Lady GaGa ft. Beyoncé - 'Telephone'

You can't blame a man for getting confused. I mean, one minute a woman (and her friend) is purring away at you in breathy, panting tones, demanding that you call her on your video phone so she can show you how naughty she is - and the next, they're telling you not to call at all.
With so much contradiction going on, it's a wonder any fellas keep persisting. But then again, the women concerned aren't exactly average. After the innuendo-riddled (but slightly rubbish) 'come and get me' sexiness of Beyonce's 'Video Phone' featuring Lady Gaga, the superstar pair are back with another telephone-themed collaboration, and this time it seems they're no longer in the mood.
(Video isn't ready yet. It's gonna be another eye-peeler, innit)
For starters, it's GaGa's show this time around, and she's decided she's had quite enough of her man calling, and that she'd much rather be on the dancefloor than talking to him. Plus she hasn't got a signal in the club anyway, which she's trying to tell him, but he just keeps on calling regardless.
At this point you can't help but wonder why no-one suggested to GaGa that she turn her phone off altogether, but if she was wearing those funny fangs at the time then maybe no-one was brave enough. Or maybe they did try but she just couldn't hear them over the music; whatever...
'Telephone' is a pure dancefloor track, yet it also provides a platform for GaGa to show us the sweeter side of her voice. Starting off simple, melodic and slow, the song kicks in after the first verse by shattering your expectations of a ballad. It's got stuttering (and lots of it), it's repetitive, and it's catchy. And if the words don't rhyme - like "play" and "hand", then Gaga just adds an 'eh' on the end, and everything works out fine.
Beyonce comes in somewhere in the middle, providing a semi-rapped vocal which is strong and provides the 'girl power' element. If you like her voice on 'Diva', you'll like this.
In short - and totally against the way modern technology is developing - 'Telephone' more than makes up for where 'Video Phone' fell short, and definitely feels more like the kind of song that you'd expect from such a superstar collaboration.

I saw LADY GAGA out on a supershow , last week and it was truly spectacular and awesome . Absolutely brilliant .
Arguably the biggest global solo star of the past year , bar none.
I have bigged up this talented , astute , star , from day one back in 2008 , and she is totally living up to expectations.
Is there anyone left in the UK , who has NOT heard of LADY GAGA ?
It has been nothing short of total chart and tabloid domination !
Behind all the clothes and the illuminating mask of flambuoyance , is a supreme talent and a fantastic marketing brain.
The Fame Monster , has just elevated her even higher , and is a welcome progression after the all-out pop gloss of The Fame.
You want variation , then listen to Teeth , Speechless ,and Monster .
There is a darker underworld that blackens Miss Germanotta's subways , these days .Hey , she even samples Depeche Mode's Strangelove on the wonderful Dance in the Dark !
Anyway , onto the pop landscape that is Telephone , that will soon explode commercially when the very interesting video arrives .
The song boasts loads of catchy hooks , and sounds great on the dancefloor.

Telephone is an amazing pop song. In my opinion, much better than Bad Romance or Poker Face. I also saw GaGa live at Oxegen last Summer. Behind all her gimmicks, she is a true talent.

As usual the Telephone video premiere has been pushed back, it will now premiere on Thursday, 11th March on E! News. The thing is; will it really premiere then or will it be pushed back again to a later date, one thing we can be sure of is that it will be awesome!

Well, seeing as my last post was removed, I'll write a response with less capitals. (:
Right, well this song has been eveywhere hasn't it? It first appeared in the Top 40 back when 'Bad Romance' made it's chart debut at No. 14. Since then it fell out of the top 100 and then returned quickly, lingering about No. 80 odd, then it shot up and has been wandering around aimlessly in the No. 30-40 region for the past four weeks.
After all the live performances of it at The Monster Ball Tour and her AMAZINGGGG performance on Jonothan Ross a few days ago, plus a liberal helping of radio airplay, this song should by now doubt hit the top 3. But I expect that because Beyoncé's there too, it'll top the charts.
P.S. It just struck me, that'll be 4/6 of the UK singles released by the Lady of GaGa herself that has hit number 1, after the unarguably decent chart performance of 'Paparazzi' (No. 4) and the shocking scandal of 'LoveGame'. (No. 19) Stupid illegal downloads. :@

I actually feel a little bit disappointed by the Telephone video; the dialogue is poorly written and the whole thing doesn't seem to flow very well with the song getting cut off at random points for some strange acting part. Not to say there aren't some good bits in it, all the moment containing the song are great and the whole thing does have the right amount of spectacle required but put it next to say Thriller or even Bad Romance and it becomes only a good video not a great one.
4/5 would be my score for it.

I know the 'Let's Bake A Cake' thing was crazy and all the loud sound effects when they were eating and stuff was weird. I also think Beyoncé trying to act all quirky and edgy was completely out of character, Beyoncé has always been like a saint in the music room...a saint that gets away with almost showing her ladybits in every music video.
What was with the random prison fight? Had nothing to do with GaGa at all! And the amount of product placement (notice the Diet Coke in GaGa's hair during the fight scene and the Virgin mobile throughout).
It was still a great video but not as great as Bad Romance which managed to be engaging without the song being interrupted constantly to show some random clip.
And Beyoncé isn't fooling anyone into thinking she's a lesbian.
P.S. I did love the tongue in cheek joke where GaGa's stripped in the prison cell and one of the prisoners says "I told you she doesn't have a (manhood)" and another prisoner goes "That's a shame!" Should put an end to those hermaphrodite rumours lol.

I'm guessing that when they show it on TV they'll cut out the annoying parts and just keep the parts with the song in it (which are amazing). Then again I'm not a fan of videos with stories in them, it's a music video lets keep it about the music!

Oh and Telephone is the lighest poppish song on The Fame Monster. All the other songs on the album have darker undertones. This is just about not being able to hear someone in a nightclub.

Telephone is a fantastic in yer face video , positively dripping with the juice of in-jokes and controversy .
It will be talked about , and some of the imagery just begs to be discussed from a school playground in Michigan , all the way to Harry's bedroom in Nottingham .
However , the song seems to be a victim of such a captivating video , as it is not truly heard in a cohesive manner due to all the "acting" and the double entendres going on .
Still there is always the plethora of GaGa's different colourful outfits we can discuss .
My FAVOURITE ? Must be the hat with all the smoking cigarettes , but then I also like the police crime scene dress , that barely covers GaGa's upper torso and her central goodie .
In 24 hours , the video has had 3 million hits on You Tube , and due to the release of the vid , I can see Telephone knocking loudly on the door of the top ten singles chart tomorrow night .

I love when Lady GaGa and Beyoncé are dancing in the American flag outfits. Very sexy!
Does anyone want to hear my abstract opinion on the video? Right, I think GaGa is using the concept that 'Fame Kills' once again, continuing the theme from Paparazzi. She gets thrown in to the prison which represents Fame. Fame is a dark and sinful place and the images of fighting and sex represent that but GaGa's joy of being in prison is how modern culture drowns themselves in the World of Fame. The prison guards throwing GaGa in jail are also the public, who criticise and judge celebrities. They also strip her which represents record companies stripping the substance out of an artists and making them bland and mindlessly sexy.
When GaGa and Beyoncé poison the restaurant full of people, they are representing the killer side of fame. The people indulge in the poisonous fame, gorging on all the food (gorging on fame which eventually kills them). Again this backs up the Fame Kills theme. Beyoncé and Lady GaGa dance in the American flag outfits to show America's obsession with fame as well as technology (see the constant plugs for Virgin mobile and the dating website). The constant pop culture references and technological references further show our obsession with pop culture.
Of course, GaGa is as much a business woman as she is a creative artists and she knows that sex, violence and general all round quirkiness will sell as well as the constant product placements throughout.
P.S. GaGa and Beyoncé are also painted as killers in the video because of their powerful dominant position as two of the biggest popstars in the World right now.

OK I'm a little late with opinions etc on this little pop nugget, but hey, it's better late than never!
Song wise... Hello the looming figure of Gwen. It's very Stefani isn't it? Its good, catchy and not half as irritating as some of her other drivel. I really like her voice in this actually, her voice shines on this. I know its massively autotuned, but it sounds a lot better than on the likes of Poker Face. There's also less annoying computerisation etc.
It's MUCH better than 'Poker Face', 'Paparazzi', 'Love Game' and everything apart from 'Bad Romance'. It's not as good as that.
Video wise .. love it lol. Its mental, ridiculous and funny. I know there's a plot but lets be honest, it's a bit of a joke. I honestly think they probably started out with a concept along the lines of "let's try and exemplify American society through prison, theft and greasy diners". Then they took this idea and ran, just having as much fun as possible on the way.
I want the cigarette sunglasses so much.
Beyonce is way out of her comfort zone, which makes for slightly uncomfortable viewing, but in a way is great. She is obviously having fun anyway, that's what counts. She needed making a bit more interesting anyway.
Anybody who's read my Gaga posts of the past will know this is a massive turn around in opinion for me!

Oh Lady GaGa's next single from The Fame Monster will be Alejandro and it is rumoured it will continue on from the Telephone video. It is also rumoured that David Walliams will be in it.
I personally think Alejandro is a poor single choice, being the poorest single from the album. That said the song is still really good cos there are no bad tracks on Disc 1 of The Fame Monster in my opinion.

Another thing my Odd friend .
I did say @ 2 , that Telephone would explode commercially when the video was released .
And as Randy explained , no one could be quite sure of the date of release , as it had more delays than an Ashley Cole / Cheryl Cole reconciliation .
The fact that it was in the last few days means that a sudden surge for this weeks chart has just happened , and due to this exciting event , I reckon Telephone will now chart between 5 and 12.

I too love the Ace Of Base influences that can be heard in Alejandro but the song just seems to run out of steam after the first chorus and it just all becomes a little repetitive for me. I think its a great song and no doubt GaGa will make a great video to get me more into the song but I just feel that it is the weakest song on the album.
GaGa has said that she will release four singles from The Fame Monster as she's releasing her third studio album at the end of this years. She said that Speechless will be a future single so I think it's unlikely that Dance In The Dark won't get a release. :(
I would have much preferred Dance In The Dark to be released instead of Alejandro 'cause I think its the best song lyrically on the album.
I welcome the release of Speechless though 'cause it will show people that GaGa can do other types of music than club bangers.

Some good points there Randy , and the album closer Teeth shows a lot more variation again.
Speechless will maybe shock sone GaGa listeners who think they have The Good Lady sussed .
For album number 3 , I have a feeling we will have variation again , due to the fact that GaGa has a business brain and will want to entertain and shock in equal measure , both musically and visually.
Not being able to second guess her next move , makes her edgy , important , and the wait for new material will be exciting .
The fact that she understands how to write killer pop hooks , and has a handle on her lyrics means that the standard of songs should remain high.
Certain people probably thought that she could never top Just Dance or Poker Face for catchy pop songs , and then she came back with Bad Romance which engaged the listener with a hook , kiterally every line .
I have every faith that album 3 will be extremely relevant in the pop world .

It will be interesting to see if Gaga can produce a Thriller-type album next time, in which every track is single worthy. At the moment she seems too desperate to shock people and therefore throws in some pointless tracks on her albums (e.g So Happy I Could Die).

Yeah , give GaGa another ten years and five more albums at the top , and then we can assess the effect and influence she has had on the face of popular music.
As long as she stays healthy , free of injury and doesn't implode . and continues to progress as an artist and stays relevant in every adventure she takes , and the songs remain at a very high standard , then we can analyse her success .
I hope she has the determination and work ethic to keep the House Of GaGa in excellent working order , with every room looking well furnished and welcoming to the many guests that want to stay the night , over the coming years .

She said she wouldn't do another collaboration for a while now, because 'she thinks it's important for her music to be able to stand on it's own two feet' (See her recent interview with Jonothan Ross for more)
But according to the combined UK and US iTunes chart, 'Telephone' is already at #3, knocking Justin Bieber and Jason Derulo down one.

I think Tinie Tempah will hold on the the top spot for at least one more week. Then not even he will be able to stop 'Telephone.' from taking the crown the following week, just becasue 'Telephone' is 'newer', and Tinie Tempah will have been at the top for three weeks by then.
It doesn't look like there's much competition for top spot in terms of single releases that week so it's alomst a given that 'Telephone' will make #1. Here's hoping.

Because a song is number 1 , does it mean it is good ?
Not necessarily , whether a song is good or not is not a case of which chart position it reaches , it is purely down to personal taste . You may prefer a song at number 52 , over a song at number 7 , for example .
However , songs go to number 1 , because in one week , MORE people think this song is good , than any other song around , and they validate this by spending their hard earned cash on it .
So at this moment in time , Telephone is the most popular song in the country right now , liked by a lot of people .
Does it mean it's good ?
Well , that's up for every individual to decide .

'Fight For This Love' hit #1, ... you know the rest. It's just a shame 'Parachute' won't get off it's arse and get there too.
And I agree with spirit, (again) if a song is liked a bit for lots of weeks it can chart at #2 for a number of weeks, a la Take That's 'Rule The World', whereas with songs like Peter Kay's Animated All Star Band's Medley shizz, which hit number one and then bomb doesn't necesarilly mean they're good, but it's because of good cause that people buy them.
And then of course there's the opposite scenario when you get a really good song only get to something like 100 odd. What's that all about?
But then, if a song has charted prior to it's release, it won't chart so well once it's physically released, a la 'Parachute'.

When the Crazy Frog , showed his genitals and went to number 1 , more people bought his single than any other single in the uk at the time .
That's an official fact !
That means thousands of people thought it was good enough to buy . more than any other single .

IN MY VIEW , a lot of songs I personally dislike have got to number 1.
Although it's a fantastic catchy pop song that makes people move their arms in INTERESTING WAYS , I can't abide Y.M.C.A by the Village People , although I am aware millions of people love it .

Ha excellent debate guys.
As per the 'do the charts reflect whether a song is good or not'. well obviously not. as mentioned several times, they reflect what is popular at a particular time in comparison to other avaibale tracks at that same time. And only reflects the popularity amongst the single-buying public. unless you're takling good as in technically good, but thats something else. However, the British public do love a gimmick/joke, thus bob the builder, blobby, crazy frog, x-factor etc all getting to the top of the charts.
On the much more interesting gaga debate - would you? hmm...ive had this discussion with loads of people. is she fit or not? i can't tell. I'm inclined to say yes. Although, she needs to stop losing weight, her next to beyonce makes her look a little too skinny.

b.) Does a high chart position mean a song is good? Not necessarily. Depends what you mean by "Good".
Here's an idea I may not believe: Most people are not fanatical about music and only hear music on the radio and on the television. So their choice is quite limited really. Therefore whatever is promoted best gets heard by more people so sells more.

Seeing as we're never going to agree on what makes a good song, here is a different topic to debate.
MGMT's produced three stunning pop singles, Electric Feel, Kids and Time To Pretend, on their 2008 album Oracular Spectacular only to give us their new album Congratulations, an album that contains no singles and seems to laugh at people who enjoy 'pop music'. Personally I think it's one of the biggest disappointments of the year so far especially after hearing It's Working and Flash Delirium (which are both good songs).
So the new MGMT's Album: Congratulations or Better Luck Next Time.

I am having a listen now. However I have a thumping headache and I have been off work all week with THAT flu and so I am not in the best mood possible to listen to it. At the moment it is simply annoying me.
It's Working and Flash Delirium are both great, although I could presently have done without the thrashy bit at the end of FD.
I like Lady Dada's Nightmare, it's calming and clearly a direct reference to the subject of the previous track, Brian Eno, which is fun enough. About time he had a song about him!
Song for Dan Treacy I will have to listen to again, it may be quite good but it just hurt too much and went on too long in my current state.

Big yes to Arcade Fire and Strokes. Massive fan here. Particuarly Arcade Fire. Im so excited. Im debating Reading/Leeds this year because of them. May just get a day ticket.

I'm looking forward to so much music this year. It should be way better than last year which I found to be pretty poor. Oh, are the Scissor Sisters releasing some music this year. I didn't hear.
I am very excited about No Doubt and reasonably excited about Sophie Ellis-Bextor. I have a love/hate relationship with The Ting Tings but their new album Kunst (German for art, not a certain other rude word) will be good if they have more songs like Be The One. Looking forward to Kelis' new album as well.
Wasn't crazy about the snippet I've heard of Not Myself Tonight but I like Christina and her ability to reinvent herself.
The people who need to disappear this year are the two ladies of this blog, Lady GaGa and Beyoncé, as well as Rihanna and the Black Eyed Peas. As much as I love the four acts...overexposure much? Rihanna and Black Eyed Peas are expected to release new music this Summer and Beyoncé and GaGa releasing new albums at the end of the year.

2009 was an interesting year because due to the lack of big releases I was able to discovered some acts I'd never heard of before. I don't think it was a poor year in general, the charts were mostly terrible last year but the music output for each year is usually around the same level. Just depends on who gets more exposure.

Yeah Enigma, I ACTUALLY cannot wait for Lady GaGa to come back at the end of the year and smoosh all people. She must dissappear for a bit and then come back with a song so stonkingly juggernauty it makes everyone else in music seem like a Year 2 choir, complete with tambourines, maracas and plastic xylophones.
But I'm STILL waiting for Little Boots to re-release 'Earthquake'. If she knows what's good for her, she'll do it. And then she'll release 'Mathematics', it dwarfs the amzingness of 'Remedy', and I agree with Liam in that 'Hands' was one of the best albums from 2009. So was 'Lungs'. Ooh, biology is good.
OMG No Doubt are soooooo good, they must come back with a bang, which they will do. Because it's Gwen!
And Engima, how can you not have heard of the Scissor Sisters comeback!? After 'Ta-Dah!' (which only had one good song in my opinion), Jake Shears is saying this one is their best yet. Good things. :)

Personally I thought Ta Dah! was a great album, it had definately more than one good song on it: Don't Feel Like Dancing, She's My Man, Kiss You Off, Ooh, Intermission and Paul McCartney are all as good as anything on the first record.

Yeah right Liam! I heard she released it for limited edition a few months before the album but that's hardly giving it it's due. And 'Meddle' was released similarly, but it should get a proper release.

It's been about four months since Little Boots' last single 'Earthquake', which charted at #84. :O I KNOW RIGHT. And I haven't heard of anythying new some I'm just begging her record company realise the brilliance of all the song of 'Hands'. She could be so big right now if she got to release 'Meddle', 'Stuck on Repeat', 'Mathematics', and hopefully 'Symmetry'.

Yeah there was some serious screwing up along the line with her releases and sound. She had such potential on My Space and when she was small, winning the Sound of 2010 poll for that sound. Then her record company got a lot of the tracks re-done, some for the better and some for the worse. She changed and became a bit of an industry product.
The worst bit being the way she was just sat in a recording studio for 2 days to make a "good lead single", 'New in Town', when in fact she had an albums worth!! Remedy would have been a brilliant lead, or any of the tracks we are talking about. 'New in Town' is a pretty poor track and meant that a lot of people just switched off to Little Boots. She did claw it back with 'Remedy', but she didn't reach the heights that her peers, such as La Roux and Florence, from that poll did.
Big disapointment and a record label to blame there I think!

Totally agree, she I think 'New In Town' is okay, but it diminishes... her, as an individual artist. 'New In Town' had nothing particularly 'Little Boots' about it, whereas 'Mathematics', 'Stuck on Repeat' and 'Meddle' all had that unique 'Little Boots' stamp of quirkiness that not even Lady GaGa can replicate, because people don't see Lady GaGa as 'cute and quirky'.
'New In Town' was quite a mellow affair to be honest. And what I don't understand is why her record label isn't showing signs of giving her a fourth single. I could understand if she had four or five already, but only three single from a debut as good as 'Hands'??

It was also a mistake for Little Boots to release "Earthquake " at the time near the date of the Haiti disaster .
Radio did not touch it , given the title .
In fact , I never heard it or saw the video , anywhere , and hence it failed to chart .
That was not the best timing , for that single release .

It was released in November wasn't it? The Haiti earthquake happened in 2010 for sure, so it couldn't have been near the release date, could it?

Yeah OddOne's right, the Haiti earthquake happened on the 12th January and Earthquake was released on 13th November with the video released on 16th October. So I doubt that was the reason it didn't succeed in the charts

The reason that it didn't chart well was probably because Remedy was still hanging around the top 20 near the time of release so everyone was sick of Little Boots, therefore radio didn't bother playing Earthquake.
A similar thing happened to La Roux when I'm Not Your Toy underperformed, if an artist is over-played people get bored of them.

People did kind of get bored of Lady Gaga at a point, Love Game only made it to no.19 which compared to the previous singles was poor.
However Lady Gaga is different from La Roux and Little Boots because she's a great performer so everything she does has an element of spectacle that keeps people entertained. If it hadn't been for the fact that she released Bad Romance, one of the best pop singles of 2009 accompanied by one of the best videos of at least the last ten years, then people may have begun to switch off. With La Roux or Little Boots neither of their songs that flopped could rival their best work, if Little Boots had released Stuck On Repeat or Meddle then she may have faired better.

'LoveGame' charted at no. 19 because it was victim to a LOT of illegal downloads plus the fact it charted early, before the physical release, stunted it eventual chart position.
As for La Roux, 'I'm Not Your Toy' was a REALLY dire choice of single after 'Bulletproof'. Should've gone for 'Tigerlily' in my opinion.
But 'Remedy' was around the Top 20-30 by the time 'Earthquake' was released. It couldn't have been because 'people were bored': you can't get bored after one single like 'Remedy' because there wasn't anything particularly resilient about its chart peak, it actually fell fairly quickly out of the Top 40, dropping 8-12 each week. And therefore was quickly removed from Radio playlists (except for remixes maybe).
So it is completely bewildering as to why 'Earthquake' never got radio airplay. I think I heard it once on Kiss FM some time in early December.
Hate-ists. :P
And at Harry, the reason we're debating this is because we don't know why Little Boots isn't showing signs of releasing a fourth single, which would more-than-likely be 'Stuck On Repeat' or 'Meddle' with any luck. But yes, if she had released them, she would've inevitably done better.

Well OddOne, you'll be as pleased as I am to know that Florence + The Machine is releasing Cosmic Love as the final single from Lungs. A video's been filmed and everything. Wahey!
I was so disappointed with Drumming Song underperforming in the charts. It is the second best song on the album after Cosmic Love. Ego would not fail as a single because it's the best song on I Am... Sasha Fierce in my opinion. However, she's already released seven singles from the album and we don't need another one seeing as If I Were A Boy, Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It), Halo and Sweet Dreams being overplayed to death so much so that they were incredibly annoying. Broken-Hearted Girl, Diva and Video Phone got far too much airplay on the music channels too for my liking. As for the fantastic pop song that is Radio, that was released in the Netherlands instead of Broken-Hearted Girl. Lucky Dutch people.
One Love failed so bad as a single and he should have just released the fantastic Memories off the back of Sexy Chick. Thankfully Memories is a single now.
Pixie Lott failed horribly with Gravity. Haven't heard My Love yet but I've heard fans rave on about how great Here We Go Again and Turn It Up are so why not give fans what they want and release them.

We all know record labels don't know best; I heard a story that The White Stripes' record label wanted to release There's No Home For You Here as a single instead of the amazing Seven Nations Army off their brilliant lp Elephant.
As much as I love both songs imagine if TNHFYH bombed and the White Stripes got dropped, we wouldn't have songs like Blue Orchid, My Doorbell, The Denial Twist, Icky Thump and Jack White probably wouldn't have gone on to record the brilliant Steady As She Goes with his side-project The Raconteurs!

Muse are a great example of poor single choice. Anybody who's listened to The Resistance album must agree songs like 'Guiding Light' and 'MK Ultra' would have been better single choices than 'The Resitance' and the worst song on the album/ever by Muse, 'Undisclosed Desires'.

I disagree, I thought Undisclosed Desires was a great song and deserved to be a single but I've heard your opinion from many of Muse fans so I assumes it's a bit of a marmite song. I actually didn't like Guiding Light, I felt it had too much over the top showmanship without containing a great tune at the heart of it, and I thought Resistance was a good single, in a sort of Starlight way, even if it wasn't the best track on the album.
With a bit of editing to make it shorter I thought Unnatural Selection would make a great single and I quite liked MK Ultra so that could be a good single as well.
Personally I thought Kasabian messed up not releasing Fast Fuse as a proper single, to me it sounded like a top 10 hit.

What WAS Ke$Ha thinking? More to the point, what was she thinking when she asked 3OH!3 to collaborate on it??? They do absolutely nothing for the song. It's like Gordon Brown thinking a condom machine would be a good idea to install in a monastery. (Extended metaphor, may require thinking :P)
As for Muse, I like 'Undisclosed Desires' as an ablum track.. a LOT, but as a single... maybe not so much.
And Pixie's fans probably know more about the charts than her record company: both 'Gravity and 'My Love' and cross-genre ballads, and as I've said before, after 'Cry Me Out', she shouldn't have released another, inferior attempt at a ballad.
'Here We Go Again' was produced by RedOne. Pretty much sums up it's chartability just by mentioning his name right? Right.

1. 'Cosmic Love'
2. 'Drumming Song' (AND THEN, say it with me... PRO-MOTE)
3. 'Dog Days Are Over'
4. 'Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)'
5. 'Howl' (v good)
6. 'You've Got The Love' (releasing it this late might've meant there wouldn't be that awful Dizzee Rascal collaboration)
7. 'Kiss With A Fist' (still very good but not worthy of second single release)

I honestly think its one of the best albums of the decade and she probably had massive trouble picking tracks to release 'cause they are all so good. I agree on putting 'Kiss with a fist' quite low down the list though. Still amazing stuff.

Bare in mind that Kiss With A Fist was released in 2008 so at that time she may not have written most of the stuff that now features on the album. Also I disagree with the idea that Cosmic Love should have been released first because as much as I love the track it sounds more like a third or fourth single, Rabbit Heart however has some big hooks in it and sounds like a massive first single.
In my opinion she should've released the singles like this;
1) Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)
2) Dog Days
3) Drumming Song
4) Cosmic Love
5) Howl
I don't see the point in Florence releasing You Got The Love as a single seeing as it's not her own song. Doesn't matter though because at least we can still all listen and enjoy the tracks even if they're not singles, can't wait for the second album.

Shake It by Metro Station is a superb pop song , that was a hit in many countries .
I also really liked Fly On The Wall by Miley Cyrus , and as she is maturing , she has no doubt , chosen the wise decision to expand her sound and embrace new styles .
Although not to loads of tastes, Mr Bieber is also doing what he does to the best of his ability .
The moment when he was on Alan Carr - Chatty Man and was teaching our Al his dance moves , was hilarious , and Justin showed a personality and understanding of his craft , that was was beyond his years .
If what he does and the songs he makes , gives a vast number of young people pleasure as they are growing up, and he conducts himself as a gentleman , then good luck to him . This style of handsome teen sensation has always gone on through the years , and if it makes people smile through their difficult lives , then good for them .
However , I can't wait til the wonderful Interpol , finally decide on what the lead single from album 4 will be !
On the exterior , I'm calm , but the new Interpol material makes me scream like a Justin Bieber fan , on the inside .

What I am meaning my Odd Friend , is that Justin is playing his role extremely well , and is appealing to his target audience to the best of his ability , with songs and public and media appearances that consolidate his position as a teen sensation .
I don't expect mass marriage proposals from ChartBlog regulars , as I am sure none of us are within the King B's target audience .
His next single won't sound like Interpol , Arcade Fire or Paramore , (although then some of us may like it ) , but having studied pop music over a number of decades , he is playing the "game " very well , and no doubt enjoying himself along the way .
I bet he uses earplugs , or has acquired tinnitus from all that screaming .
I wonder right now , just what life might be like for Justin Bieber ?
He was , I'm sure a relatively normal lad , now thrust into an absolutely monumentally , phemomenal situation , that few people will ever experience or understand .

I think Justin Bieber came across as a nice kid in the interview with Alan Carr but like Liam, I wanted to smash in my television screen when he started flicking his hair.

And please, please, please, NO! 'Baby', was bad enough. I heard 'Never Let You Go' a few weeks back and it's truly awful, even more annoying than that stupid string refrain going through the chorus of 'Baby'. I mean really, I could've written that chorus.

All he's done is play C, E, G, E on the strings. Which is NOT in anyway original, but people realise it sounds rubbish and try to do at least something with it, like add quaver notes or CHANGE CHORD/KEY, but no, Mr. Bieber left it boring and annoying. I heard my 9 year old sister play that chord progression just yesterday.

Okayy, some crap songwriter did it. He must've though it waz well phat wid a 'PH' lyk.
I wish he'd leave our sights and learn to play and instrument, and write songs that have something to do with what life is really like, (somehow I don't think squeaking 'Baby, baby, baby. OH!' at a girl much older than 5 would attract them to you) then he'd be praised even if he wasn't the best singer.

I know it is not to your taste , but that hugely catchy Baby chorus , is largely due to the song getting to number 3 ,
It is simple but yet, so effective , and thousands of people love it.
When I first heard it , it grabbed me completely , and I am not female and under 16 , so lordy knows how they felt .
Probably felt like screaming , I would wager .

"Lady GaGa has dismissed rumours that new single 'Alejandro' has been scrapped in the US after poor feedback from radio station bosses.
The singer was alleged to have become embroiled in a row with her record label over the upcoming release. She wanted to issue the track ahead of the company's preferred song 'Dance In The Dark', Contactmusic reports".
The speculation was sparked following news that 'Alejandro' struggled to make an impact in other territories - entering the Canadian charts at number 78 and in Australia at number 49 - since its release earlier this month.
However, GaGa has now taken to Twitter to reassure fans that the track will be released, posting: "Alejandro is on the radio. [Naughty word removed]. It sounds so good, we did it little monsters."
Well, I would've preferred 'Dance In The Dark' to be released first, but it's a very 'weird' (especially the intro which of course, would have to go for the radio edit I mean, imagine your littl-uns listening to GaGa orgasms!) track that may not bode as well as 'Alejandro'.

In the UK , my next AND last choice of single from the Fame Monster would be Dance In The Dark or Monster .
I am aware though , that 2 new songs have been reported to be absolutely top drawer , from the future album .
Anyone who thinks that this megastar is a fluke , and will fade away are seriously mistaken , and have misread the skills and appeals of Lady GaGa .
In fact , in my defence , where I bigged Lady GaGa to the max on both the Poker Face and Paparazzi reviews on ChartBlog , much to the exasperation of others , no doubt , I could picture this scene today , a year ago , where she stands as arguably the most exciting and most talked about , new megastar on the planet .
In the year since my Poker Face comments , Lady GaGa's star has gone absolutely Supernova , and I knew then , how things were going to map out .
Yes , I knew she was THIS good.
Now , thousands more people know.
Actually , make that millions .

She's apparently releasing 'Alejandro' and 'Speechless', then going to release the lead single from her third studio album, which rumours have speculated is currently titled 'Glitter & Grease' (working title).
I just really wish she'd have a break y'know? Not necessarily from single releases but get this, The Monster Ball Tour started of with 56 tour dates, she now added to that and is going to play 121 dates.
She's now, not even half way through the tour, if she keeps on like this she's gunna be touring The Monster Ball when the third album's out, and her so-called 'dedication to her fans' means she's not going to not promote the next album. So she's gunna go straight on to touring the next album without a break; she's not resting and I actually think she wants to go down in history as the first global phenomenon to die on stage.
She says she suffers from insomnia so she's not sleeping, which is rediculous when performing every other night, sometimes four nights in a row. She's saying how it may be her destiny to 'die on stage' or 'go insane'.
I'm like, yeah alright, give it a rest will you? It maybe be historical to die on stage if you were ten albums deep... but you've been active for not even two years... So yeah, take a break will ya? Before you do actually die from irregular heart beat of something.

I seriously hope Gaga does not call her album "Glitter and Grease ".
In the UK ,it may conjure up worrying images of an infamous 1970's pop prince , whose antics, later in life gained him national ill feeling and bad press.
Change the title Gaga !

My sentiments exactly! She has a track called 'Glitter & Grease' which she's re-working for the album. So it makes sense, but ti truly is a horrible title, 'The Fame' and 'The Fame Monster' were top notch imo.
I hope she re-works 'Vanity' (a song recorded for 'The Fame' but never made the final cut) and puts it on the album. I think underneath that annoying chorus it's really quite good :)

I love this video although it is a little shocking. Is there going to be a part two to it? I didnt really understand the end.
We are doing a dance to this song at my school prom. We've copied most of the routine from the video but have had to make some bits up. I'm really nervous about it. The other thing is that we can't arrive like everyone else because we have to wait back stage because we've got to wear our dance kit, you can see from my prom dress that I couldnt exactly dance in it. Oh well. I hope it will go down well becasue we've been working on it for ages. I hope we can do GaGa justice!

Yeah, I'd imagine there'll be a Part 2 to the Telephone video as it says "To be continued..." at the end but GaGa has revealled that the video for her next single Alejandro won't act as a sequel to Telephone.
