Usher ft. Young Jeezy - 'Love In This Club'

Post categories:

Fraser McAlpine | 10:23 UK time, Tuesday, 22 April 2008

UsherSorry, Mr 'Sher, you want to WHAT? Make love? In this club? Well, I don't know...it's all so sudden...and even if I was keen, exactly where in this club were you thinking of? On one of the stained sofas in the 'snug' or just down here on the drink-sticky floor? Sorry? Did you say something about the bathroom? You're KIDDING, right? We'd need wellies!

Still, you've got your nice song with its rippling synth spine and its faint echo of 'No Woman No Cry', and as usual you've done a lovely job with the pleading vocals and all that, so let's just say I'm not ruling it out, OK?

Course, it's just as well you've brought me here on a quiet night, cos I don't really relish the thought of getting up close and personal when this place is so hot there's a salty drizzle coming down from the ceiling (and that is NOT a double entendre, OK?).

That said, it does mean that the bouncers can see better when they're on the prowl, so we'd have to find somewhere a bit quiet. Down the side of this vending machine, perhaps? Let me just move this pile of handbags and coats and I'll be right with you.

Oh, sorry, what am I thinking? You're Usher, right? Famous R&B star singer fella? So you'll be wanting to take me into the VIP area then. That's right, over there, past the rope separators and onto the slightly raised sofas in the corner...Hang on! That's even MORE public, you crazy fool. It doesn't matter how good your song is, I'm not putting on a sexy show for ANYONE.

And could you tell your friend to stop growling in my ear? He's really spoiling the mood. What did you say his name was anyway? Wheezy? Well it should be.

PS: Apparently the video shoot for this song set gossipy tongues wagging...something to do with Usher's wife Tameka Foster being the makeup/wardrobe lady and her deliberately making his co-star Keri Hilson look frumpy. Well, the According To The Mind Of Mrs Mills blog says otherwise...

I certainly think all these songs about doing naughty things on the dancefloor do exist in a slightly different universe to the rest of us.

Wasn't there a video where Double Glazius took Anna Kournikova into the toilet? The Toilet? That certainly wouldn't happen anywhere down our High Street. Well not with Anna Kournikova anyway.

I like the way he is singing "in THIS club". Good to be specific or she could be out the door and waiting spreadeagled in Pasha, where James Blunt has been waiting since 1973 and is probably a bit tense.

    I like the song though.
