HE'S THE BEST
Just been to see the new...
...went with Saunders and private Pike.
Rebecca, quite fond of Daniel Craig before the screening, now officially wants to jump all over his bones. He gets his bod out again.
Johnny wants to be him.
I want to produce the movie.
And that's it in a nutshell really. That's who we are as people. You are defined by how you look at a situation.
The film was good too. Again, nothing like the oldies, one chase too many if I'm honest but that was more at the beginning than the end. He is a mighty fine actor young Mr. Craig, loves a beer as well I hear, so even better.
Have a good weekend you dudes, let's hope you're all still here Monday.

Now I'm confoosed. Which blog am I meant to blog on?
Just watched our local news - a half hour "special" on the credit crunch and how its affecting our region.
I can't help but think that the media help to create panic and unease among the masses. If it were lower key would we all be so up in arms about the state of the NasDac, or the FTSE? Would we really notice that bread has gone up 10p a loaf when purchased as part of a mass weekly shop? Constant reminders of Christmas being just around the corner ..... guess what - we know!
I appreciate that everyone has different financial circumstances by which they live but I truly believe that things may not be as bad if the media just piped down a bit and let us all just get on with it.
**climbs off soap box**
No doubt I'll get shot down in flames by some of you for that, but it's only my opinion.

I agree Cheryl. The media is persuading people not to spend and that will make the situation worse, need to keep the economy flowing.
Maybe a once a week update would be enough not every single news programme broadcast, every day.

I think unless money's tight and i mean REALLY tight you'd not notice things like bread being 10p dearer or butter being 50p dearer but when you have a very limited budget it does notice . .. A LOT.
I missed most of ARF including the 1st track and no time to listen again . . . . who got it and what was it? please don't tell me it was sunday morning nightmare by sham69 . . . i really reall REALLY haven't got time to listen (honest)
Got a w/e of doing nowt except a bit of food shopping tomorrow and to me parents on sunday (save on food)
Anyone else got plans to do owt or nowt over the w/e?
BEST Bond has to be Roger i also liked pierce (??) not keen on the new bloke though i don't think he has the right gravitas to do the role justice but as per normal no doubt i'll be in a corner of me own.
I shall await it's arrival on TV at some point in the future.

Greetings and Salutations from Vancouver, Canada...a city galloping towards winter...
Firstly, I would like to wish each and every one of you a fine weekend. Whatever merriment and mirth you indulge in and whatever fun and frivolity presents itself, enjoy to the full.
Incidentally, Cheryl (if I may sidestep to a Facebook riposte momentarily) extra chilli sauce is the order of the day. God Bless Turkey, that's what I intone.
As for me, the gym beckons post work, then off to order a take out Indian (and a cheeky pint or two in the pub next door while we wait for our piquant taste of the Tandoor) followed by a robustly relaxing reclining couch evening...accompanied by a fine Chianti and suitably superb motion picture.
To one and all, thanks again for some entertaining commentary and a blog that never fails to raise a cheeky smirk or two.
Good day to you all...
Dr. T

Dr T .... how wonderful to hear from you.
The taste of Turkey was indeed delivered to Diva Towers, but as I have no work in the morning, I indulged in garlic sauce atop my kebab. With chillis, au naturel!
Weekend plans? Mr Diva working Saturday morning so that leaves me to do the weekly shop (heart says Waitrose, credit crunch may dictate Tesco tho). Resting tomorrow afternoon as we're off out tomorrow night to see Mark Steel in Colchester (stand-up comedian). I'm a bit worried as he's meant to be really funny. Funny equals laughing and laughing equals coughing. Oh dear!
Sunday is a sportsfest ..... the final round of Moto GP from Valencia, then the arm up match of Liverpool vs Chelsea and then the main event of the weekend ..... and this is where me 'n' him might come to blows .... West Ham vs Arsenal. He's a West Ham suppporter, y'see.
Also need to bake a cake on Sunday. As you do!
Blimey. That's the weekend gawn already.

Now off to start the washing (which is endless) and then clean the house while MrS hits Tesco. Then, we are off to see Ghost Town, starring Ricky Gervais, which is getting brilliant reviews. I am astonished my lovely husband has agreed to see it with me - he hates going to the cinema!

I had a mum at school yesterday ask me if LM could go round for tea after school one day which was really lovely. Chatted to her loads at the party today and it turns out that she lives just around the corner. Quite pleased about that.
Recently started to get on with another mum, my aussie mate. I feel like I have known her forever and LM and her little boy are good mates too. We are planning to go out for some 'tinnies' one night soon.
Anyway, hope that everyone has had a good day. Don't forget to change those clocks later.

After outlining my plans for the day, we ended up being forced to stay home! We did try to get into town, but Hurricane Katrina (and all her waves) was paying Glasgow a visit today, so Ricky will just have to wait!
Debbie: how nice that you are getting to know some of the other mums. I completely missed out on that because MsS had a childminder from when she was five months old. We were so lucky, we had the best childminder in Glasgow (I think!) but I do have some regrets that I've always had to work since our daughter was born. I think it's great that you are making new friends.

Hi Chrissie, it's been quite windy here dahn sarf today too.
I know what you mean about missing out with the school thing. When the teen was at Infants/Juniors I had a childminder drop him off and collect him everday.
It meant that I didn't get to know the mums properly, at birthday parties for the kids I didn't really know anyone and felt awkward.
I think it would have helped both me and my stepson bond more if I had of been more involved.
So this is another reason why I do not want to go back to work full-time and want to be as involved with LM's school life as possible. I'm really enjoying it. Does that make me selfish? (don't ask my husband).

On the non-full time working mum thing, if I ever get to the having kids stage I think I'd want something part time once kid(s) was / were at school. I'd certainly want to be about when they were growing up but I'd want something adult too (that's the selfish bit to me ;) )when they could manage without me for a few hours. Long way off affording small wailing things yet, so I'll keep dreaming of the part time life.

The couple next door had the wife's elderly mum round to feed the cat while they are away. She lost her keys in the field over the road, came back and she has left windows open, locked out.
Mr Debbie couldn't do much other than call the family to let them know.
So I've just made her sit in with me and have a cup of tea while she waited for her other son. Couldn't, wouldn't leave her out in the cold no matter how much she said she should.
She is off with him now, worrying about getting told off bless her.
And my aussie mate's boy is fine, no long lasting damage. But the doctor is going to be getting a complaint on Monday for sure.

On the windscreen blowing out and your tax disc blowing into the river; that'd be well scary, so I don't blame you for being dubious crossing in high winds now. I guess this was before computerised records of who's paid their car tax, so I guess you had more difficulty then than you might have now about the fact it was somewhere very unreachable and very soggy. Dare I ask how you got a replacement? (I'm assuming you did eventually along with a new windscreen)

Right as you are all still here - Mr B used the forth road bridge a fair bit and as usual struggled across - went for a fair while when discovered not the usual wind but a flat tyre!

Hellooooooo playmates!
It's absolutely bucketing it down here. The DIY stores could make a killing if they invented flat-pack arks!!!
Well, we had a fab evening last night. Mark Steel was soooooooooooo funny my face hurt from laughing so much. The cough behaved itself to - which was a huge relief.
Got home about 1am and woke up at 7 - or so I thought. Yep ...... we forgot to do the clocks last night so it was really only 6am. Doh!
The bad news of the day is that Mr Diva has caught the lurgi. :-( but it didn't stop him devouring a bacon sarnie a wee while back!
On the agenda today: bike racing, footie, X-Factor repeat, baking an apple and pecan cake, cooking a roast and generally chilling out. Anti-biotics finish today so may even indulge in a glass of Pinot later!!!! Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Back in a bit lovelies!

Good Morning bloggers.
Last night I attended an evening of awards for bloggers of note.
I was awarded the star prize.
This is a snipit of my acceptance speech.
I would like to thank my fellow bloggers who made all this possible.
Fellow comedians
Dr Joseph Mc Crumble, Moose, Clodagh, Hazel, Bingo, TTT, Kyle, and anyone that knows me...
I then returned home to be shot in the library with a revolver by Mrs White after having been forced fed rabbit stew.
So I am now deceased and speak to you from the grave for the last time.

Hi Oz, hi all, enjoyed catching up on last night's banter. Ted, it's time you launched the "Tough Task Ted's Training Tips for Tiresome, Troublesome Teens" website. TTTTTTTT. I'd be on it like a shot, esp with Friday's Halloween party looming. Talking of which...
Annie, lovely to see you back, have made a vow to myself never to cross the Forth bridge thanks to your tales of terror. Isn't that the bridge that they never stop painting?
The Boleyns are an "Ooooops" family. I have a fire at the table story too, and smashed glasses(loved that BM), sprayed red wine and splattered bolognese tales aplenty. We still do the the teatowel and peg thing if it is very important to keep clean that day.
Dancing lesson this afternoon, chachacha.

Afternoon each
Love the oops stories. When my oops daughter was little, her most-used wail was 'It was an accident' and she's not changed at all. She was seriously amazed at her sister-in-law having plates, cups, etc with no chips in them.
Bsmum: Poor Mr.B with a flat tyre on the Bridge from Hell. My accellerator cable in my little Beetle broke once and I kangaroo-hopped to the Tolls. Re: the gales - you only have to be scared when the 20mph signs are up - then you know its really gale force.
Boleyngirl: It's the Forth Rail Bridge they constantly paint - think that's all that keeps it together.
Back later.

Oh gosh so much to read and catch up - thanks to all bloggers for your postings.
My thanks this week go to volunteers of Dorset Wildlife Trust for what they do on Brownsea Island weekend in weekend out. I did one day with them this weekend and I am stiff, sore, eyes still hurt from smoke and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
I had the day off on friday and went to the healthy place for relaxation and gentle swim.
Went and did a party in Warminster for some excellent ladies and got home after 1am so to be up at 7 for Brownsea was an achievement in itself. I also have a day off tomorrow and retail therapy and healthy place to look forward to.
I hope you bloggers and lurkers have had a great weekend whatever you have been doing.
No idea why there is a ghost blog duplicate for Friday - practising for halloween maybe?

Man Alive.
Just got back from visiting The Dyke.
Not Dick Van or Greg, no, we've been to Offa's.
Let me explain.
My Dad has bought a wonderful house that straddles the English/Welsh border. So much so, that the town is in Wales, but the station is in England, and Offa's Dyke actually runs through the garden. How cool is that? A real piece of dark ages history where most people have a greenhouse. Well, actually it is right next to the greenhouse, but hey, it is still cooler than a water butt or a compost heap.
Yesterday we headed up into the hills and realised that this crowded little island of ours still contains some real areas of amazing beauty and isolation. There we were, walking along a path that was established over a thousand years ago, watching the Red Kites gliding above us (the birds of prey, not plastic child's toys on strings), passing ancient ruins where the likes of Owain Glyndwr spilt much blood, oblivious to what depressing financial turmoil was going on elsewhere on the planet. Sure, it was but a brief respite, but what a way to lose yourself and rediscover the better things in life.
And, the back to basics lessons didn't stop there. We arrived at a fantastic little pub last night, had a few pints of the local ale and some good homecooked grub, only to discover that they didn't accept any type of card. We rummaged around to see what cash what had between us, dreading the bill and anticipating a night of washing up, when the landlord handed us the damage. Between five of us we had eaten and drunk well and it came to less than a couple of modest rounds at our local.
And, the best bit of all? Silence and pure, unadulterated darkness. Seriously, until you can truly see the night sky with zero light pollution and absolute quiet, you haven't lived.
Or slept. As you know, my track record for kip is pretty grim, but I have never known anything like it.
Anyway. Apologies for the extended leave, setting up my new empire has taken rather more of my time than anticipated. Good news is that Mrs MfR is back amongst the country's workforce, so we are upgrading our forecasted Christmas dinner from baked beans on toast.
I haven't been able to catch up with all your goings-ons, so I hope that everyone is fine and dandy.
Much love
MfR

MfR - good to hear from ya hun. Was getting worried by your conspicuous absence. The Dyke sounds fantastic and I'm chuffed for you that all's going well for you and your lady.
Well Mr Diva was not best impressed by The Hammers performance but I think my spell in the doghouse will be minimal due to the amazing (yes, really!) roast lamb dinner I cooked earlier, and the even more amazing (is it possible!?!?) pecan and apple cake baked for this week's packed lunches.
Also - caught up with the CLP Bloggers page on FB earlier and just wanted to say thanks. You know who you are, and why I'm saying thanks. You're all great xxx
Right, off to see if it's my go at any of those bonkers word games before Strictly comes on in an hour or so.

Hello to all in Blogland, how's things? Work so busy lately I haven't even had time to catch up, never mind blog myself! Am loving it though, after a good six months of tedium!
CtD, been meaning to ask you all week, did you catch Russell on Radio 1? I think it was Tuesday morning, on the breakfast show. Gave me a good old giggle going up the motorway.
MfR, good to "see" you hon. Back to nature sounds fab, nice to get away from the hustle and bustle sometimes isn't it? Hope the new "thing" is going well...
Never really sure about Bond. It's all a bit of mindless entertainment isn't it? Can't say there's one of them who's really stood out for me. Haven't seen DC, but I agree with Steve about the gravitas (lovely word, Steve!).
Also agree with CtD about the media scaremongering re the alleged recession. But it's not just them. It's also the likes of Mervyn King (governor of the Bank of England) and some American government chap from last week whose odd name escapes me, talking about how disastrous the situation is. And these are people who we ordinary folk (well, me anyway) assume know their stuff, so we trust them. Shut up about it, you're just making it worse!!
Sorry, who wants the soapbox next?

What a weekend, worked a 17hr shift on Sat pm/Sun am, only to then get home and realise I'd received loads of texts during my shift re: Spurs and Harry. Have to say I'm genuinely excited about this appointment, he's a top manager and maybe, just maybe we'll turn the corner after a few years too many in the wilderness. Mind you we're at the Library on Weds which isn't a happy hunting ground for the Lilywhites.

Hello all. Whilst I realise this may not be the forum for what I'm about to ask, I'm going to ask anyway.
Can I have a bit of help please? Am completing new boss's expenses forms and his accounts dept (unlike mine) require me to complete the VAT column (mine do it for me, bless 'em). Have received conflicting advice as to what you pay VAT on and what you don't, so any help would be much appreciated!! A lot of the expenses are taxis and eating out, with a bit of petrol and parking thrown in for fun...
Don't want to look like a numpty the first time I do it hehe.

Hi AF
From what I can remember of expense forms, you don't claim back the VAT on taxis, cabs and parking. Petrol I did though. Entertaining and eating out I'm sure I didn't claim back the VAT.
Please correct if I'm wrong anyone, it was a long time ago!
