Get It On...the road
With Pudsey centre stage this week tonight's show will be live from 'Bears' den in Glasgow. I'll be broadcasting from a major supermarket and encouraging shoppers to part with a 'pound a play' to Get It On.
As well as doing the show and doing the shopping my plan is to get some pictures of the broadcast and of the folk requesting the tunes on to the blog. If nothing else we may get another caption competition out of a pic of me with some oddly shaped marrows from the fruit and veg section.
Update: After asking our photographer to come and take pics we discovered we couldn't get online at the supermarket. Still I am sure you will agree that traveling to the other side of the city, waiting half an hour on a chilly train station platform,getting soaked to the skin twice and then having to go all the way back to work again to get the photo online was worth the effort to get this rather fetching snap of Pudsey and I! Ahhh, the things people do for Children In Need...

I never learn - I really should give more details when requesting songs of which there is more than one version. The version of "Barefoot" I like best is the simpler, less-orchestrated arrangement or the live version as a second choice but...because I don't want to seem churlish...the version that was played was still very beautiful and well worth a fiver.
I'll take the comment about all k d lang songs I request being shoo-ins (which isn't true) because I'm very pleased when they are played.
P.S. I'm not a huge fan but I really enjoyed Jethro Tull.

Julie - maybe you can help. I only know Barefoot from the live by request and Unplugged Vol 1 albums. Where is there a studio version?

Not sure - the version I like most is on youtube and seems to be a video version, perhaps from the soundtrack of Salmonberries. I like the Live by request version too but do prefer the sparest version.

Scotch - I even went to see S Club 7 once (on the pretext of accompanying my daughter who was about 8 at the time of course) and had a great time. I really must get out more - roll on the Steve Forbert gig.

That is a good Steve Forbert album, Streets of This Town would be my starting point but it is not unrepresentatvie. Julie may be more authoritative than me of course!

Right so - I'll pledge £100 to be allowed to play producer for one show over Christmas.
Another £50 for choosing the theme; almost certainly going to be:

Norrie - yes I think I'll take my daughter along - she really enjoyed the show at The Tron a couple of years back (although her ideal would to see the Jonas Brothers at the moment). We wanted to go to The Guillemots' gig this week but it clashes with the prelims so Steve should make up for that disappointment (cue more comments about The Guillemots' lead singer!).
Yes Steve does have a funny voice but I like it. I don't actually have many of his albums - only Alive on Arrival (his forst and probably my favourite), Streets of This Town, Rockinghorse Head, Here's Your Pizza (which he signed for me) and Any Old Time (the Jimmie Rogers Tribute for which he was Grammy nominated). Seen him in concert about three times and he's a very personable character who's written some pretty good songs.
