Really really really late today...
...no reason really, the day just seems to have slipped away. I think I spent too long staring at five really big helicopters that were circling Regent's Park at about three hundred feet for most of this afternoon. To be precise it's now 16.49 and I haven't written the intro for the show yet.
Off to polo this weekend for the first time ever, I have no idea what to expect, apparently the Queen's going to be there! If I bump into her i might ask her if she knows anything about the helicopters.
Listen you lot have a good one, I really must go and focus on a request or two.

OMG! He's full on sometimes and others looks just as sweet as....looking forward to many years of missing socks, shoes, clothes in general, unwashed underwear:) and many other items that have mysteriously found their way into his bed!!! And that's while I feel like I'm watching his every move.....so far no toilet stuff gone for a walk....but no doubt he'll tune into this blog and decide that's a good idea!!!

Hello, just a quickie to say I am SO glad Mary that you are back. You sound like me - I've got one of those mattress toppers too - lovely and snuggly! Sometimes you just need to make a "nest "and keep yourself safe. But I'm glad you know that lots of people here care about you and are thinking of you. ((Mary))

Still blogging...in between toilet clearing up - big and small.....had the boy outside (that's Alfie!) for about 15 mins and in between trying to get him to stop eating anything in sight...generally twigs, stones, leaves.....chasing him to get twigs, stones, leaves and anything else out his mouth gave up on toilet...2 mins later.......right in front of me!!! So just clearing up that and then right in front of me again mid clean.....toilet no 2....

Ah well, I tried but no call-back from the ARF team. But I was so surprised when someone answered (he sounded sooo young!) that I babbled like a fool, will need to be better prepared next time.
After all that excitement, I just wanted to say 'hello' properly and I promise to be here more often than just twice.
Am coming up to another birthday next Sunday and that always makes you think about what you have or haven't done since the last one. Well, in the spirit of making the moment count I am making a birthday resolution to do more this year - go out more, see my friends and family more and blog more... whew!

Hey everyone ... just a quickie as I'm rather enjoying the Holland/France match.
Acupuncture lady rang back. I'm going on Wednesday afternoon. Apparently for sciatica I could have needles stuck anywhere from lower back to soles of feet, via bum, legs, etc. I reassured her that she had plenty of space to work on!!
Off to London tomorrow so probably won't be back here til Sunday.

Anne his hair is the funniest thing I've seen -- and no way build on the dunes they are wonderful - not been - but seen pics -try the sahara - plenty of sand there - Go away you silly man.
Cant concentrate - being attacked by doggy playing with other half - i'm in way! nicked my tissue - can we get off him - not quick enough. He was flat out snoring two secs ago!! doggy not other half! off you go play outside - oh yes and water my pots!!

Hello all...whispering as I know you will all be asleep. Well I am well and truely here - I have racked up 1000KMs in two days but am where I want to be. For those who would like to follow my journey I started in Auckland - drove down to Hamilton, then down to Wellington in one day - the roads were such good fun - empty and twisty with sheer drops on the right hand side (mostly). Got into Wellington at 11pm and phone mum and dad to let them know I had survived then slept (b-smum quite right)

got up at 4am then hit the road to get the ferry across the strait to Picton. Arrived in picton at 12 noon then spent the rest of the day driving on REALLY long straight roads (and few twisty ones) to Greymouth. Got here at 6pm and now cooking a steak (yummy) and drinking cold Tui beer (yummier). The surf is crashing on the beach just behind my camp site and I am so happy.
I am finally in love..with a country!! So - from now on it is short hops so that i can actually take a look at parts of the island. I have put up some pics on my FB photography page (link from CLP Bloggers)
CtD - why would i be gutted? Could not quite work out why but suspect it may have something to do with "don't stop me know" by queen (I have been playing this too much in my camper as I pile down the mountain sides!!!

And so the intrepid explorer returns.
I survived Chinese water torture, bamboo shoots under my finger nails and even the old favourite, sleep deprivation.
Ha. They didn't realise that I am well trained in that department.
Although it pains me to say it, I actually quite enjoyed it. And, dare I suggest, I even feel I got something out of it.
Best bit of all though, after a couple of cheeky glasses of chablis I finally told my boss how unhappy I am with the job. Good move? I guess I'll find out on Monday.
And now I'm back at the ranch. We'll be popping down to the travel agent to pay for Abu Dhabi, nip into the supermarket, and then a whole bunch of nothing.
We've both earned it.
I see everyone has been busy here. It is difficult these days to catch up after a couple of days away, so I have only skimmed through. Needless to say, I've missed the old place.

Rob I am so jealous - the pics of NZ are gorgeous and now I'm wishing I'd booked somewhere slightly more exotic than S Wales for my summer holiday!!
My brain is not fully awake so I have no idea what else to say now so I'll toddle off and try and wake up and then we'll see if the brain is going to play today or not.

Motley Crue was not my first gig.
Having notched up a handful of months in existence, I attended a Simon and Garfunkel concert (I allowed my parents to accompany me) and - get this - made the Daily Mirror for being the youngest person in attendance.
Bet you never tasted fame at such an early age.
Had a pint (well, two, actually) at The M this afternoon, in the sunshine, and will shortly be settling down to a glass or two of prosecco, a couple of '24s' and Mrs MfR's risotto.

Hope your weekend is going swimmingly! We are at my folks place in Oban, enjoying the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful part of this wee nation! How I long to live here again!! Hey-ho! The wee lass had a blast this afternoon wandering round a farm with over 500 chickens, ducks and geese, mostly roaming free! She looked like a wee pied piper with them all following her and her little pot of feed! Some of the cockerels were the same height as her!! She has no fear! She didn’t see the vicious claws!!
Oh how I love Delilah!! We Delilahed whilst sitting having our home-made rolls in the car park at the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge! The wee lass laughed so much I nearly had an Alfie accident!!!
MwK - should have checked the blog before I emailed you!! Doh!! Still fuming, but so, so, very, very glad that you decided to stick with us!! This wouldn’t be the same without you, honey. You have my mobile - any time - day or night (though I have just remembered I have left it in Mum’s car!!). I had a lovely chat with a teacher my Mum knows this afternoon who has just been diagnosed with ME - felt heart sorry for her as her parents are both poorly, her Dad just took a stroke and has been moved to hospital in Glasgow, and her hubby’s Mum (who was with them, such a lovely woman) has dementia.

Started this morning at 3.3am after an early night – last night it started to rain and the sound of the pounding surf and rattle of rain on the roof of the van helped me to one of the best night’s sleep I have had in a long time. Woke up early (I guess I am still jet-lagged) so I decided to head out early. The destination was Franz Joseph and Fox Glaciers. The drive was great – in an already traffic lite New Zealand early morning meant that I drove for 2 hours and passed not a single car. As light started to creep in I found myself driving along gorgeous mist/cloud hung lakes and stopped for a coffee and some snaps. In the early morning the early morning the water was totally still on the smaller ones and I got some good reflective shots.
I got to Franz Joseph glacier at about 8.30am and walked up towards it. I followed the path until it reached the wash out – a vast valley filled with smoothed boulders and a fast flowing torrent. The glacier itself is currently growing but generally it is in decline. I had to walk about 2 miles up river to find the ice itself but what a walk. The mist and rain started to drift in and I walked behind a tour group, seeing them in the distance gave some clue as to the size of the ice-wall – it was astonishing. Also astonishing was the sound made by the melt-water river as it hurled boulders with car smashing force along the river. It sounded like the river groaning. Amazing.
I managed to get right up next to the towering ice and felt very intimidated – if it were to break and fall at that moment I would be crushed with out a trace.
I took some quick shots and even saw some people climbing the ice-wall, then retreated back to my van. I then drove on to Fox Glacier (named after foxes glacier mints (humour) ) but decided not to climb up to it. Instead I did a recognisance of Mattheson Lake which is reputed to be the most photographed lake in NZ. It give mirror image shots of Mount Cook (the highest mountain in NZ) but the best time to get there is early in the morning and so I just wanted to make sure I knew where I was going and what I was going to do. I took some shots but only saw the very top of the snow clad mountain peaking from behind the rain clouds. I have it on good authority that tomorrow is going to be very clear and still…so fingers crossed. This afternoon I am washing my smalls and having a rest (with some beers).

Jumpingbean is still sleepy. Just seen Mr Jumpingbean off to start his bike ride, he should be on his way into the Big Smoke by now with the rest of the gang. Wheee.... hope it doesn't rain on them. Going to Brighton later on, hoping to see him cross the finish line - that would make my day!
Back to bed now, hopefully I'll wake up again in time to have a bath and get to Brighton and find somewhere to park without getting lost. We reckoned it takes about half an hour to get there from here, but if you then add in the Jeni-factor (aka getting lost) and finding somewhere to park and combatting traffic, I think an hour may be more like it.

Good luck to Mr Jumpingbean and his cycle ride. I have a bicycle but never been on it - yet! Inherited it from previous house owner, cleaned it up - new saddle - never been on it. Keep threatening to go cycling in Delamere Forest but always find a reason why I can't.
Oban looks glorious and I can't wait to do my little tour of all those special places in Scotland. I just love Scotland.
Golf widow today so having a special "me" day. Like doing the ironing and giving the car a valet!
CLP - enjoy the polo. I used to love going back in SA where our company used to have corporate days when the Argentinian teams came out. Many of the UK polo players attended as well and I met some lovely people.

Just checked "him's" golf diary - has more golf days than the years got Saints days!!!! Summer fourball, Captains drive-in, Captain's drive-out! Company day, Team days, Spring outings, Portugal week et al. And that's the same in his Drumpelier golf club in Scotland as well !!! Will have to finish this rant before I put his clubs, shoes (6 pairs!), shirts (one for each day of the year and tees and markers where he can carry them permanently around with him!

Hey gang!
Sounds like busy weekends have been had (so far) by all.
Happy Birthday Rob - did you know it would have been Che Guevara's birthday today too - he'd have been 80.
Friend and me had a fab day in London yesterday. Got a nice early train and quite literally raided Pr1m@rk in Oxford Street. I don't think I've ever spent the best part of 2 hours in one store before. Not even at Christmas. Twas good fun tho. We both came away loaded with goodies but not too many dents in our finances.
The only thing to do after that was a nice cold beer to recover and rest our weary feet. Then lunch. Then another pub just off Leicester Square. Then went and saw Chicago. It was fantastic! I now have a desire to play the part of Roxie Hart - although not sure I could get my leg up quite that high at the mo! Have been driving Mr Diva mad all day by belting out "All That Jazz" around the place!!!
After the show we headed back to the station, and with half an hour to kill the decent thing to do was to go to the pub!
Got home about 8ish. Absolutely shattered. But all my new things fit perfect!!
Off to the smoke again in 2 weeks' time for same friends actual birthday - Docklands Museum and a south bank/southwark pub crawl. You're welcome to join us!
Went to the allotment today with the camera - I've uploaded the results onto FB if you wanna have a nose. And the broad beans with tonight's dinner tasted delish!
Right, off to slip into something more comfortable now ... read into that what you will. After all, the imagination is free!!

Also have 20 week scan in afternoon (though am 21weeks) and am very nervous about it given I am an older Mum. The not knowing if all is well is a nightmare - I just long for the day when we can hold the wee lad or lass!

A 6 am start this morning and when I woke up it was freezing in the van. This was a good sign as it meant no clouds. I got dressed and had last nights sausages for breakfast, washed and then headed straight back to Matthesons lake for my photo call. It was pitch black when I got there so I am pleased I did a reconnaissance the day before and using my cell phone as a torch I made my way back around the lake to where I had been. As I made my way along the dark, tree shrouded path I noticed that the way was lit by thousands of glow worms – it was stunning and I was the only one there to enjoy it. Even being careful I managed to slip once and grazed my knee. I set up the camera and took a few star shots. Then as the sun came up I managed to get a few good shots of Mt Cook in the back ground reflected by the lake – stunning.
Then I hit the road south – taking pics all the way as I saw amazing coastline and gorgeous crystal clear lakes. There were some places that I thought I might camp at until I got out of the van, at which point my own personal cloud of midges descended and tried to eat me. Point to note, buy insect repellent! The sun was with me most of the way and it was only as I arrived in Queenstown that the clouds came in. During the journey I saw an area that must have been filmed for the Rohan section of Lord of the Rings and took the alpine road over to Queenstown and at one point was actually above the clouds than now surround me.
Plan for tomorrow is to make it (if possible) to Milford Sound…fingers crossed

Strange being on almost the opposite time to every one - 7pm here is 7am there..bizarre.
Just cooked a nice chilli (wouldn't want to share the camper with me tonight..phew) hehehe and then a few beers and perhaps a nice long shower as the camp site has one - then another early night with another long journey tomorrow.

Good morning all! Made it to a normal time morning this morning, no thanks to Morning Town Ride being played on the radio earlier - sent me into a proper deep sleep again just as I was supposed to be waking up. I haven't heard that since primary school, the headmistress used to play it (along with puff the magic dragon and various womble songs) on the last day of term in the summer while we watched the clock tick away the final minutes.
Mr Jumpingbean had never heard it before and was very impressed with my slurred and sleep-filled rendition. Was almost beginning to think I'd dreamt it until somebody texted the show to say they'd been reduced to tears hearing it...!
Ah Rob your photos this morning are particularly gorgeous, am getting more and more jealous by the day. Although, I suspect if I had remembered to take my camera out yesterday morning when we were up with the dawn chorus, I could have taken some pretty stunning shots on my drive home. Typical eh, never seem to have my camera with me when The pictures are screaming to be taken.
Mr Jumpingbean has got a poorly knee this morning, well, it started about 40 miles into the ride but he made it up Ditchling Beacon without stopping which he was VERY proud of (and so am I) so there's at least one person who sponsored him who now owes him more money!! Stiffness has gone this morning but he's still in a lot of pain, all muscular so we'll see how it is in a few days. I'm giving it 'til Wednesday before he's dying to get back on his bike. Next challenge is the South Downs Way in 2 days, or the London to Brighton off-road challenge....
Right must get dressed. Or at least try to, I'm still a bit woozy...

EJR, love NZ, was there in March for the 2nd time. I loved Mt Cook btw. I'm sooooo jealous. Queenstown is one of my fave places, would do anything to be back there again.

Morning all, hope all had a good weekend in the sun.
I am unfortunatley recovering from a weekend under duvet with a stomach bug. Never mind though 2 days closer to Hubby coming home for two weeks. 4 weeks today I will be waiting for the RAF to touch down with a VERY important Cargo in need of hugs and TLC (and apparrently a KFC!).

EJR - your trip sounds amazing. I STILL have not made it to FB. Will have to get my house in order so can check out pics. Glowworms sounded amazing.....a fantastic memory for sure, along with many others.
Weekend certainly sounded busy. Not such a great one here. Got phone call Fri night from best friend from school and our other best friend (there are 3 of us) is in hospital out of the blue and has been diagnosed with lymphoma between Thurs night and Fri night!!! Both of us were in commplete shock and not able to say much on phone through the tears. Our friend lives in Holland so not exactly handy to just pop over although we plan to....but depending on what happens today as they have run more tests over weekend and they will get results today...best case scenario is 'just' lymphoma as seems very curable and reacts well to chemo etc. So bizarrely we are keeping our fingers crossed that she is diagnosed conclusively with that and no other extras....
Sorry to share my bad news but had really difficult weekend, feeling useless because of distance and of course trying hard to keep good thoughts....when you have been friends since you were 14 it seems somehow that you are closer than family. We've all been through so much together over the years.
Anyway, Alfie has kept me smiling as only animals can...no words just affection.

Ha ha EJR! Movements the pivot that the RAF works around! The funniest part of it was finally boarding the steps to come home after three months, and an extra 3 days of waiting with no change of clothes (My kit had been sent home!) to hear a massive crunch to our left - all on the steps look left to see WO movements had driven the baggage ramp through the fuselage of the aircraft!
Funny now...., but the air was slightly blue then though! Ahhh good memories. Lol!

On the subject of Paul Burrell, I was walking through Jarrolds (a department store in Norwich!) yesterday when a certain headline caught my eye. That man is the lowest of the low, God knows what William and Harry must be thinking about him. He is just the pits and if he thinks selling his story and going on QVC to sell Diana's name is what a "rock" would do, then he's much mistaken.
Hope you all had a great weekend and Father's Day, went to a certain restaurant in The Lanes area of Norwich for lunch and my son asked for no mayo on his roll as he is allergic to egg, we only noticed it was covered in mayo just as he bit into it! No tip for them and don't think we'll be going back!

Regarding Paul Burrell, I think the man that sold his story to the NOTW is not much better to be honest. He claims to not want any more to do with the man but is happy to cash in by selling what is likely to be lies anyway. Hypocrite.

Thanks for asking Red. The pain has shifted down my leg and into the "overhang" bit where your leg joins your bum!! Did some walking over the weekend (very gingerly) and its ok for a while. Still really painful standing up tho. And still got pins and needles constantly in my right foot. Bit freaky, that.
I'm having acupuncture on weds afternoon, so fingers crossed that loosens something up!

Howya one and all from lovely sunny Dublin.
Haven't been blogging as have been frantically busy trying to catch up with work over here, having had soooo much time off with Renee.
However, she's been left in the capable hands of the sister, the Genius daughter and the batty niece, and as I speak she is very chirpy, continuing to make an astonishing recovery from what was a horrendous experience for her (and the rest of us) and looking forward to my return this evening, God help her.
I wonder what the waft will be as I open the door. Bacon and creosote butties or potato pie with a 2" crust and brussels sprouts the texture of sherbet. Just what yous need when you've lost all circulation in your buttocks after a 5-hour drive with a good tossin' on the Irish Sea in between.
Okey dokey, must be off, there's still skin and hair flyin' over this rejection of the Lisbon Treaty and it's been highly entertaining let me tell yous.....
