening? Three (wise!) snowmen...with rather snazzy bright red scarves...and apparently with proper pictures according to the card it came with...can't be doing with chocolate ones...and the 'chocolate' is either manky, gopping or covered in grey fur. And not in a cute cuddly way either.
Anyhoo, is possibly our only Christmas decoration, unless A5da (other stores available) do trees for a quid again this year!
I think we should just all say what is on our own calendar for that day, and see how many donkeys we get!

Hazel, my darling, I think that no matter what the judges said, John would have won if he'd stayed in, because the public (me included) just thought he was so funny and sweet. It takes a brave man to admit to his mistakes, and a braver one to remedy them, if I wore a hat, I would take it off to you.
You do a fantastic job on DT.
I saw you in London once when I was with my wife and 2 sons at All-Bar-One down by the Thames with your mates before your return to Radio. While there was a temptation to come up and have a chat with one of your heroes, I thought, "Leave the guy alone while he is enjoying some time with friends".
I'd love to have a pint, a few games of pool and talk Beatles, etc.
My suggestion for ARF has to be The Beatles Revolution and advise everyone to listen to it at full tilt and not think afterwards "That's a piece of Rock N Roll Genius".

Hello to all of the COMPUTER people, I've been to see Bingo Star in rehabilitation AGAIN.
He asks me to pass on tttthis, this message :
Bingo says to Mr Christopher Evans that he is very happy to HEAR all is well for Tel and Alled, or is it one 'L' - Aled!!!!!!!! (8)
He also adds that all the talk of killer CRAZY times reminds him oooooof, of the time he waz on holiday iiiiiin, in Lanzarote and had a crazy time that nearly KILLED him. (pity it didn't might have put then I wouldn't HAVe to visit him everyday).
Bingo says he was playing crazy golf and the ball stopped in the middle of the concrete tunnel on tttthe, the 13th hole. He tryed to take his NEXT shot from inside the TUNNEL by lying on the floor and sticking HIS wedge up the hole. But he got his wedge aaaand, and arm wedged solid.
He was stuck there for 6 hours until HE WAS freed by ttttthe, the local emergency services.
The only problem the hot SUN nearly killed him, he recieved severe sunburn and dehidration symptoms.
He had to spend the rest of the holiday in doors, covered IN Aloe Vera, and OUT of the sun.
The man's an IDIOT... how many times do I hhhhave, have to say it... an IDIOT!!!!!!!!! (8)
Bingo asks for the All Request Fiday opening song, ANY CHANCE of Natalie Imbruglia and the song Torn.
As it reminds him of his ex-ukrainian fiancee who was a Natalie Imbruglia lookalike and he says the WORDS of the song fit in perfectly of how he felt left ON his own in the appartment iiiiin, in Ukraine, he was and still is torn!!!!!!!! (8)
He adds, being a keen inspiring guitarist himself, there are some very NICE guitar slides in this song that any guitar player would be proud of (especially near the end of the song) and highly PASSIONATE lyrics of lost love!!!!!!!! (8)
He also adds he does NOT want sympathy though, just passion aaaand, and love... and maybe aaaan, an ARF success!!!!!!!! (8)
Bingo has also asked me to say he hopes Mr Christopher Evans has a very charming week off and he asks are YOU also needing a week in rehabilitation?
Bingo says your more than WELCOME tttttto, to join him in his present abode of rehabilitation.
He adds the fees are very reaonable here.
Bingo also adds 'whatta coincidence' the motto you HAVE written above iiiiiis, is what they tell him in rehabilitation everyday - "everyday, in everyway, it's getting better and better."
Bingo adds unless your FOLLOWING the credit crunch situation daily, like he is!!!!!!!!! (8)

Boy,s night out Cheryl, mmmm,
Last year I was invited to a coporate boy,s night out at Christmas, and it was superb,itenary as follows.
Wine bar meet-up,a few shandy,s then picked up in a limo,off to Racetrack for night meeting. Tip Top Lounge, plenty of fizz and bets taken at your table.
After race meeting off to Shimla Pinks for a Pukka curry,more fizz.
Back to Limo and on to Spearmint Rhino (gentlemen,s club) and more Fizz,and the occasional gymnastic performance, Stagger back to Limo , a large full English Breakfast, as now dawn a breaking,back to Limo To be dropped off at Hotel or home if local.
A jovial and Tip Top evening had by all.

Super_bagpus, might be worth buying some more as major supermarkets are selling at either a tenner or if I remember rightly ELH were selling it for 7 quid.
I'm not a great drinker, so my bottle lasts for ages. It's either Baileys or Pimms for me and a nice glass of white with a good meal. Otherwise Diet Coke all the way.

Agree with Debbie about your post sbp.
My Nan died this February at the grand old age of 98. This will be the first Christmas in my 40 years when she won't be at our Christmas table. The last time I saw her was last Christmas day, she will be sorely missed this year, but we'll raise a glass to her.

Hazel I can do better than that....I'm about to go out in that sunshine any minute now.
I had this urge to just get up out of the house earlier, like I couldn't stand to be here.
So I put the lead on Betty and went out with her. Now bear in mind that she is an old girl and doesn't care for walks these days I knew that it would be a short one.
But I almost had to drag her. To the point where I was concerned.
Straight back, lead off and she runs over to the cat bowl in the kitchen.

Hopefully be there Steve - made a nice job of the shed - - hope Diva cleans it property for us! red please - prefer fruity to anything tasting of wood i.e oak or such like - why do folk want to drink wood??! - but wont really notice after the first half dozen. Oh good grief, Deb, you've just reminded me, when I get home I have to clear up, from the bedroom floor, what was in the cat bowl, on the kitchen floor, about 10mins before it appeared in my aforementioned bedroom.

Hi all, Can I brag about xmas pressies ??
Ive only got 2 more to buy !!! My mother and my friends daughter.
My trick ? I have a present cupboard which i stock throughout the year whenever i see a bargain ! Well im sorry but we couldent afford xmas any other way,?? ive got 5 brothers n sisters all of whom have kids and we have one of our own too - tis the only way to go.
Expect i may have to exchange the gift "cupboard" for a gift "loft" this comming year though as our cherub has now figured out where i stash the goodies.
Anyhow, so mothers getting a togs calendar but i have no idea what my friends cherub will get. Shes into High School Musical, but im quite sure theres absolutly no merchandise what-so-ever for the film (?)

Oh gosh..........is it just me?
Jezza Vine's got folk on talking about the Ross/Brand thing again - because of today's ruling. All the same points are being made yet again...........
People keep ringing and complaining about Ross's Sat am show and saying it's offensive. So why do they listen to it then? All my radios (and TVs) have off buttons - which get used regularly when someone is on who I don't much like.
Other radio stations are available, as they say!
Back to work now - and my radio is going off before I get really cross!

I find JV a bit hit and miss. I don't mind listening to him on the radio when i'm working cos i don't have to listen to ALL of it. But when i'm sat at home working (sic) i find him boring. Esp today although Martin is ok i like quite like .. oh and Terry on the allotment.
As for Baker/Ball . . . .. i suppose it depends on what the ratings are for the show. I still like JR on Sat mornings. As with most people . . .if ya don't like summat then don't listen to it . . .it's not hard to do is it.
As for "kids" listening . . in these days most kids can listen/watch ANYTHING they want as they'll just d/l it from the net if they so wish. So i'm not sure that the "watershed" is relevent anymore.

I'm sure he has many friends and I expect his mother loves him, but, I really cannot stand Jeremy Vine. I think he is one of the most annoying tics, with the most irritating voice, and just altogether seems to be not a particularly nice piece of work. He is also on practically every bbc programme that I (used to) watch.
Hence I have voted with the appropriate button.
Anyhoo, on a lighter note, I can't get away from it today...40 per cent off...go for it!

She's sat on my knee right now and is lovely and warm.

Afternoon each
My order for tonight is Vodka (Grey Goose if the budget stretches hee hee!) and just a tot of Coke to colour it! Bagsy the seat near the step in the tub too... took me ages to climb out over the bodies last week!
We had snow here too...albeit for about 10 seconds.. BOOO....I WANT SNOW!
